Chapter 318: You're Afraid, Aren't You?
Chapter 318: You’re Afraid, Aren’t You?
Ivan’s words left Hermione completely stunned.
At the tender age of thirteen, she had never come face to face with the concept of killing, let alone imagine the scene of beheading an enemy.
Hermione bit her lower lip, wanting to say that she could do it, but the words stuck in her throat, her eyes clouded with mist.
"You’re afraid, aren’t you?" Ivan cruelly attacked Hermione’s confidence. "But those Dark Wizards will be even more terrifying than what I’ve described!"
Ivan felt that even he would struggle to defeat those Dark Wizards, and he would need the advantage of a suitable location and the power of the Invisibility Cloak. He certainly couldn’t afford to protect Hermione, who had little combat experience.
If she were to join, it would likely be a near-certain death.
Ivan didn’t have the extra energy to protect Hermione.
"So do you understand? Leave those black-robed wizards to me." Ivan said.
"But there are so many of them!" Hermione was worried and suggested, "Why don’t we take your mother and leave first? We can go to Hogwarts, those Dark Wizards wouldn’t dare to go there!"
"And we could ask Professor Dumbledore for help", Hermione racked her brain for ideas.
"You don’t understand my mother. She wouldn’t go to Hogwarts." Ivan shook his head, rejecting Hermione’s suggestion.
Aisha and Dumbledore didn’t get along at all. Just mentioning Dumbledore’s name would make her furious, and she would rather fight to the death than seek his help.
"Just don’t worry too much", Ivan looked at Hermione’s worried face and said in a relaxed tone, "You said it yourself, there’s nothing I can’t do, right? This time will be no different!"
That’s not what I meant!
Hermione glared at Ivan, but she didn’t bring up the topic of dealing with the Dark Wizards again.
Ivan’s words had made her realize her own weakness. If she were to force herself into the battle, she might not only be useless but also a burden to Ivan.
"I’ll stay here and watch you." Hermione hesitated for a long time before finally speaking.
"Okay!" Ivan nodded, relieved. He didn’t want Hermione to get hurt because of him.
Then, Ivan turned his attention to the distant Dark Magic Shop.
Following the historical thread, Ivan tried to decipher the message left by his future self.
Could it mean not to actively change things, but to wait for them to come here? To let everything happen naturally and only use illusions to cover the truth at critical moments?
Ivan frowned. He didn’t like being passive. He preferred to take the initiative.
At the same time, Ivan noticed that Aisha was still in the same position, supporting her cheek with her right hand and staring at the clock on the wall. He wondered how long she had been lost in thought.
It seemed there had been no customers in the shop for a while, and Aisha was quite bored.
But why was she staring at the clock? What was the significance?
As Ivan pondered this, a faint chime sounded, clearly coming from the clock on the wall.
To Ivan’s surprise, Aisha, who had been lost in thought, suddenly moved.
In the magic shop, Aisha looked at the clock, which now read four o’clock. A hint of anticipation appeared on her face as she muttered to herself.
"It's about time, right? Would it be too early to go now?"
Better to be a bit early.
Aisha stood up, walked out of the magic shop, and grabbed the purple cloak hanging by the door, draping it over herself. She then stretched out her hand, pointing her wand behind her.
With a bang, the door of the magic shop slammed shut.
"Apparate!" Aisha didn’t linger at the door, waving her wand again and disappearing on the spot.
On a distant hill, Ivan, who had been watching, was completely stunned. The person he was supposed to protect had vanished right before his eyes?
"Where did she go? Why did she leave?" Ivan muttered to himself, confused.
There was only a little over an hour left until the Dark Magic Shop would be attacked. With Aisha gone, who would the Death Eaters target?
Ivan was anxious. Although Aisha wasn’t here, he could still turn the magic shop into a trap to lure the Death Eaters. But what if Aisha returned later?
"Where could she be at four o'clock?" Ivan remembered that Aisha had been checking the time earlier and glanced at the clock on the wall through the window.
"She must have gone to King's Cross Station!" Hermione suddenly spoke up.
King's Cross Station? Ivan turned to look at Hermione, then realized that today was the day Hogwarts students were on holiday, and the train would arrive at King's Cross Station in London in the evening!
Aisha might have gone there to pick him up!
"But that shouldn’t be the case. I didn’t see her at the station when I arrived!" Ivan frowned, remembering clearly that he had waited for a long time at King's Cross Station after getting off the train without seeing Aisha.
That was why he hadn’t even considered this possibility before.
Unless the past had been changed!
Or perhaps Aisha never went to King's Cross Station.
Ivan decided to check it out personally and said to Hermione, "Hold on to me, we’re going to King's Cross Station!"
Knockturn Alley was too dangerous, and even with the Invisibility Cloak, Ivan didn’t dare leave Hermione here alone.
"Okay!" Hermione nodded and tightly held Ivan’s left hand.
Ivan instructed Hermione to hold onto the edge of the Invisibility Cloak to avoid leaving it behind during the Apparition, then waved his wand with his right hand.
"Apparate!"
With a spatial shift, the two figures disappeared from Knockturn Alley.
At the same moment, Ivan and Hermione appeared in a corner of King's Cross Station. Since they were wearing the Invisibility Cloak, they didn’t cause any panic in the crowded area.
Ivan steadied himself and looked around, spotting several familiar faces. Mr. Granger, Hermione’s father, and Arthur and Molly, Ron’s parents, were waiting in front of Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.
But where was Aisha? Wasn’t she here?
Ivan scanned the area, feeling puzzled, and then saw Aisha, wearing the purple cloak, walking in from the station entrance.
Ivan remembered that Aisha, without the Invisibility Cloak, couldn’t Apparate directly into the station and would naturally arrive a bit later.
"What’s going on here?" Seeing Aisha really at the station, Ivan was thoroughly confused. Why didn’t he meet her back then?
