Chapter 32: Camerupt!
Chapter 32: Camerupt!
BOOM!!
The ground split open like a torn cloth, sending a shower of rocks flying in all directions. A massive crevice appeared, as if the earth itself had opened its maw to swallow everything in its path.
Camerupt's "Earthquake" had finally landed.
After all, in a situation where absolute power wasn't a given, no one would willingly send their Pokemon to face the full force of an "Earthquake," right?
The sheer impact made Jing He feel as though the entire mountain was shaking violently.
The only silver lining was that Camerupt's "Earthquake," despite its grand display, hadn't caused any harm to Jing He or Daisaku's Pokemon.
Jing He and Daisaku, having let go of the Metagross, landed back on the ground.
In reality, the enraged Camerupt, with its vision obscured, couldn't lock onto Gastly and the others.
But this couldn't go on forever.
Who knew if another few "Earthquakes" might cause the magma inside Chimney Mountain to surge even more dangerously.
However, the current situation was such that even if Jing He and Daisaku wanted to end this quickly, they couldn't do so just by wishing it.
Moreover, due to Camerupt's state and the power gap between the two sides, Gastly's debuff moves likely wouldn't have much of an effect.
But Jing He was determined to give it a try.
"Gastly, Smog!"
If they got lucky and managed to poison Camerupt, combined with the "Curse" and Daisaku's Pokemon, the outcome should be better.
"Kya!"
Gastly sighed inwardly.
This was way too difficult.
Camerupt was clearly far stronger than it, and trying to wear it down was practically impossible.
But Gastly wasn't one to back down. If this was the only way, then so be it. There didn't seem to be a better plan.
"Teacher Jing He, try this."
Noticing Jing He's actions, Daisaku suddenly tossed over a blackish-purple sphere, encased in a special transparent protective film.
Huh?
Jing He caught the sphere and was momentarily taken aback.
A Toxic Orb?!
You, a Steel-type trainer, carry a "Toxic Orb" with you?
This thing isn't cheap at all.
Toxic Orb: A sphere filled with potent poison gas. Carrying it will cause the user to enter a "Badly Poisoned" state (Caution: Do not ingest! Do not ingest!)
But now wasn't the time to dwell on such things.
Gripping the "Toxic Orb" tightly, Jing He had a bold idea.
"Kya?"
Gastly's eyes lit up at the sight of the "Toxic Orb," clearly eager to use it.
"Kya!"
Jing He tossed the orb to Gastly but quickly added, "Gastly, hold onto it for now. We'll find a way to get it to Camerupt!"
"Kya?!"
Gastly's voice rose several octaves.
"Don't worry, I'll get it back once Camerupt is down," Jing He reassured.
Daisaku, standing nearby, overheard and nodded in understanding.
So that's the plan.
"Daisaku, try to distract it. I'll look for an opportunity with Gastly," Jing He said.
"Got it!"
Meanwhile, on the other side, Camerupt showed no signs of calming down after using "Earthquake." The volcano on its back continued to erupt, and a ball of flame was forming in its mouth.
Here it comes!
Jing He and Daisaku both thought simultaneously.
Camerupt suddenly lifted its head and fired a stream of flames upward, which formed an orange-red fireball in mid-air and exploded, sending flames in all directions!
Flamethrow!
This was it!
The eyes of Metagross and Baltoy glowed blue with the glow of Psychic energy, doing their best to shield against the incoming flames.
Pelipper flapped its wings in the air, producing a harsh, grating sound to draw Camerupt's attention.
Dugtrio, summoned again, stomped the ground, causing rocks to shoot up and form two rock chains that bound Camerupt, temporarily restricting its movements!
"Ghostly!" Jing He called out.
"Kya!"
Suddenly, Gastly appeared in front of Camerupt, spitting the "Toxic Orb" directly into Camerupt's mouth.
Heh!
Take this!
Swallow!
Gulp—
Camerupt gulped down the "Toxic Orb."
Before it could react, a purple haze spread across its face.
It was now "Badly Poisoned"!
