Chapter 32: You Made Me Come All This Way Just for This?
Hermione, who was about to discuss the various uses of the Transfiguration Spell with Ivan, noticed that Ivan's gaze was becoming increasingly intense.
"Ivan, what's wrong?" Hermione said, feigning calmness.
"Follow me, I'll explain later!" In the shocked gazes of Harry and Ron, Ivan urgently grabbed Hermione's wrist and started running.
Hermione didn't even understand what was happening as she was dragged along. Harry and Ron, recovering from their shock, quickly followed out of curiosity.
Along the way, since Ivan was quite popular at the moment, many people recognized him. His behavior of pulling Hermione and running made many young witches' gossip hearts burn fiercely.
This was big news!
After all, the story of Ivan fighting the Troll and saving Hermione last night had already spread. This scene naturally fueled their imagination, and some young female witches looked disappointed but still followed out of curiosity.
George and Fred even whistled excitedly and gave Ivan a big thumbs up as he and Hermione passed by.
The crowd following them grew larger, and Ivan felt somewhat bewildered. Hermione, who had been dragged along, noticed the gazes of the people around her, and her cheeks were flushed with embarrassment. Her mind started to wander, but she felt that the path seemed increasingly familiar.
Was it the way to the library?
Sure enough, Hermione soon saw the library doors. Ivan, unusually disregarding the library's quiet tradition, quickly led Hermione to the reading area and sat her down. He then grabbed a copy of Basic Potion Recipes and Herb Analysis, which he hadn't finished reading, and opened it, handing it to Hermione and pointing to a section.
"Hermione, the third chapter, seventh section, talks about the opposing properties of Black Blood Grass and Mouse Plum. But why are they used together in many potions?"
"Huh?" Hermione snapped out of her daze, her cheeks still flushed. Realizing her misunderstanding, she felt somewhat annoyed and wished she could hide in a pile of books. When she noticed that the book Ivan had shoved into her hands was one she had read before, she calmed down and quickly got into the discussion.
"That's because the properties of Black Blood Grass are too strong, so it's usually balanced by the more gentle, opposing properties of Mouse Plum."
After Hermione finished, Ivan continued under the guise of academic exchange, flipping through the pages and asking Hermione to explain. When he knew something, he would add his own insights, leading to a mutual exchange.
By the time the exhausted Harry and Ron, along with the gossipy onlookers, arrived, they saw this harmonious scene.
"They're actually here to study?" As a member of the gossipers, George almost thought he was hallucinating.
Oh my, what is this world coming to?
The others found it hard to accept. They had come all this way just to see this?
"I think I'll go back and play Wizard chess", Ron said, dazed.
"Wood would definitely want me to practice Quidditch now", Harry nodded in agreement. They didn't want to waste their precious time in the library.
George and the others, however, were determined to stay and see how things progressed. But with such a large crowd blocking the entrance, they soon caught the attention of Madam Pince.
"Quiet! If you want to read in the library, be quiet. Otherwise, leave!" Madam Pince said impatiently.
Seeing that Madam Pince was about to kick them out, the gossipy young Wizards dispersed in disappointment, with few willing to stay.
At this moment, Ivan was so engrossed in his studies that he didn't notice anything else. He was looking at the rapidly increasing Proficiency in his System panel, feeling incredibly satisfied.
When it came to basic theoretical knowledge, there was almost nothing that Hermione didn't know, regardless of the subject. This essentially saved Ivan the trouble of cross-referencing other books.
Furthermore, the young witch's comprehension ability far surpassed that of the ordinary Ivan. Therefore, after Hermione explained things, the learning efficiency naturally increased significantly.
Hermione was like a learning accelerator. Compared to when he read books on his own without using the experience card, the growth in Proficiency was more than twice as fast!
After explaining for several pages, Hermione nervously looked up at Ivan, afraid that she might have said something wrong.
"Huh? Why did you stop?" Ivan, who had been listening to Hermione, suddenly noticed the silence and turned around to see Hermione looking at him nervously.
Ivan quickly understood the situation and hurriedly spoke up.
"You explained that part very well. I actually agree with you."
"This part is also correct, just as I thought."
"Here, I have a different interpretation."
For the next few hours, Ivan and Hermione spent their time learning and discussing.
Thanks to his hard work during the first half of the semester, Ivan had accumulated a lot of knowledge, allowing him to maintain a relatively equal status during the discussions.
Unconsciously, Ivan had already reviewed several books that he had read before but hadn't fully understood, and his reading progress had reached 100%!
[Ding, Basic Potion Recipes and Herb Analysis reading progress reaches 100%, reading reward: 5 Academic Points]
[Ding, Advanced Transfiguration reading progress reaches 100%, reading reward]
The large number of Academic Points gained from reading, combined with previous rewards and spell upgrades, once again pushed Ivan's total Academic Points over the 100 mark.
Without hesitation, Ivan took advantage of the momentum, found several challenging books, and activated the Scholar Experience Card. He read quickly while explaining to Hermione, as a way to repay her for her help.
Ivan had thought this would significantly slow down his learning efficiency while using the experience card, but to his surprise, after he explained his insights and provided some explanations, Hermione immediately understood.
Her learning and memory abilities truly made Ivan feel embarrassed.
However, what Ivan didn't know was that Hermione was also under a lot of pressure. Sweat soon appeared on her forehead as she had to use her already sharp mind at full speed to understand the increasingly profound explanations from Ivan.
This realization made Hermione, who had thought she had a slight advantage in theoretical knowledge after some time of discussion, feel a bit disheartened. Perhaps Ivan's previous questions were to test her progress, and now he was showing his true level?
