Chapter 318: A Taste of Power for the Foreigners
Chapter 318: A Taste of Power for the Foreigners (Monthly Vote Request)
The crowd nodded in agreement as they surveyed the ruins of the once-grand arena.
They couldn’t wait to see the expressions of competitors from other nations when facing Lin Qi.
“Let’s enjoy the show!”
“We’ll give the foreigners a little shock,” Guo Heng added with a grin.
...
Moriyama Aya stood in the Ruins Arena, her delicate face framed by glossy black hair, her tall frame clad in a sleek water-blue combat suit summoned the moment she materialized in a crimson light. Gripping her longsword, she scanned the battlefield, her expression steely.
“I represent Sakura. I’ll carve our nation’s pride into this arena,” she vowed, killing intent blazing. “Anyone who dares oppose me will die.”
The air crackled with her ferocity.
[Countdown Sequence complete!]
[Second Preliminary Match begins!]
The automated voice echoed. Moriyama Aya, fluent in Xia Kingdom’s language, sprang into action.
“Die!”
Chaos erupted. Contestants roared like beasts, weapons flashing as they lunged from the rubble.
“Face your end!” A dark-skinned Indian competitor, wielding a curved saber like a monkey brandishing a stick, charged Moriyama Aya.
Shhhk—
She smirked, vanishing in a phantom blur. Her blade sliced through his neck in a silver arc.
Thud.
In seconds, three more fell beneath her blade.
“She’s unstoppable! Run!” opponents cried, fleeing.
Moriyama Aya surged forward, her sword merging with the wind itself.
Puchi! Puchi!
Eight fell in under a minute.
...
Back on Sakura’s Floating Isle, a white-robed woman watched the carnage. “Aya’s a true S-Rank Genius. Even as runner-up in our Freshman Competition, she’s fearsome.”
“Her sword dances like a storm—graceful yet lethal,” a tall man added. “She’ll dominate outside Sakura. I hope she claims Xia Kingdom scalps to boost our confidence.”
...
Meanwhile, Lin Qi crouched in the ruined streets, his black combat suit blending into the shadows. As the match began, he extended his spiritual senses instead of moving.
Dozens of geniuses from across the world flared their vital energy—his radar caught them all.
One target locked onto him: a hulking Indian swordsman. Spotting Lin Qi’s Xia Kingdom insignia, he charged.
“Wake up, Xia dog!” he bellowed, saber cleaving the air. “You’ll be my first trophy!”
Thud.
Blood sprayed. The giant collapsed, his throat slit impossibly fast.
“How…?” he gasped, dead before hitting the ground.
Lin Qi vanished, reappearing like lightning behind another opponent. His Black Long Spear pierced flesh—puchi—then moved to the next.
Competitors froze. The giant had been erased. No one saw Lin Qi move.
“Run!!” someone screamed.
But they fell like wheat stalks. Thirty died in a minute, cut down before lifting a finger.
Only when Lin Qi halted at a crossroads did the slaughter end. Across the street, a white-clad figure approached—Moriyama Aya.
Their eyes met. Recognition sparked.
“Xia Kingdom’s champion?” she whispered, exhilarated. “Let’s show them Sakura’s strength!”
She blurred into motion, sword humming with vital force.
Lin Qi’s gaze sharpened. He recognized the S-Rank Genius, but it changed nothing.
Puchi—
Her body disintegrated mid-lunge. His spear had pierced her throat before she blinked.
“A waste,” Lin Qi mused. “She’d have made top-tier material.”
...
Back on Sakura’s isle, Aya reappeared, pale and trembling.
“Killed in the first round?!” a classmate snarled. “Who is this Xia martial artist?!”
The white-robed woman frowned. “Could Xia’s geniuses really be this monstrous?”
...
[Second Preliminary Match ends!]
“Five minutes? Already?!” competitors gawked.
Lin Qi materialized on Xia’s Floating Isle to cheers.
“Brother Qi’s back!”
“He’s a demon! Two hundred kills, and even that Sakura ace with Academy Head-level talent died in one strike!”
...
At Ten Institute, Wan Ming sighed. “Putting Brother Qi in prelims is brutal. He’s a shark in a goldfish bowl.”
Xu Wenji nodded grimly. “Revival Matches are our only hope. That many top-tier talents eliminated—it’s tragic, but inevitable.”
...
The Revival Match existed for this exact reason: to rescue geniuses like Aya who’d fallen early. No nation would accept an S-Rank prodigy eliminated in Round One.