Its body shook uncontrollably, its vision blurring, and its limbs weakening.
Due to its "Rage" state, the Camerupt's blood flow accelerated, and its physical activity increased, which in turn sped up the spread of the toxins throughout its body.
At the same time, its "Rage" had been ongoing for a while, leaving its body nearly exhausted. The "Toxic" status also accelerated its internal consumption, making the effects particularly swift.
The Camerupt shook its head a few times, the purple haze around its body becoming more pronounced, and its steps grew increasingly unsteady.
It still tried to launch an attack.
But it was stopped.
Finally, under Jing He and Da Wu's watchful eyes, the Camerupt collapsed heavily to the ground.
Seeing this, Jing He and Da Wu exchanged a glance, both letting out a long sigh of relief.
Now they could focus on finding a way to seal the lava fissure.
Gastly, at Jing He's signal, was already exploring the rock layers to find the best spot and angle for the repair.
However, just when you think things are wrapping up, the unexpected often occurs.
Rumbling—
Heavy footsteps echoed from another tunnel.
Immediately after, a wave of heat washed over them, as if scorching lava was surging through the tunnel.
Looking towards the tunnel that was gradually glowing with firelight, Jing He and Da Wu's expressions changed simultaneously.
When they saw the vague silhouette in the dim tunnel, Jing He's pupils constricted slightly.
A massive red-brown body, seemingly forged from lava and steel, with strong, metallic-glossed limbs that clung firmly to the rock walls, almost hanging upside down.
Its eyes, like blazing flames, locked onto Jing He and Da Wu.
Another expert?
Feeling the threat, Da Wu's Pokemon gathered around the two of them.
Jing He quickly stopped Da Wu, speaking in a low, serious tone, "Don't move!"
Da Wu understood, calming his Pokemon while asking, "What is—"
He could clearly feel the pressure emanating from the figure, as if a vast sea of lava was pressing down on them, leaving them with little chance to counterattack.
This wasn't just a matter of a power gap.
Jing He let out a helpless laugh, lowering his voice, and said slowly, "A legendary Pokemon born from lava—"
"The guardian of the volcano, Steelix, Heatran!"
"A legendary Pokemon, Fire/Steel?" Da Wu was taken aback, his eyes gleaming slightly.
As a fan of Steel-type Pokemon, Da Wu was well aware of what a Pokemon with both Fire and Steel types represented.
Five quadruple resistances, four double resistances!
Jing He was even more familiar with Heatran.
Before the release of "Sword/Shield," Heatran was one of the most frequently used Pokemon in Pokemon battles.
Its advantage naturally came from the combination of Fire and Steel types, though it was quadruple weak to Ground-type moves. However, carrying the item "Balloon" could mitigate this issue to some extent.
Both "Flash Fire" and "Flame Body" were excellent abilities.
But with the appearance of stronger Fire-type Pokemon, Heatran gradually became less of a go-to choice, especially after the introduction of the move "Hot Sand."
Even so, whenever Heatran was mentioned, someone would often joke, "Isn't it true that no volcano Pokemon can resist spewing fire?"
But that was Heatran from Jing He's previous life in the games. Now, standing before them, was a legendary Pokemon with an overwhelming presence!
However.
After a moment of staring at each other, Heatran seemed to have no intention of attacking.
In fact.
Heatran even waved its claw at them.
"It's... telling us to leave?" Da Wu was unsure, looking at Jing He.
'Is Heatran guarding Chimney Mountain?'
Jing He thought to himself.
After Heatran appeared, the lava that was leaking out seemed to be stopping.
"Gastly," Jing He called out, "Let's go!"
"Or—kek—" Gastly's voice echoed from the lava fissure.
There's a strange red stone here.
Through the fissure, they could vaguely see Gastly flying in circles above the lava, as if it had discovered something.
Da Wu's eyes lit up.
A stone?
But Jing He and Heatran's eyes widened simultaneously.
"Get away from that damned stone quickly!"
"Or kek?"
Gastly: ( )
