Chapter 325: Don't Randomly Raise 'Flag'
Chapter 325 – Don’t Randomly Raise ‘Flag’
When, in memory, was their village at its most prosperous?
Thirty years ago, before the Luo Family arrived.
Back then, though the surrounding land still followed the same rules, the village bustled with people. Every day, farmers grew enough food to feed themselves and even sell surplus to the town.
But since the Luo Family’s arrival, the village population had steadily declined.
Those smiling faces gradually faded from Ushida’s memory.
The village, once vibrant, slowly crumbled into its current state of decay.
Yet back then, everyone still lived. He could farm, and those young ones could still help.
Until that Mountain Boar appeared.
That monstrous beast would trample the farmland, no matter how carefully he planted his Seed or how diligently he nurtured it. Just before sprouting, the Mountain Boar would return, precise as clockwork.
Ushida hadn’t stopped planting crops. But each time the Seed neared germination, that beast would charge in, reducing his efforts to destruction.
Later, Ju Geng grew strong enough to drive the Mountain Boar back with her bow and arrows. Yet this only protected the village itself—its farmland remained vulnerable.
Again and again, he buried his Seed in the soil, like the unyielding hope in his heart. One day, he believed, those Seeds would finally sprout.
Even if…
“C’mon, you beast!!”
Ushida lunged to the edge of the farmland, his hoe raised defiantly. “I won’t yield! Not even at the cost of my life will I let you destroy this place!”
If Ju Geng had fainted, then he would stand in her stead. Even in old age, even with failing strength, he’d protect this farmland.
“Don’t underestimate an old man!” Ushida roared with a laugh.
Boom!
A thunderous shockwave erupted ahead.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The sound grew louder, faster. In the moonlight, a colossal shadow surged forward, its bulk casting rising wisps of smoke and dust.
A gargantuan wild boar, its upturned Fangs gleaming coldly beneath the moon, charged with hooves pounding the earth.
On its back sprouted a strange, glowing clump of vegetation—like Wild Vegetable—radiating a faint glow.
‘Nature’s Zephyr’—a legendary anomaly from the Insect Country.
As the wild boar barreled forward, figures emerged atop the hill behind it.
“Mr. Yi Xiao, I must trouble you.”
Sabo stared down at the rampaging beast in the fields below, his voice grave. “This creature is one of the culprits starving the Insect Country. Its speed’s too much for us to catch. But with your abilities, Mr. Yi Xiao, this won’t be a problem.”
Beside him stood Kerla and Crow, eyes fixed on the massive wild boar.
“Hey, Sabo, there’s a lord over there,” Kerla urged.
“Please act quickly, Mr. Yi Xiao!”
“Understood.”
Yi Xiao stood motionless, his cane sword vertical before him, right hand gripping its hilt. As he began to draw, he suddenly paused, his voice tinged with regret. “I agreed to repay your kindness by aiding you against the beast plaguing the Insect Country. But I’m afraid I cannot fulfill that debt just yet.”
“Mr. Yi Xiao?!”
Sabo turned sharply, watching Yi Xiao hesitate as the wild boar neared the farmland. Teeth clenched, Sabo leapt from the hill, racing toward the beast.
“Cursing it, I’m too late!”
At his speed, he’d never catch up. If he could, he wouldn’t have let the boar run rampant in the first place.
No time left!
Whoosh!
As Sabo charged, a brilliant golden slash erupted from the village, soaring skyward. It struck the wild boar’s head, halting its charge.
The slash’s glow bathed the area, like a fallen moon glaring down, forcing the beast backward.
“Roaaaaar!!!”
Boom!!!
The light vanished. The boar howled, smoke rising from its head as it collapsed, eyes rolling back.
“Nature’s Zephyr.”
Ushida gaped at the fallen beast, then turned to see Kuro approaching, one hand casually gripping his Black Blade.
“Old man, no need to shout your resolve. Keep those thoughts buried.”
Kuro smirked, using his pinky to dig at his ear.
“You know what a ‘Flag’ is? Sometimes, saying something aloud invites the opposite outcome. Like a soldier claiming, ‘After this battle, I’ll marry my love’—he’ll likely die before, or return to find her wed to another. Even if he marries, the child might not be his.”
“This terrifying effect comes from speaking your heart aloud. So don’t blurt things out recklessly. Especially at your age—it could kill you.”
“Navy officer…”
Ushida stared at Kuro’s approach, then blinked at the fallen wild boar in disbelief. “Did Nature’s Zephyr really fall?”
“Can’t you see straight?”
Kuro clicked his tongue. “Dunno who knocked it out, but this hide’s thick. Might make a nice rug for my place.”
“Lu, Lucius Kro!”
Sabo’s eyes widened behind him. “Why are you here?!”
“Let’s go. Back to the feast,” Kuro muttered, sheathing Autumn Water and turning away.
“Stop, Lucius Kro!” Sabo shouted.
“Hmm, officer, someone called you? Is your surname really ‘Lusilu,’ Kuro?” Ushida glanced between them.
“What?”
Kuro feigned deafness. “Heard nothing. Must’ve been the wind.”
“Commander Lucius Kro!”
A group of black-cloaked figures arrived, and Nalgah, now conscious, spotted Kuro beside the wild boar. He paused, then noticed a golden-haired man behind him.
Under the bright moonlight, the man’s face was unmistakable.
“Sabo!”
Nalgah gasped. “Revolutionary Army’s second-in-command, Chief of Staff Sabo! You’re here?! Don’t move—we’re arresting you!”
Sabo’s eyes narrowed. “Government agents?”
“Sabo!”
Kerla and Crow rushed to his side as they faced Nalgah’s CP3 unit—and Kuro’s back.
“Hey, that’s Lucius Kro? Why’s he here? And the government? Are they collaborating?” Kerla hissed.
“Navy officer, they’re really calling you,” Ushida warned again.
Kuro exhaled a puff of smoke, sighing. “I pretend not to hear, and you pretend to leave quietly. Or are you bored enough to stir rebellion in Butterfly Town instead?”
He feigned shock. “What? The Revolutionary Army? Their second-in-command? Where?!”
Nalgah gritted his teeth. Too obvious!
He glared at Kuro, then inhaled sharply. Not the time to settle scores. The Revolutionary Army was the priority.
“Commander Kuro, help us seize these rebels! This is a big catch!”
