Chapter 327: Brother, What Do You Want?
Chapter 327: Brother, What Do You Want?
Kuro had no intention of clashing with these people.
The Revolutionary Army had no grudge against him—he'd be out of his mind to provoke them. Their conflict was the World Government's problem to handle. Without Fleet Admiral Sengoku himself calling for intervention, Kuro wouldn't have gotten involved at all.
Originally, he'd planned to stage a half-hearted attack—chase the Revolutionaries away, fake a pursuit, complete the mission, then return to Pegasus Island after having the Luo Family's elder lift Lida's bloodline curse. Everything was set perfectly... but these people just wouldn't let him leave.
What's the big idea, Revolutionary Army? When you see the Navy, why provoke a fight? Aren't you supposed to be hiding in shadows, plotting rebellion? Since when did you get bold enough to fight openly?
But this group—especially Sabo—refused to let him go. Can't you read the room? Can't you see that old man? Or that wild boar? I sent signals so clear even a blind man should've gotten them, but they might as well have been wasted.
Fine. Time to put on a little performance.
Conveniently, he had matters to settle here. Using the Revolutionary Army as a tool worked perfectly.
Kuro closed his eyes, spreading his Observation Haki to lock onto his target before reopening them. A faint red glow flickered in his pupils.
Seeing this, Sabo and his allies tensed.
Lucius Kro—this Navy officer had shone brightly during the Summit War, repeatedly blocking Luffy and Whitebeard's rescue of Ace at Marineford. Sabo had studied his file thoroughly.
Like them, Kro hailed from East Blue. He'd lurked there for a decade before rocketing up the ranks from a mere East Blue sergeant to Headquarters Commander after transferring to the capital.
Post-Marineford, he'd treated Navy regulations like trash, flaunting his status as an Admiral's direct subordinates to ignore World Government protocols.
While convenient for their cause, this marked him as a dangerous rule-breaker. Internal assessments suggested he had ulterior motives.
Especially his strength—intelligence dossiers from informants uniformly depicted him as terrifyingly powerful.
Sabo hadn't wanted to cross paths here. This encounter seriously jeopardized their plans—even threatened failure.
Yet he couldn't abandon this village.
Insect Country's tyranny was undeniable—only four towns represented true citizens. The rest were expendable ants, their lives meaningless.
Sabo aimed to destroy this regime through war, liberating these civilians!
"Just hold him off a bit longer."
Drawing a deep breath, Sabo intensified his Armament Haki, thinking, Just a little more time—Crow'll evacuate the villagers soon.
"Revolutionary Army Brother, what are you daydreaming about over there? Here I come!"
Kuro tightened his grip on Autumn Water, grinning at Sabo.
The smile froze.
Sabo's pupils constricted as frigid aura poured from above. Instinctively, he ducked.
Whoosh!
Autumn Water's black blade flashed under moonlight, slicing horizontally through Sabo's former position.
Kuro's figure rippled like water, reappearing beside him—
Afterimage Slash!
"Oho~ Dodged that! Impressive."
Kuro smirked, redirecting Autumn Water mid-swing for a downward cleave.
Crash!!
Sabo raised both arms to block.
"Too heavy!"
Gritting his teeth, he felt his arms go numb as his boots sank into the earth.
"Nice block, Revolutionary Army Brother!" Kuro chuckled, sliding Autumn Water down Sabo's arms to spark a golden slash upward.
"Slash Wave."
The golden arc blazed skyward.
"There we go—perfect trajectory!"
Kuro watched the slash ascend, preparing to pursue.
Suddenly, a purple streak erupted from distant peaks, neutralizing his golden arc.
Cloppity-clop. Cloppity-clop.
The rhythmic tapping of a wooden staff echoed.
Kuro turned, surprised to see a tall figure cloaked in purple, calmly approaching with his cane.
"Wait—this can't be right."
"You're joining the fray too?" Kuro asked, incredulous.
"That one debt remains unpaid", the figure intoned, leaning on his staff. "Now's my chance to repay your Revolutionary Army's kindness."
Yi Xiao!
As Sabo descended from the sky, he called, "Thanks, Yi Xiao Mr., but this isn't your fight. We're the Revolutionary Army—we shouldn't drag you into this."
"Nonsense", Yi Xiao smiled, then turned to Kuro. "This Navy Brother surely has no objections."
"Hey, Kuro!"
Lida and Klah arrived with Navy reinforcements.
"Luo Family..."
Seeing Lida's silver hair, Sabo stiffened. Gritting his teeth, he spat, "Navy—you claim to fight for Justice, yet aid such a family? No wonder they call you World Government puppets!"
"Donate those eyes to someone useful—like a certain gambling addict!"
Kuro rolled his eyes, pointing at Lida. "Can't you see? She's Navy! And not every white-haired person is Luo Family—got proof? You Revolutionaries shouldn't spread accusations without evidence. That'd make you no better than thugs."
"Forget it", Kuro sighed, facing Yi Xiao. "Brother, what do you want?"
"Just passing through", Yi Xiao replied, drawing his cane sword. His eyes flashed white as he leveled the blade at Kuro. "Saw someone under attack—I had to intervene. No grudge against the World Government."
"Except..." His voice sharpened. "As a wandering swordsman, I've longed to test my kenjutsu against the Greatest Swordsman."
"Thought as much." Kuro's eyebrows lifted. "Fine. You'll do."
The two locked eyes, standing motionless in charged silence.
"Kuro Commander! Help!"
Nalgah cried out as Crow's swarm engulfed him. CP3 already lay unconscious nearby.
"Go! To the village!"
Sabo seized the opening, dashing toward the settlement with Kerla.
"Let them—"
Klah started moving, but Kuro waved him off. "Forget it. CP3's down—interrogation rights are mine now. I suspect someone more threatening than the Revolutionary Army lurks here. Let them go—we'll verify later."
Come on. The guy's already knocked out. What's the point chasing now?
You could've helped earlier. Now? Not my problem anymore.
