Chapter 323: Why Did You Suddenly Die?
Chapter 323: Why Did You Suddenly Die?
At the same time, the Death Eaters searching the first floor turned the place upside down but found nothing of value.
The lead Death Eater listened to the reports from his subordinates and couldn't help but frown. Fortunately, the last two who arrived brought some good news.
"Mr. Yardan, we found a basement!"
"Excellent! Let's go take a look!" The lead Death Eater, Yardan, curled his lips into a smile and beckoned everyone to follow him.
However, just as they were about to move, a shrill scream suddenly came from upstairs.
"That's Laurens's voice!" Yardan's expression changed immediately, indicating that Laurens had likely triggered a trap, or possibly confronted the female shopkeeper.
Yardan immediately abandoned the idea of exploring the basement and prepared to go upstairs to check the situation.
But what he didn't expect was that, within a few seconds, more cries of pain and angry shouts came from upstairs, and soon the sounds gradually weakened.
The Death Eaters downstairs looked shocked, and Yardan's pupils constricted.
He knew what this meant: Ralph, Laurens, and the others had definitely been attacked by the enemy, and they were completely at a disadvantage. It was possible that two or three of them had been taken down in this short time.
Yardan couldn't help but feel that he had underestimated the female shopkeeper's strength. Ralph and the others were not weak, and even with the advantage of the terrain, it wouldn't be easy to achieve this.
"Kurson, Maggie, you stay here and guard. The rest of you, follow me upstairs! She must be up there!"
Confident in his own abilities, Yardan didn't rudely bring everyone up to support, but instead left two people to guard the entrance.
This was to prevent the enemy from using a diversion. After all, this was a mother, and she might be willing to sacrifice herself to buy time for her child hiding in the basement to escape.
Yardan never underestimated a mother's determination to protect her child, and he didn't want to let the little brat slip away due to a moment's negligence.
The hastily departing Yardan didn't know that the child he was talking about had been standing right beside them, cloaked in the Invisibility Cloak the whole time.
Ivan watched silently as Yardan led most of the people upstairs, then glanced at the two Death Eaters left on the first floor.
With only two people left, this would be much easier to handle.
It seemed everything was going according to his plan, and Ivan couldn't help but smile.
The trap in the second-floor magical kitchen was something he had set up in advance.
In fact, Ivan had placed many trigger-based Dark Magic items in other areas, but these people were too cautious and didn't dare touch any of them.
Only the crystal skull that created illusions had worked as expected, combining with the kitchen utensils and his blood magic, the Shadow of the Unicorn, to take out four enemies in one fell swoop!
Now, if he could just deal with the two in front of him, Ivan felt that even in a direct confrontation, he wouldn't lose.
With that thought, Ivan slowly approached them.
The two Death Eaters guarding the first floor didn't sense the impending danger. One of the Witches, after Yardan left with the others, complained uneasily.
"We should have ambushed her on the way. I have a bad feeling about this place, and I don't know what happened to Ralph and the others."
"That just means Ralph is a waste. Bringing so many people and still failing to catch that woman, he got what he deserved." The Death Eater Wizard sneered, having long been annoyed with Ralph. If not for their common goal, he wouldn't have worked with Ralph at all.
What was that?
As the male Death Eater spoke, he vaguely saw something glimmering in the darkness behind the female witch, like two orange-yellow gems.
Were those eyes?
The moment this thought crossed his mind, he felt his consciousness being sucked in.
"Enough, Brand! Speak less", the female Death Eater frowned, intending to reprimand him.
But before she could speak, Brand's gaze suddenly became vacant, and he fell straight to the ground.
The person who had just been talking to her was now lying on the ground, seemingly unconscious or dead.
The female Death Eater had never encountered such a bizarre situation and her pupils constricted as a chill ran up her spine.
"Brand! Brand?!" She stammered, calling out to him, but he did not respond. Terrified, she took two steps back, feeling a sharp object press against her back.
The female Death Eater turned her head sharply and saw that a young wizard, about thirteen or fourteen years old, had appeared behind her at some point.
As a burst of white light flashed before her eyes, the female Death Eater lost consciousness and fell to the ground.
"Stunning Spell!"
Ivan softly uttered the spell, knocking the other person unconscious. He put away his Wand without a second thought, as the person might still be of some use.
"Should have known, using the Snake Eye spell costs too much magic power." Ivan rubbed his slightly sore eyes and glanced at his status bar in the system. His magic power had already been reduced by half.
About thirty percent of it was used for the Unicorn's Shadow, two Apparitions, and other spell casting, while the remaining twenty percent was consumed when he activated the Snake Eye.
Perhaps because he knew Aisha was safe in the basement, the magic eye without the enhancement of killing intent was much weaker than before.
Consuming twenty percent of his magic power, the male wizard he had stared down did not die immediately but was heavily petrified.
Boom!
A series of explosions echoed from the roof, and Ivan's expression changed. His blood magic, the Unicorn's Shadow, had been shattered.
Due to his limited magic power, Ivan did not choose to use his magic to repair the Unicorn's body but let it dissipate.
"Adan, I see. They do have some skills", Ivan muttered to himself. The vision of his Guardian was connected to his, so he had seen the entire process. The one who destroyed the Unicorn's Shadow was the leader of the Death Eaters, Adan.
The person had some brains and was ruthless!
After recognizing the characteristics of the Unicorn's Shadow, he seized the opportunity when it attacked one of his companions and used a large-scale explosive spell to destroy this special Guardian.
The unfortunate Death Eater was also within the range of the Blasting Curse, and it was unclear whether he had survived.
It's worth noting that before the blood magic was dispelled, Ivan saw Adan bombing the second floor on a large scale, perhaps suspecting that the caster was hiding there.
After a while, the explosions on the upper floor stopped, and the sound of footsteps on the stairs followed. Ivan looked at the two people on the ground, then put on his Invisibility Cloak.
