Chapter 323: Abyssal Invasion
Chapter 323: Abyssal Invasion
Half a month later, Mandy sat behind the counter, idly twirling a magic pen made from a special stone.
"Nothing much has happened lately..." she muttered to herself.
"I wonder if Lin could have successfully crafted the Silence Potion by now. I've been waiting for it."
She rummaged through the cabinet and pulled out a piece of magic paper, which immediately displayed lines of text.
"Unusual activity in the Abyssal Cavern?" Mandy furrowed her brows, straightened up, and her expression turned serious. She held the pen and wrote a few words on the paper.
"Trouble!"
The magic paper in her hand was apparently a communication tool, displaying messages from various people.
Similar to... a group chat?
The participants in the group chat had diverse identities, and the messages came from all directions, providing valuable information.
As she was chatting enthusiastically, Mandy suddenly sensed something and looked up at the door, a smile appearing on her face.
"Little Lin, we meet again?"
"Yes," Lin replied, his face slightly pale. He took out some potions from his body and handed them over: "Sister Mandy, please take a look at the results of my hard work. One is a Silence Potion, and the rest are Tranquility Potions."
"Oh!" Mandy raised her eyebrows in surprise. "So fast?"
It wasn't quick to craft a Silence Potion in half a month, but for a novice, it was impressive.
She had thought Lin would only succeed by the end of the month.
One could only say...
Geniuses always surprise you!
"It is indeed a Silence Potion, and the quality is better than the last time." After examining the potion, Mandy nodded and was about to say something when she noticed his eyes. "Your eyes..."
"Oh!"
Lin touched his eyebrows, "I've recently cultivated a new type of witchcraft."
Hearing this, Mandy nodded thoughtfully.
The last time she saw him, she had noticed that Lin's eyes were slightly red, but she had attributed it to fatigue-induced bloodshot eyes.
This time was different.
Upon closer inspection, Lin's eyes had a faint red halo around the pupils, like burning flames.
It gave him a unique aura.
"Tsk tsk..." Mandy clicked her tongue and shook her head with a smile, "Little Lin, you already have a handsome appearance, and now with those attractive eyes, who knows how many more people will you charm in the future?"
"I heard that when you were in the academy, there was a female wizard who admired you greatly. What was her name again..."
"Witch Natalie?"
"Sister Mandy, don't joke," Lin quickly waved his hands, "Senior Natalie only cares about her apprentice's studies. If others hear about this, I'll be in big trouble."
"Hehe... Are you scared?" Mandy's eyes curved into a crescent shape.
Natalie was a formal wizard of Viper Academy and a genius, barely in her twenties.
Such a person was destined to become a Second Circle Wizard and even had the potential to reach the Third Circle.
Countless people had their eyes on her, and if word got out that Lin had a relationship with her, anyone could easily crush him.
Even if those high and mighty individuals wouldn't let a junior apprentice take action, their followers would still find ways to please them.
After some light-hearted banter, Lin chose to exchange the potions for materials and bid farewell.
The market was bustling with people coming and going, and Lin didn't plan to linger. He quickened his pace towards his residence.
Hmm? Not long after, he suddenly frowned and looked up at the sky.
A flame had appeared in the sky at some point, but no, it wasn't a flame! It was the heat and light generated by a meteorite rubbing against the atmosphere.
Lin's eyes widened, and an invisible pressure fell upon him, making his breathing stagnate and movement difficult.
"Boom!"
A deafening roar echoed.
The meteorite falling from the sky collided with a wizard tower floating above Vire Town.
The intense explosion triggered a violent flame, and in an instant, the entire town was covered in rubble and fire.
"Clatter, clatter..."
Chunks of debris rained down, smashing holes in rooftops and posing a deadly threat to those below.
"Ah!"
"What's happening?"
"Get out of the way!"
Chaos erupted on the streets as people screamed and scrambled for cover, caught off guard by the sudden onslaught.
Linen's face turned grim as he drew a staff from his body and waved it gently, summoning a flame shield around himself. He quickly dodged the falling debris and fireballs, his eyes fixed on the descending meteorites. One after another, they plummeted towards Vire Town, each impact causing a thunderous boom.
Of the three wizard towers guarding the town, one had already been destroyed, while the remaining two were operating at full capacity.
The entire town was protected by witchcraft arrays, now activated to their maximum potential, resisting the sudden attack.
"Ah!"
"What the hell is that?"
"..."

Linen turned at the sound, his eyes widening in surprise.
A chunk of falling debris slowly wriggled and morphed into a hideous, terrifying spider.
The spider hissed, shooting silk threads from its abdomen, entangling several people nearby.
Its sharp legs suddenly stabbed out, piercing through others' bodies.
It wasn't just spiders.
Venomous snakes, toads, and even man-eating crocodiles emerged from the meteorite fragments.
Magical creatures!
Their auras were chilling and eerie, reminiscent of the creatures from the Abyss.
Linen's eyes flickered, and with a fierce wave of his staff, he shot out several fireballs, blasting a demonic snake away. He then turned and sprinted towards Mandy's shop on the central street.
Each shop in the town's main street was protected by defensive arrays and barriers, providing added safety within.
'What's going on?'
'Where did these monsters come from?'
As he ran, Linen frantically searched his original body's memories. Fortunately, the Viper Academy had provided some information about these creatures.
'The Abyss!'
Wizards on the Calim Continent sought higher realms, traveling through various dimensions and worlds. Naturally, some powerful wizards had ventured into the Abyss, a place representing the will of countless worlds.
The will of the Abyss was terrifying; if a wizard entered, the entire continent could be engulfed by its power.
Thus, the Abyssal Rift came into existence.
Wizards didn't reject the power of the Abyss.
In their eyes, power had no inherent good or evil; it was simply a tool to be harnessed.
Some wizards utilized the power of the Abyss for cultivation and established their academies near the Abyssal Rift.
Near the Viper Academy, there was such a place.
The Abyssal Cavern!
This was a gathering place for numerous dark wizards, home to Fourth Circle Wizards, and a common enemy for the surrounding wizard factions.
"Linen!"
Mandy's voice echoed from ahead:
"Hurry over here!"
The witchcraft barrier around Mandy's shop was already activated, and she was swiftly casting spells to open it for Linen.
Linen's eyes lit up, and he accelerated towards her. Just then, a gust of wind lifted him off his feet.
"Boom!"
Two First Rank creatures landed nearby, causing the ground to shake.
Mandy's movements froze.
Opening and closing the barrier required a significant amount of time, enough for the Abyssal creatures to rush in.
Watching Linen, so close yet so far, she could only shake her head helplessly.
"Sigh!"
Linen sighed.
He couldn't ask her to reopen the barrier for him; their relationship hadn't reached that level yet.
"Get out of the town!"
Mandy shouted:
"Run towards the outskirts!"
Linen turned back, gazing at the town's core, where the rumbling never ceased, and the battle raged fiercely.
On the contrary, the outskirts of the town, though chaotic, were relatively safer.
He nodded at Mandy:
"Take care, Mandy."
Taking a deep breath, he turned and sprinted towards the town's outskirts.
