Chapter 319: Wizard of Strength Jerry (First Update)
Chapter 319: Wizard of Strength Jerry (First Update)
Jerry had a pretty good idea that Dumbledore was wary of him. Given his performance at school, Dumbledore, who was not exactly a fool, would naturally be cautious.
However, now Dumbledore likely believed that Jerry would become a trusted ally to the chosen one, Harry, and help Harry defeat the potentially resurrected Voldemort.
With this in mind, if Jerry sought Dumbledore's guidance on magic in the future, it would likely be less of an issue.
Dumbledore, currently the most powerful and knowledgeable witch in the magical world, had been a source of envy for Jerry for a long time.
If Jerry could receive long-term guidance from Dumbledore, his magical theoretical knowledge would undoubtedly reach new heights.
Using the castle's enchanted stairs, Jerry quickly returned to the Slytherin dormitory.
The Malfoy Trio, likely exhausted, were already fast asleep.
Jerry sat on his bed, looking at the Time-Turner in his hand, which consisted of a golden chain and a sandglass. A sudden thought struck him:
"Why not give it a try now!"
Holding the Time-Turner, Jerry, as a precaution, cast a stunning spell on the Malfoy Trio before using a Disillusionment Charm to make himself invisible. He then left the Slytherin dormitory and headed out of the castle.
Spreading his wings, he flew over the two Dementors guarding the entrance and landed on a dark, narrow path not far from the gate.
Dispelling the Flight Charm and the Disguise Charm, Jerry once again took out the Time-Turner, took a deep breath, and began his first experience with time magic.
Checking the time, he turned the sandglass on the Time-Turner four times. Instantly, a familiar magical pulse emanated from the Time-Turner, similar to the magic he had previously studied with the "Time" card.
In an instant, it felt like a century had passed. Jerry felt himself entering a river of time, being dragged backward by powerful temporal laws. The sound of something pounding in his ears, yet no sound was heard, and his vision was a blur of clouds and shapes.
"So this is time magic? Quite fascinating indeed!"
When he returned to normal, Jerry looked at the Time-Turner in his hand, a thoughtful expression on his face.
He had now returned to four hours in the past.
Summoning a Patronus to bind the Dementors, Jerry left his original position and, calculating the time, invisibly returned to the first floor of Hogwarts Castle.
However, just as he was about to return to the Slytherin dormitory in the basement, he seemed to have another idea and turned to use a flying spell to drift towards the fourth-floor corridor.
"It's time to get the Philosopher's Stone!"
Previously, he had been wary of Dumbledore's power and lacked confidence in overcoming all the obstacles to retrieve the Philosopher's Stone from the Mirror of Erised, which Dumbledore had personally sealed.
But now, he felt the task should be manageable. Even if he failed, he was confident he could avoid being discovered by Dumbledore.
"Alohomora!"
Using a Silencing Charm to mask his magical signature and an Illusion to prevent the moving figures in nearby portraits from noticing anything, Jerry cast Alohomora to open the wooden door at the end of the fourth-floor corridor.
Jerry then calmly approached the first obstacle guarding the Philosopher's Stone: Fluffy.
"Silence!"
First, he eliminated all sound to prevent Fluffy's barks from alarming others.
"Strength!"
Then, using the principle of the Strength card, he temporarily gained superhuman strength on par with Hulk's.
The door opened, and Fluffy immediately sensed the presence of an intruder. The three massive heads instantly opened their jaws and lunged at Jerry.
Jerry was well-prepared. He bent his legs, and with a burst of immense power, he became a blur, easily dodging the bites from Fluffy's three heads.
Then, he planted his right hand on the stone ceiling, leaving a palm print, and swung his right leg like a massive axe, striking the top of Fluffy's middle head.
"Boom!"
Thanks to the Silence spell, no sound was heard, but the floor was cracked open, and Fluffy's middle head immediately passed out.
At this moment, the remaining two heads lunged at Jerry.
In a flash, Jerry appeared above the two heads and delivered two quick aerial kicks, sending them to join the first head in unconsciousness.
"Awesome!"
Landing, he stretched and felt a sense of invigoration.
While an elegant wizard would ideally use magic to resolve battles with a wave of the hand, Jerry had always adhered to this principle.
After all, even with Brain Boost, his physical strength was comparable to that of an average Asgardian, but it still fell far short when compared to the comprehensive power of magic.
Moreover, close-quarters combat was dangerous, and a single misstep could lead to a quick defeat.
However, in a previous life, Jerry had been a martial arts and combat enthusiast, or more accurately, a bit of a middle-schooler with a fascination for kung fu. "One Stick in Hand, No Heads in a Hundred Acres of Rapeseed" was a testament to this.
So sometimes, even when he knew a single spell could resolve a situation, he still wanted to show off his martial skills.
But he had always suppressed this urge for his own safety.
Now, after studying the principles of the Strength card and acquiring the Strength spell, which granted him Hulk-like power for a short time, he finally had the opportunity to showcase his martial prowess.
Still, Jerry remained rational. He would only occasionally engage in close combat when the enemy's strength was far below his own. In crucial battles, he would always prioritize the safety and reliability of magic.
His current magical prowess was formidable, but if his body were destroyed, it would be a significant inconvenience. While he wouldn't die, he could slowly work on resurrection using his powerful soul and Soul Magic, but it would be a time-consuming and potentially risky endeavor.
After using the last available slot for a soul contract to bind Fluffy into the Box Space, Jerry opened the trapdoor and leaped down.
Previously, in Greece, he had found and contracted a few Three-Headed Dogs. Now that Fluffy was in the Box Space, it could keep them company, and perhaps, over time, they could even breed a few more Three-Headed Dogs.
"Lumos!"
Sliding down the tunnel for a while, Jerry landed on the Devil's Snare that Professor Sprout, the Hufflepuff head, had set up.
Before the Devil's Snare could attack, he cast Lumos, causing the plant to shrink back in fear.
Devil's Snare is an extremely aggressive magical plant with high physical and magical resistance, but its weakness is a fear of light and heat, thriving in dark, damp environments.
Therefore, both Lumos and Incendio can repel it.
