Chapter 321: The Mysterious Ghost
Chapter 321: The Mysterious Ghost
According to the town's residents, the "ghost" that had killed Sanbao's companions was still roaming the mountains. Typically, the townspeople rarely ventured deep into the mountains, preferring to stay closer to the foothills. However, it seemed that not everyone was as timid. Upon seeing the mysterious figure, Naoki had no particular suspicions.
He averted his gaze and turned to continue his search for the Magma Beetles in Inferno Valley when, to his surprise, Gordon suddenly gave chase.
"Gordon, where are you going?" Naoki asked, taken aback.
Ba Bu, the ground slug, also looked puzzled and echoed, "Ba Mu?"
"Agassi!" Gordon replied.
He paused and turned back, unsure how to explain his actions. Gordon transformed from his riding form into his combat form and scooped Naoki onto his shoulders, carrying him as he leaped across the rocky terrain.
"Wha-what?" Naoki exclaimed, bewildered by the sudden turn of events.
Ba Bu, confused but loyal, hurried after them.
Naoki's vision spun as Gordon nimbly navigated the terrain, the surroundings blurring with the rapid movement. The intense sensation was akin to bungee jumping, and Naoki felt his stomach churn.
Here is the revised sentence:
Gordon and Babu exchanged concerned looks, worried about their trainer's well-being.
Naoki took a few deep breaths to calm himself. Instead of reprimanding Gordon, he asked curiously, "Did you find something?"
Gordon nodded vigorously, turning his gaze forward.
That was when Naoki realized that Gordon had led them to a secluded cliff. Looming before them was a majestic mountain range, with a majestic waterfall cascading down from its peak. Verdant vegetation surrounded the area, and a narrow path connected the cliff to the outside world.
"This is..." Naoki trailed off, following Gordon's gaze.
On the desolate cliff, they spotted a shadowy cave. Gordon took a step forward, heading toward the cave entrance.
Sensing that there might be something significant within, Naoki cautiously followed Gordon, with Ba Bu close behind.
Soon, they reached the cave entrance. Gordon had to lower his head to squeeze inside.
After traversing a narrow passageway that was over three meters long, the cave suddenly opened up into a much larger space.
As his eyes adjusted to the dim light, Naoki froze in place.
The cave was not large, but it contained several stones of varying sizes that had been smoothed and polished. The largest stone resembled a bed, with a square stone beside it that seemed to serve as a table, accompanied by a smaller stone that looked like a stool.
Cowering in the corner of the cave was the green-robed figure they had seen earlier, trembling in fear.
In an instant, Naoki recognized the creature's emotion. It was afraid!
He studied the unfamiliar being carefully. It wore a green robe, and its face resembled a small orange, with eyes that seemed to twinkle like stars. Beside it lay a green mask.
"No, this is definitely not human!" Naoki thought to himself.
"Could it be a Pokemon?" he wondered, having never seen anything like it before.
"Agassi..." Gordon murmured.
"Ba Mu..." Ba Bu added, equally perplexed.
Both Gordon and Ba Bu seemed unsure how to approach the frightened Pokemon. Then, Ba Bu, ever the sociable one, recalled the friendly Frosmoth and had a moment of inspiration.
Hearing these words, the Pokemon cautiously glanced at the group in front of him.
Then, as if it had spotted something even more terrifying, it stood up and rushed out, even forgetting to take its mask.
The Pecha Berry that Ba Bu had offered was knocked to the ground and rolled around a couple of times.
Naoki, bewildered, followed it out, but the Pokemon was incredibly fast and soon disappeared into the distance.
Naoki didn't chase after it because he realized the Pokemon was extremely skittish, and the terrain here was complex and treacherous.
If they pursued it, the Pokemon would only become more flustered, and if it fell off a cliff, that would be disastrous.
Only after the Pokemon had completely disappeared from view did Ba Bu return to the cave, looking dejected as he picked up his cherished Pecha Berry from the ground.
Meanwhile, Naoki examined the cave's surroundings.
A bed, a table, a chair...
It seemed like someone had once lived here in seclusion.
Or perhaps the Pokemon had crafted these itself?
"Its body is green, so it's probably a Grass-type Pokemon," Naoki mused, looking down at the mask on the bed. Indeed, he spotted what resembled grass leaves on the mask.
Although he didn't recognize it, he could guess that this Pokemon was likely one of the new additions in the Hisui region's DLC.
"Ba Mu..." Ba Bu lamented, using his pads to wipe away the dirt on the Pecha Berry.
Naoki glanced at him and said, "Don't be sad, it was probably just startled by us."
"Ba Mu!" Ba Bu cheered up.
Naoki patted his pockets, then took off his backpack and poured out several berries onto the stone table.
He kept taking out berries until they formed a small mountain.
"This place seems to be its home. We'll leave the berries here, and when it gets hungry, it will come back to eat them."
Ba Bu looked at the table and then at the berry in his hand before happily placing it on top of the "berry mountain."
"Ba Mu~"
"Alright!" Naoki took a deep breath, not forgetting the purpose of his trip. "Let's go make friends with the Magma Beetles now."
Hearing this, Ba Bu immediately became excited, happily flying by Naoki's side. "Ba Mu Ba Mu!"
Naoki smiled faintly and put on his backpack again. "Let's go!"
He led the two Pokemon out and continued on his way.
Gordon turned back into his riding form and looked back at the cave, then at Naoki, his expression confused.
Seeing that Naoki and Ba Bu had walked away, he hurried to catch up.
After they left, an unknown amount of time passed before a green figure cautiously ran back along the narrow mountain path.
It returned to the cave and used its star-like eyes to anxiously survey the interior.
Only after confirming that the mask hadn't been lost did the Pokemon finally breathe a sigh of relief. It then picked up the mask and held it close to its chest.
But just then, it noticed that something else had been added to the cave.
Staring at the pile of berries on the stone table, the Pokemon's face froze in a dazed expression.
