Chapter 326: The Alternate World
Chapter 326: The Alternate World
In a desolate, uninhabited land, somewhere in the alternate world...
"Rustling..."
The ground trembled, and a mechanical claw emerged from beneath the earth, followed by an antenna.
The antenna quivered slightly, surveying the surroundings, and upon confirming no anomalies, it slowly rose from the ground.
As the sand and gravel shifted, a mechanical centipede crawled out from the depths, swiftly scurrying towards a nearby rock.
Once atop the rock, the centipede raised its antenna and began receiving messages floating in the void.
"Zzzz..."
"Channel 655... changing channels..."
"Attention, this channel has been detected by the Sanctuary. Do not transmit any messages that could reveal your whereabouts on this channel..."
"Sky Warship One is destroyed, the Mechanical Demigod has fallen, and Zone Three is completely annihilated. Warning to all other zones..."
"Don't show yourselves! Don't show yourselves! Don't show yourselves!"
"The Mechanical Demigod, modified by seven gene alterations, has been killed by 'Godmaker' Karl. The base is completely destroyed..."
"The Chaos Demigod's four Demigods sent to the lower realm have all been killed. The Grand Duke of this realm has completely submitted to the False God."
"Once detected by the False God, even Demigods and God's children have no chance of escape."
"Hide!"
"Wait!"
"The Creator will not abandon us! Victory will ultimately be ours! Karl cannot remain invincible forever!"
"Zzzz..."
Deep beneath the earth, a humanoid figure composed entirely of machinery slowly opened its eyes, its irises filled with rapidly flashing data.
"More and more of my kin are disappearing. Perhaps they, like me, have chosen to hide and cease contact with others."
"But the technological side's pursuit of strength relies on external resources. Without extracting energy, my own power will undoubtedly deplete."
"Dormancy... Adventure... A choice must be made."
It raised its head, gazing into the endless void, its eyes gradually growing somber.
"I'm not afraid of death, but I fear dying without purpose. Someone must make the Creator pay for their welcome."
"Swish!"
Thoughts began to stir.
Deep beneath the ground, a machine started operating, extracting the world's essence at an incredibly subtle rate.
An hour later, a portal made of flames appeared in the sky, and a figure with flowing hair crossed through, appearing suspended in mid-air.
The figure bowed its head, gazing down at the earth, its deep eyes seemingly capable of seeing through everything, and landed directly on the slowly operating machine.
"Heh..."
With a slight shake of the head, the figure curled its fingers and fired a finger gun downwards.
An arc of electricity flashed.
"Boom!"
The earth exploded, and the violent power of thunderbolt pierced the ground, destroying the machine and spreading along the meridians in all directions at incredible speed, instantly covering hundreds of miles.
When Karl reappeared in mid-air, he held a barely conscious Creator's kin in his grasp.
"There's still a higher-ranked kin alive?"
Reaching into the other's 'skull', Karl spoke softly.
"I hope your memories hold clues to other kin. It's been half a year since I last had a harvest."
Soon, Karl's eyes lit up, and with a casual swipe of his hand, a portal to another location opened.
When he reappeared, he found himself in a base constructed entirely of various metals.
Before him stood a holographic projection.
"Bishop?" Karl raised an eyebrow.
For years, he had been searching for the Sanctuary Bishop but to no avail, as the Bishop was an expert at hiding, leaving no traces.
He never expected to find the Bishop here, even if it was just a projection.
"Karl."
The Bishop's projection was a three-dimensional hologram, not the real entity, and its words were pre-recorded.
However, it was evident that the Bishop knew Karl would find this place and leave a projection.
"There's no need for you to seek me out, and doing so brings you no benefit." The Bishop spoke softly. "In fact, you should be grateful. If I hadn't taken a portion of the War God's godshard, you might have become the vessel for the War God's resurrection.
"If I die by your hand, the War God's godshard will return, and you'll be facing a high-tier sixth-rank upper god at the very least."
"So..."
"Don't come looking for me!"
Karl touched his chin, his eyes glinting with determination.
'No wonder the Cathedral Bishop could always break through ahead of time despite the suppression of the world's rules. It turns out the War God's godshard was within him.'
'Could he be a fourth-rank now?'
Most likely not! The Bishop hadn't expanded his faith or experienced brutal battles, so it was impossible for him to be a fourth-rank.
Unless...
He wouldn't have kept avoiding it, either.

"Hmm?"
Karl's eyes flickered as he pondered, a smile spreading across his face.
"Things are going well in Calim, and I hope to find a way to break through my own limitations there."
He sent a strand of thought to the continent of Calim, his consciousness taking the form of Linen, blending into the Wizard World.
Firstly,
it was to have someone there to rely on if things became unbearable on this side, and to also become familiar with the environment of the Wizard World.
Secondly,
he also wanted to use the resources of the Wizard World to enhance himself, and if Linen became stronger, so would he as the original.
Vire Town.
Having just endured an attack by abyssal monsters, half the town's architecture lay in ruins, almost reduced to a wasteland.
Even,
three of the Wizard Towers had one destroyed.
Fortunately, the abyssal monsters had finally been repelled, and several wizards gathered to discuss the aftermath.
"We still don't know the reason for this monster invasion, but the Academy will contact other organizations to demand an explanation from the Abyssal Cavern."
The second-rank wizard seated in the center spoke in a deep voice,
"A Wizard Tower was destroyed, and over a dozen Academy apprentices died. This matter won't be left unresolved."
"Yes."
The crowd below nodded in agreement.
"The Wizard Tower needs to be rebuilt, and Charles can take charge of it. He will also oversee the reconstruction of the destroyed tower."
"No problem," Charles assured, "but the reimbursement needs to be..."
"Of course."
"The deceased apprentices will receive death benefits, and the monsters' corpses can be sold for magic stones. The apprentices and wizards who participated in the operation should also be compensated..."
...
"Oh, right."
After the serious matters were addressed, Charles casually spoke up during the small talk,
"During this monster invasion, I discovered an apprentice named Linen with remarkable talent."
"He failed this year's assessment for some reason, but his cultivation has already reached the intermediate apprentice wizard level, and his foundation is solid with a strong affinity for fire."
"What do you mean?" someone frowned, "If his talent is good and his cultivation is sufficient, just let him retake the assessment at the end of the year. Are you suggesting he directly join the Academy?"
"It's not impossible." Charles smiled, "If someone is willing to take him as a disciple, according to the Academy's rules, he can directly enter the Academy."
"Right!"
"He can also refine the Silence Potion."
Hmm?
The crowd had been listening casually, but this mention of refining the Silence Potion piqued the interest of many.
"I happen to need an apprentice by my side," a deep voice spoke up,
"Let him come find me."
"Kito..." The only female in the group raised her eyebrows at this, hesitating for a moment before speaking,
"Since Linen can refine the Silence Potion, let him stay in Vire Town for now to help with the town's reconstruction. He can return to the Academy after some time has passed."
"Natalie?" Kito turned to the young wizard beside him, his eyes glinting,
"That's fine."
Ever since receiving Charles's message, he had specifically investigated Linen.
A very ordinary apprentice.
With average talent.
But he was very good-looking, and it was rumored that he had received Natalie's care.
'No matter what, I've decided to take this apprentice. Even if Natalie is protecting him, it doesn't change my decision!'
