Chapter 318: The Conversation in the Headmaster's Office (Third Update)
Chapter 318: The Conversation in the Headmaster's Office (Third Update)
"Professor, are you going to ask me about the incident on the train?"
After Hermione left, Jerry smiled and asked Snape.
Snape managed to force a semblance of a smile, though it was hard to tell if it could be called one, and reassured Jerry:
"Jerry, you're very smart, and you don't need to worry. Just report what happened on the train to Headmaster Dumbledore truthfully!"
"Mr. Carmen, I just heard some incredible things from the two student council presidents and wanted to verify them with you."
Dumbledore, dressed in a luxurious deep green robe adorned with stars and moons, spoke to Jerry with a kind expression.
"Of course, Headmaster Dumbledore!"
Jerry had anticipated that Dumbledore might want to speak with him. After all, the power he displayed on the train far exceeded that of a normal witch and could potentially impact the entire wizarding world. How could Dumbledore not be concerned?
Thus, Jerry repeated the explanation he had given to Hermione and the others on the train to the three of them.
However, before doing so, he had already used Occlumency on himself.
"So, Mr. Carmen, you learned the patronus charm in Greece, and the patronus you summoned is a giant. Could you demonstrate it for us now?"
Dumbledore's tone was noticeably more excited.
Seeing the expectant looks on Dumbledore, Snape, and Mcgonagall's faces, Jerry pointed his wand and said:
"Expecto Patronum!"
A two-meter-tall patronus was summoned in the office by Jerry.
"Since the patronus is too large to fit in here, I've summoned the third form, which is the human form. It's less powerful but more flexible and convenient."
After summoning the patronus, Jerry explained the principle behind the third form patronus he had developed.
Dumbledore, Mcgonagall, and Snape exchanged glances. Although it was hard to believe, the evidence was right in front of them. Jerry had indeed learned the patronus charm and even improved it. His magical talent was truly remarkable.
However, it was only because his patronus was a giant that it needed improvement. Most people's patronuses didn't require such modifications.
"Can you restore it to the second form?"
Dumbledore waved his hand, and without a wand or incantation, the space in the headmaster's office expanded tenfold.
Jerry's eyes widened in admiration. Dumbledore truly lived up to his reputation, performing wandless and wordless magic with such skill. The level of the extension charm was also impressive.
Jerry waved his hand at the patronus, and the two-meter-tall figure instantly transformed into a ten-meter-tall giant form.
"Truly a giant patronus!"
Seeing the ten-meter-tall giant patronus standing in the headmaster's office, Dumbledore, Mcgonagall, and Snape couldn't help but exclaim in amazement.
In the history of the wizarding world, a giant patronus had only appeared once, and that was in ancient Greece with the invincible Andros. He was a figure who dominated his era.
Although magic has advanced significantly since ancient Greece, Jerry's giant patronus alone placed him among the top tier of witches in practical combat.
How could they not be impressed?
"Very well, Mr. Carmen. Excellent. We have all the information we need. You can go back and rest now!"
Dumbledore's attitude became even more gentle after confirming that Jerry's patronus was indeed a giant.
If Dumbledore had previously been somewhat wary of Jerry, that wariness had now almost completely dissipated.
Jerry dismissed his patronus, then politely and gracefully bid goodnight to Dumbledore, Snape, and Professor Mcgonagall before turning to leave the headmaster's office.
"Headmaster Dumbledore, I told you, he's different from the Dark Lord. He's more like me, just braver. I believe he will surely become a great witch from Slytherin in the future!"
After Jerry left, Snape turned to Dumbledore, his tone tinged with a hint of pride.
"I agree with Professor Snape. Mr. Carmen is indeed an exceptional witch. I confirmed this the first time I met him at the orphanage.
However, I never expected the Sorting Hat to place him in Slytherin. He would have been better suited to Gryffindor."
Professor Mcgonagall couldn't help but sigh.
Snape's mouth twitched at Professor Mcgonagall's words, but he didn't argue, as she was, after all, speaking in Jerry's favor.
But in his heart, he truly believed that Jerry had nothing to do with Gryffindor. Jerry was as pure a Slytherin as could be. From the first year when he encouraged Jerry to join the Slytherin Quidditch team as a seeker, he had already understood this.
"Very well, Severus. I admit I may have had a slight bias against him before, but now I share your view. I hope you will spend more time guiding him; he may well become one of the pillars of the wizarding world!"
Since Jerry became famous at school, Dumbledore had been paying attention to him. Born in an orphanage, entering Slytherin, excelling academically, and being revered by peers and even older witches, receiving consistent praise from all the professors.
The signs Jerry has shown over the past two years are eerily similar to those of Voldemort, whom Dumbledore had personally brought to Hogwarts from the orphanage. In fact, Jerry has even outshone the young Voldemort.
At least Voldemort had no notable achievements in Quidditch during his school years.
So, how could Dumbledore not have felt some caution?
What if Hogwarts were to produce a second Voldemort, a second Dark Lord?
But now, he had mostly put those concerns to rest.
Because Jerry had summoned a patronus!
As Jerry walked through the corridors of Hogwarts, a smile played on his lips. He knew that once he revealed his patronus, Dumbledore would have a much more favorable opinion of him.
The reason was simple: a person with an evil heart cannot summon a patronus, like Voldemort and his loyal Death Eaters.
However, this isn't absolute. If someone summons a patronus before turning evil, the patronus will not disappear even if they later become evil.
For example, Umbridge, who later joined Voldemort, had a patronus in the form of a cat.
Similarly, the Ministry of Magic believed that Sirius Black could summon a patronus because he learned the charm at school, before he became a Death Eater. Therefore, they were not surprised that Sirius Black could still summon a patronus.
Jerry learned the patronus charm during the summer and could summon a giant patronus, which at least indicated that he was currently good.
