After successfully evolving, Li Qian was thrilled, but he didn't make a big deal of it, not even informing his parents.
They would find out eventually, so there was no need to go out of his way to tell them.
One reason for this was to keep a low profile, as Li Qian didn't want to become the center of attention.
Having broken through to the Overlord Rank, Li Qian spent most of his time meditating over the past few days, aside from attending classes.
Although his psychic power level had improved, it was still unstable, being a recent breakthrough, and required more time to solidify.
Time flew by, and on Friday evening, after classes ended, Li Qian didn't return to the dormitory but headed straight for the school gate.
At 4:30, he arrived at the school gate, where the meeting point was located in the parking lot to the left of the main entrance.
When he got there, quite a few people, both male and female, were already waiting, all of them young.
Li Qian quietly joined them and made his way to Ding Ganmao and Wang Enci's position, waiting patiently.
After another ten minutes or so, the last person arrived, and the leader, a square-faced man, spoke up, "Since everyone is here, let's get going."
"Wait a moment, I think we should introduce ourselves first. After all, we will be teammates fighting side by side from now on." Wang Enci raised his hand and offered his suggestion as soon as the square-faced man finished speaking.
The others nodded in agreement, finding Wang Enci's suggestion reasonable.
"I'm Dakeli, from the Battle College of Shazhou Beast Mastery University, specializing in assault," the square-faced man began, introducing himself. "My expertise, as indicated by my major, is assault."
After introducing himself, Dakeli turned his attention to a distinctive-looking male student of the Han nationality beside him, "This is my partner, An Waduo, who has contracted two companion beasts, both defense-oriented. He will be our solid support in the team. He's a freshman from Western Beastmaster University and my childhood friend."
Li Qian was slightly surprised by Dakeli's introduction, as he had heard of Western Beastmaster University but didn't know much about it.
He was aware that, despite its name, Western Beastmaster University was noticeably less prestigious than Shazhou Beast Mastery University.
Of course, in the entire Western Province, aside from Shazhou Beast Mastery University, Western Beastmaster University was the only other one worth mentioning.
An Waduo seemed like a shy and quiet young man, and Dakeli's introduction on his behalf was likely due to this, as well as to boost his status within the team.
"I'm Piro, also from Western Beastmaster University, and I'm better suited for support roles," a dark-faced man continued the introductions after Dakeli.
As he spoke, he exchanged a glance with An Waduo, which was understandable since they were from the same place and knew each other.
"I'm Li Yuhu, from Shazhou Beast Mastery University," a female student of the Han nationality introduced herself after the three Han nationality students. "I primarily contract flying-type and dark-type companion beasts, making me suitable for intelligence work."
Li Yuhu indeed lived up to her name, as she was a pretty girl with a tomboyish personality.
"Wang Guanjun, also a freshman at Shazhou Beast Mastery University, I know a bit more about companion beast knowledge and extraordinary resources." The graceful Li Yuhu introduced herself, and then it was the turn of a bespectacled young man.
He was a refined-looking young man, with a scholarly air about him. At first glance, he gave off the impression of a model student.
"I'm Ding Ganmao. I have an ice-type and a water-type companion beast, capable of both control and attack." After Wang Guanjun's concise introduction, it was Ding Ganmao's turn. He glanced at Li Qian and then spoke directly.
His introduction was almost identical to the previous one.
The second-to-last person to introduce himself was Wang Enci. He briefly summarized his situation, "I'm Wang Enci, you all should know me. I have a life-type companion beast and an earth-type companion beast. In battle, I can provide some defense, and I'm also skilled in healing and restoring status."
Seeing Wang Enci's precise introduction, Li Qian followed suit, cautiously sharing his information, "I'm Li Qian. I can play the role of a main attacker or a support attacker, and I have decent control abilities. Additionally, I have some knowledge of companion beast cultivation."
After the brief introductions, the group established a preliminary trust. Dakeli led them to two off-road vehicles and pointed to them, asking, "I'll drive one, and Piro will drive the other. How do you want to arrange yourselves?"
"I'll ride with you."
"Then I'll ride with Piro..."
"..."
Without much discussion, the group of eight quickly decided on their seating arrangement.
Li Qian, the only girl in the group and also Li Yuhu's relative, along with Wang Enci, took their seats in Piro's vehicle.
Ding Ganmao, An Duowan, and Wang Guanjun boarded Dakeli's car.
The cars started and headed south. After about an hour, they left the Central Oasis, and the scenery outside the window became drastically different.
Wang Enci curiously observed the changing landscape and commented, "The scenery here is quite different from what we have in Shuzhou."
Li Qian also admired the majestic desert landscape, a sight of vast desert and setting sun, and couldn't help but agree, "Indeed, it's breathtaking."
"What's so beautiful about it? I've seen it all my life." Piro, with his dark complexion, heard their praises and shrugged nonchalantly.
He shrugged, well aware of the mindset of newcomers like Li Qian, who were experiencing the West Province for the first time. He smiled faintly and assured them, "You'll get tired of it soon enough."
Li Qian believed him, knowing that their initial awe was driven by novelty.
This sense of wonder would fade away before long.
Indeed, his prediction proved accurate.
After another half-hour, both Li Qian and Wang Enci began to feel a bit bored.
The monotonous landscape outside the window was largely unchanged.
Piro turned and noticed the waning interest of the two. He smiled and pointed ahead, "Up ahead is the Xiwusu Desert."
As Piro drove the off-road vehicle straight into the Xiwusu Desert, Li Qian couldn't help but voice his surprise, "Are we just going in like this?"
