Chapter 32: The Crimson Dragon's Wrath (3)
"Roar—!"
A thunderous, ear-splitting roar erupted from the abyss, splitting the sky like a blade. The crimson dragon surged forward, wings unfurling like a storm, diving straight toward the battlefield below.
Just as they were about to meet the dragon’s descent, a sudden crimson silhouette flashed across the heavens.
The crimson dragon’s face, now fully visible, stared down at the silhouette—its eyes blazing with fury. For a moment, it seemed as though the world had frozen.
"Master!" the dragon bellowed, voice trembling with rage.
The crimson dragon’s roar echoed through the air, its power shaking the very fabric of reality. As the dragon descended, its wings flared wide, casting a shadow that swallowed the battlefield whole.
Below, the sky darkened as the dragon’s shadow swept over the land. The warriors below—those who had survived the first onslaught—could only watch in horror as the dragon’s silhouette loomed overhead, a monstrous shape descending from the heavens.
"Is that... the Crimson Dragon?" one of them whispered, voice trembling.
They had waited for days. How could it have found them so quickly?
The dragon’s arrival had been anticipated—the legendary "Great Demon Beast" was said to have been sealed beneath the earth for centuries. Was it truly the dragon that had broken free?
Yet, as the dragon descended, its shadow stretching across the battlefield, the warriors could only feel their hearts sink.
"Such a dense formation..." one murmured.
"Is it really the Crimson Dragon?" another asked, voice barely audible.
No one answered. The dragon’s presence was overwhelming. Its crimson scales glimmered like molten fire, its eyes burning with ancient malice. The air itself seemed to crackle with power.
"Roar!" the dragon roared again, its voice echoing across the land.
The dragon landed with a quake that sent shockwaves through the ground. The earth cracked beneath its massive claws. The warriors stood frozen, their weapons trembling in their hands.
"Unleash your power!" the dragon bellowed, its voice like thunder.
The warriors raised their weapons, but their hearts were heavy. They had no idea how to fight something so powerful.
The dragon’s gaze swept across the battlefield, locking onto the group of warriors.
"Let me see your strength," it growled.
Suddenly, a sharp, piercing sound cut through the air—a high-pitched whistle, like the wind slicing through steel.
The dragon’s head snapped toward the source.
From the clouds above, a figure descended—silent, swift, and precise.
It was a warrior clad in armor of silver and blue, her hair flowing behind her like a banner. Her eyes glowed with an otherworldly light.
"Who are you?" the dragon snarled.
The warrior landed gracefully, her blade drawn.
"I am Aklennia," she said, voice calm yet unwavering. "And I have come to stop you."
The dragon let out a mocking laugh.
"You? Stop me? You’re nothing but a speck in the sky."
Aklennia didn’t flinch.
"Then let’s see how long you last."
She charged.
The dragon roared, unleashing a torrent of fire that lit up the entire battlefield.
But Aklennia was faster.
She dodged the flames, her blade slicing through the air with precision. The dragon roared in fury, its tail lashing out like a whip.
The warriors watched in awe. This was no ordinary battle. This was a clash of titans.
Aklennia moved like a storm—fluid, relentless, precise. She struck with the speed of lightning, each blow aimed at the dragon’s weak points.
The dragon fought back with brute force, its claws tearing through the air. But Aklennia was always one step ahead.
The battlefield trembled under their clash. The ground cracked. Trees were uprooted. The sky itself seemed to bleed.
"Master!" the dragon roared again, its voice filled with pain.
Aklennia paused, her blade still raised.
"Enough," she said. "You don’t have to fight."
The dragon hesitated.
"Why?" it growled.
"Because you’re not alone," Aklennia said. "There are others like you. Others who were trapped. Others who were betrayed."
The dragon’s eyes flickered with something—uncertainty, perhaps even sorrow.
Aklennia stepped forward.
"Let me help you."
The dragon stared at her, then slowly lowered its head.
"…You are not like the others," it whispered.
Aklennia smiled.
"Then let’s begin."
