Chapter 324: Mechanical Iron Tiger
Chapter 324: Mechanical Iron Tiger
September 25, 2017
The relationship between Lu HaiKong and Wang Jun has always been beyond that of a ruler and his subject; they were more like brothers, or even father and son, and their roles often interchanged.
After successfully calming Wang Jun, Lu HaiKong left the Administrative Hall and headed to the Assembly Hall.
He had a strange intuition about Zhang He's invitation, a feeling that something was amiss, though he couldn't quite put his finger on it. Despite the intelligence he possessed indicating that Dingxiang County was stable, Lu HaiKong decided to make the trip.
Lu HaiKong didn't plan to go unprepared. Recently, Li Xiong had taken over a hundred carts of goods to the Xianbei grasslands, and Dian Wei had accompanied him.
In Dian Wei's absence, Lu HaiKong decided to bring the 'Tomb Guardian Legion Summoning Order' as a precaution. After retrieving it from the Assembly Hall, he also took out and opened the Golden Chest that Gao Shun had given him as a token of loyalty.
Although Lu HaiKong had lost count of how many times he had opened Golden Chests, he still felt a surge of excitement. After all, these chests were entirely reliant on luck, and it was normal to be surprised by their contents.
Despite being prepared for any surprises, Lu HaiKong was still startled by what he found inside.
The items that usually emerged from Golden Chests were small, at most a weapon or a piece of armor, but nothing too significant. He certainly hadn't expected that opening this particular chest would reveal a massive figure.
The sudden appearance of this creature nearly crushed Lu HaiKong beneath it. Fortunately, his quick reflexes saved him from being pinned; otherwise, he might have suffered some injuries.
"What the hell is this?" Lu HaiKong exclaimed, his eyes wide with astonishment at the sight before him.
This enormous creature stood at least fifteen feet tall, its entire body exuding a metallic aura. It resembled a fierce tiger, and it likely weighed several tons, making it a visually imposing sight.
Fortunately, Lu HaiKong's Assembly Hall was already at level fifteen, with the main hall boasting a height of thirty-three feet, easily accommodating the creature. If he had opened the chest in a standard building, it might have caused some trouble.
Lu HaiKong cast an Identification Spell on the creature and immediately learned its attributes:
Mechanical Iron Tiger
Type: Mechanical Beast
Owner: Lu HaiKong
Strength: 90
Defense: 900
Attack: 900
Mechanical Beast Description: A mechanical beast crafted by a master engineer over three years, possessing incredible combat power. It can transform into the size of a palm for easy carrying.

Cannot be repaired once damaged.
Lu HaiKong stared at the attributes, and after a moment of awe, he couldn't help but exclaim, "This thing is insanely powerful! Is there anything in this game world that can't possibly exist?"
After a brief moment of astonishment, Lu HaiKong quickly accepted the existence of this extraordinary creature. After all, he had encountered numerous peculiar things in this game world, and this creature was now his own. It wasn't strange for his own items to have unique qualities.
........................................................................................................
The day before Lu HaiKong prepared for his journey to Dingxiang County, almost immediately after Zhang He received the news, a group of unexpected visitors arrived at the Prefectural Governor's Office in Dingxiang County.
One of them, without the slightest courtesy, marched straight into Zhang He's study. He was a man in his thirties, dressed in fine garments, and exuded an air of shrewdness. Zhang He couldn't help but furrow his brows, and he asked Li Ke, who was by his side, to leave.
This man was sent by the Zhang family to replace Zhang He's position.
The man was named Zhang Yang (not the historical figure), a high-ranking member of the Zhang family and, by seniority, Zhang He's uncle.
Zhang He was somewhat familiar with this fellow. He knew that Zhang Yang had a rather radical personality and had apparently been in some sort of trouble, which had left him in a state of idleness. Zhang He hadn't expected him to be the one sent to replace him as the Governor of Dingxiang County, and it seemed that Zhang Yang had been the one to pull him down from his position.
"Seventh Uncle, you're a bit early, aren't you?" Zhang He furrowed his brows, expressing some resentment at the other's behavior. Not only had he been removed from his position, but he wasn't even given time to prepare for the transition.
"Early? I think I'm late. Such a good opportunity was presented to you, and you didn't seize it, causing the family to lose out on millions of gold. Humph, if I had come any later, who knows how much more we would have lost."
Hearing this, Zhang He couldn't help but sigh. It was clear that Zhang Yang wasn't interested in a friendly conversation. Not only did he show no remorse for taking over Zhang He's position, but he also blamed him for it. Fortunately, Zhang He had sent Li Ke away earlier, as he might have drawn his sword and attacked Zhang Yang for his audacity.
In the book, there was no mistake in the version!
At this moment, Zhang He wasn't concerned about the hat that Zhang Yang had placed on him. Instead, his biggest worry was that Zhang Yang might provoke Lu HaiKong. Zhang He knew Lu HaiKong well, and if Zhang Yang dared to provoke him, Lu HaiKong would not hesitate to twist his neck.
Zhang He didn't care about the life or death of the man before him, his greatest concern was that the Zhang family might suffer at the hands of Lu HaiKong. If they were to send troops to try and exterminate Lu HaiKong, no matter the outcome of the battle, Zhang He would be discarded like a pawn. So, his true intention was to help Zhang Yang stabilize the situation. He really didn't want Zhang Yang to mess with that powder keg; once ignited, not only would they be in trouble, but the entire Zhang family might be wiped out.
In this situation, Zhang He didn't confront Zhang Yang. Instead, he respectfully asked, "Seventh Uncle, may I dare to ask how you plan to handle these businesses?"
However, Zhang Yang completely ignored Zhang He's good intentions. He waved his hand as if shooing away a fly, "How I handle things is my business. You, get out of my sight!"
In reality, the relationship between Zhang Yang and Zhang He wasn't as bad as it seemed. Zhang Yang had no choice but to play the villain to secure his position, so he decided to go all the way and do it thoroughly.
"Seventh Uncle, listen to your nephew's advice. That Lu HaiKong is not someone to be trifled with. Now that you've taken my position..."
"Do I need your advice on how to act? You are no longer the Governor. It's best you leave the Governor's Office soon. If you don't, I'll have you escorted out."
Zhang Yang said coldly.
Hearing this, Zhang He realized that there was no point in trying to communicate with the man before him. He sighed, turned, and was about to leave.
"Wait, I just remembered, you can't leave yet!"
