Chapter 317: Vold: Reviving Peter
Chapter 317: Vold: Reviving Peter
Vaid Gre woke up and found himself in a different environment, wondering if he had crossed over again.
However, the wand and quill case by his side reminded him that such a guess was absurd, and he was still Vaid Gre.
But Vaid couldn't remember how he had fallen asleep the night before or why he had casually placed his important quill case by his pillow.
As he rubbed his head and tried to recall, his hazy memories began to resurface, and Vaid slowly remembered Dumbledore's words—
"Is this honey mead from the Three Broomsticks?... Please pour me a glass."
Vaid: "..."
He groaned and covered his face.
Wasn't he just supposed to pour a drink for Dumbledore? He had thought the drink he gave himself was honey-flavored!
At the time, Vaid hadn't thought much of it. After all, in his mind, adults usually wouldn't pour a full glass of alcohol for a minor.
Gradually, he even remembered what he had done afterward... or perhaps he had mixed up his memories with his dreams...
Vaid, feeling hopeful, opened the wardrobe space, and several magical doll pets ran over and followed him closely.
But... the bearded man... was gone.
Looking at the empty cell, Vaid now felt a splitting headache.
The bearded man had no loyalty to their group; he only had hatred for his ruined life.
Vaid had kept this man because he thought he could still be useful, and he had even considered being honest with the headmaster and seeking Dumbledore's help... but he hadn't expected to be exposed like this!
Vaid closed the space, sighed deeply, and lay down on the bed, not even wanting to leave the room.
In one night, Dumbledore could have uncovered all the secrets in the bearded man's mind.
For example... how Vaid's eight-eyed giant spider viciously bit Thickbrow Dar's head.
At this moment, Vaid felt that in Dumbledore's eyes, he was probably as cruel as Voldemort, if not more so.
After all, when Voldemort was thirteen, he was still a good student with excellent conduct, only doing minor mischief like bullying classmates or forming gangs.
It wasn't until his fifth or sixth year that he indirectly caused Myrtle's death and personally killed his uncle.
Vaid sighed deeply, frowned, and played with the quill case in his hand, his thoughts in disarray.
He sat on the bed, thinking that if Dumbledore started to see him as a potential criminal, their harmonious and tacit understanding would disappear... but the headmaster would likely observe first.
Dumbledore seemed to always have the patience to wait and respond when changes occurred in the future.
He had placed the quill case by his pillow instead of dissecting its secrets and uncovering Vaid's every detail.
Based on this, Vaid believed Dumbledore wouldn't turn on him immediately... but he still felt anxious.
When he first enrolled, Vaid didn't believe that Dumbledore was as selfless, kind, and gentle as he appeared in the original story, always viewing the headmaster with a conspiratorial mindset.
But as their relationship became more harmonious... the thought of potential new and irreconcilable conflicts made Vaid feel uncomfortable again.
"Bang!" The bedroom door suddenly opened.
"You're awake, Vaid."
Harry said excitedly, "Come downstairs quickly. The school's booklist is here.
Voldemort heard the sound of Harry's footsteps as he hurriedly descended the stairs after speaking.
Voldemort: Harry came over from the Dursleys early this morning...
That makes sense.
Even though Sirius and Lupin lived next door, the Dursleys wouldn't dare confine Harry or kick him out, but they probably wouldn't be keen on preparing a lavish breakfast for him.
As Voldemort descended the stairs, he heard Harry sitting at the dining table, talking to Lupin:
"Aunt Marge is taking the ten o'clock train this morning. She's staying for a week... I asked Dumbledore, and he said that since I've been living with the Dursleys for over a month, the magic has taken effect, and I can continue staying here for the rest of the time."
There was an old leather suitcase by the living room door, obviously containing Harry's luggage.
"Who is this Aunt Marge?" Sirius asked as he spread butter on his bread. "What did she do to you?"
"She's Uncle Vernon's sister, and she raises a lot of dogs... Just look at Uncle Vernon and Dudley, and you can imagine what kind of person she is."
Harry shuddered as he spoke, "Anyway... I'd rather grow a bone in my arm again than spend even a second with her."
Sirius nodded and said, "I understand."
"Sirius, how's your investigation going?"
Voldemort asked as he entered the dining room.
Sirius shook his head. "Not much progress... They say that vampire called Troka has moved away years ago, and no one has gone to look for him recently except me."
His eyes were still heavy with fatigue, as if he hadn't slept the entire night.
"Sirius, how can your solo investigation compare to the numerous Aurors in the Ministry of Magic?"
Harry tried to persuade him, "I think you need a good rest. I don't know about others, but given Lockhart's personality, he won't be able to hide for long before he starts signing his name on walls."
"Yes, Sirius," Lupin added. "If you don't give yourself some breathing space, I think you might just collapse from exhaustion."
Sirius smiled, his lips curling up, but he said, "On my way back, I was thinking that even if Lockhart or Garland were exposed, we might still have a hard time catching Peter."
"Why?" Harry asked, surprised.
"Escaping together doesn't mean they'll stick together from then on."
Sirius explained, "With Peter's caution, he wouldn't stay with someone like Lockhart for long."
Lupin nodded slightly, not refuting Sirius, clearly agreeing with his point.
Voldemort asked curiously, "Knowing this, why have you been pursuing those two all this time?"
"Because Peter might hide separately and observe the Ministry's pursuit of the three of them from a distance."
Lupin spoke thoughtfully, "In his eyes, those two are just decoys he's placed in the open."
"So finding them is equivalent to finding Peter. It just requires more stealth and caution."
Sirius concluded and took a bite of the grilled meat with a fierce expression.
Voldemort sliced the fried egg as he thought to himself—should he just let Peter Pettigrew 'revive' and then die again in front of Sirius?
Otherwise, Sirius might never be able to let go of this matter for the rest of his life.
Even Harry and Lupin... although they rarely showed it, they would certainly not tolerate Peter remaining 'above the law' forever.
