Chapter 32: The Second Interstellar Exploration
Chapter 32: The Second Interstellar Exploration
Next, Song Chi eagerly opened the local network's trading marketplace.
It was no surprise that this was the regional chat group for the entire Circlet of the White Tower Floating Land. The sheer number of participants had created a marketplace brimming with a diverse array of goods.
Minerals, gene serums, military exoskeletons, first and second-tier Floating Land essences—there were even a good number of Star Sea curios.
After a thorough scan, Song Chi felt a bit overwhelmed. The marketplace was filled with so many items, and there were plenty that caught his eye.
Unfortunately, he didn't have much capital at the moment, so he could only look on with longing.
There were many Star Sea curios listed, but they were all of white quality. There were only a few blue-quality curios, and those were mostly of dubious value, such as:
Curio: Green Yi Tree
Quality: Blue
Evolvable: {Green Yi Internal Circulation System}
Note: A blue-quality curio that enhances air circulation, ensuring fresh air every day in your future star life.
As everyone knew, the Ember Fleet ships already had built-in circulation systems. While the Green Yi Tree might improve air circulation, what was the point? It didn't increase combat power or provide any defensive benefits. Spending a significant amount of resources just to make the air in his Ember Fleet ship a bit fresher didn't seem worth it.
...
Half an hour later, Song Chi's initial excitement began to fade, and his curiosity settled into a more measured interest.
He also pondered the anonymity feature of his account, wondering if he could use it to mask his frequent trades in the future.
But on second thought, he realized it might not be a good idea. The special permissions for his account came from an auxiliary activation officer at the Jiangyuan Ember Fleet branch. If a regular activation officer could do it, then the confidentiality level couldn't be very high.
To play it safe, he decided to abandon the idea.
After disconnecting from the Ember Network, Song Chi returned to the Multiverse Market, continuing his daily routine of practicing the Ethereal Energy Guidance Technique and visualizing the mythic mech projection in his mind. Time passed day by day in this routine.
Over the next ten days, Song Chao returned home very infrequently, spending most of his time out and about. This caused his mother, Chen Lixia, to complain multiple times. Song Chi, knowing what his father was up to, didn't ask too many questions. It involved titanium crystals, and with his newly awakened abilities, he couldn't get involved, nor would Song Chao allow it.
On this day, accompanied by his mother, Chen Lixia, Song Chi headed to the city outskirts once again.
The Canopy had completed its month-long cooldown, and today was the day for his second interstellar exploration. Of course, he could delay it further or even skip the exploration altogether, but Song Chi wouldn't choose that path.
With the "Dark Matter Energy Shield Generator," an orange-quality component, he was eager to test its effects as soon as possible.
With this component, as long as he wasn't extremely unlucky and encountered black holes, star storms, or spatial rifts, his safety would be assured.
Just like the White-Winged Clan he encountered before, the Canopy, even if it remained stationary and allowed them to attack for ten minutes, would likely not have its shield broken.
The energy shield generated by the Dark Matter Energy Shield Generator was not just stronger in terms of shield value but also in defensive power. The attacks from the first-tier White-Winged Clan would cause significantly less damage to the new energy shield compared to the previous Ethereal Energy Shield.
The combined effect of these factors means the disparity is far greater than anyone could have imagined.
...
On the outskirts of Jiangyuan City.
It was still the same interstellar deployment platform, but this time, the deployers were not just students from various universities. Many more were civilian ember ship captains from Jiangyuan City.
With a population exceeding twenty million, even if only a few dozen ordinary citizens were fortunate enough to awaken the ember seed each year, the cumulative number of ember ships over a decade or a century would be staggering.
Among these ember ships, over ninety percent would remain at the psionic shuttle stage for their entire lives.
The lowest-level psionic shuttle-grade ember ships could only rely on the ultra-long-range interstellar deployment platform for exploration.
Only when the ember ship's hull was reinforced to level 10 and advanced to the first tier (psionic airship) could it conduct interstellar exploration independently, without the assistance of the deployment platform.
This created the current scene of a massive crowd, with the number of ships waiting for deployment far exceeding the previous university deployments.
Song Chi had just arrived when Sun Hao also approached. His gaze swept over Song Chi, causing Song Chi's brow to twitch.
Clearly, Sun Hao hadn't relaxed over the past month. His guiding technique had advanced from level 3 to level 4, adding to the already formidable pressure he exuded with his imposing physique.
"Bro Chi, you actually broke through too."
After a moment of surprise, Sun Hao paused. Just as Song Chi was curious about what he was going to say, Sun Hao suddenly blurted out a line that was incredibly cheesy.
"Alas, since there is Yu, why must there be Liang!"
Song Chi's eyes twitched, and he was momentarily at a loss for words. This guy always managed to pull off some completely out-of-character antics that didn't match his bulky frame.
Worse, the line was from his previously published book, "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms on the Great Han Floating Land." Song Chi couldn't help but feel a deep sense of exasperation.
Pushing Sun Hao's bear-like hand off his shoulder, Song Chi quickly put some distance between them. It was too awkward, and he was on the verge of having a full-blown awkward moment.
Sun Hao, oblivious to the awkwardness, soon moved closer again, his massive arm wrapping around Song Chi's neck.
Song Chi's face visibly darkened, but fortunately, the hundred people in front of them had just completed their deployment. The ember bureau officer on the side of the platform was now calling out to their group.
One hundred figures stepped onto the deployment platform, took their positions, and summoned their psionic shuttles. Once all one hundred psionic shuttles were ready, the ember bureau officer activated the ultra-long-range star sea deployment platform.
A towering beam of light appeared, and the one hundred psionic shuttles quickly vanished without a trace.
A familiar sensation of weightlessness swept over Song Chi, but this time, his return was faster than it had been a month ago.
Breaking through to level 5 in the guiding technique had given his physical condition a slight boost, naturally enhancing his body's resistance to negative states.
Upon returning, Song Chi, like before, immediately activated the energy shield of the Azure Sky.
When the dark matter energy shield, generated by the "dark matter energy shield generator" component, appeared, he finally relaxed.
The sense of security provided by the orange-quality energy shield was truly remarkable.
