Chapter 317: Do You Dare to Kill? By Severing the Opponent's Head with a spell!
Chapter 317: Do You Dare to Kill? By Severing the Opponent's Head with a spell!
"Do you only tell me not to attempt to change the past, but to learn to adapt to the flow of history and think carefully about what I have seen?" Hermione spoke up.
Ivan was utterly confused. He understood the meaning of her words, but such vague content offered little help.
"Nothing more specific?" Ivan said, somewhat reluctantly. He believed that if he had the chance to return to the past, he would write a detailed guide to ensure his actions wouldn’t go wrong.
Hermione shook her head, then recalled what Ivan had said to her last time. She stuck out her tongue and said, "Well, he said you probably won’t understand now, so it’s okay not to think about anything."
Not think about anything? Does that mean I have to barge through recklessly?
Ivan was quite helpless. He stared at Hermione, hoping to get some important clues from her, but the young witch looked at him blankly, indicating that was all she knew.
"Don’t try to change the past; adapt to the flow of history." Ivan thought about these two sentences, hesitating for a long time before sighing and saying to Hermione, "Let’s go. Put on the Invisibility Cloak, and we’ll head back!"
Back? Where to? Hermione put on the Invisibility Cloak with confusion, and Ivan also disappeared from his spot.
Then, the two of them wearing the Invisibility Cloak realized a problem—they couldn’t see each other. This wouldn’t do.
Ivan had to adjust and temporarily put away his Invisibility Cloak, deciding to share one with Hermione.
They made their way back to the Dark Magic Shop. This time, Ivan didn’t dare to get too close. Instead, he chose a high spot from where he could clearly see the several small alleys around the Dark Magic Shop, making it easier for him to control the situation.
Since the shop was open, Ivan could also see Aisha’s figure.
"Is she your mother? She’s so beautiful", Hermione whispered, turning to ask. This was her first time meeting Aisha. In the past, at King’s Cross Station, she never had the chance to see Aisha picking up Ivan.
"Yes!" Ivan nodded, but didn’t want to say more.
"Then can you tell me now what you want to do? Is it related to your mother?" Hermione looked at Aisha and asked.
"Didn’t I tell you anything when I asked you to come?" Ivan asked, puzzled.
Hermione shook her head again, indicating she knew nothing.
Ivan hesitated. In fact, he didn’t really want Hermione to be involved, but since the young witch was already here, he had to explain.
"About two hours from now, a group of Dark Wizards will attack the Dark Magic Shop. When I got home, the fight was already over."
Ivan closed his eyes, recalling that scene from three months ago, murmuring to himself, "I only managed to see her lying in a pool of blood."
Hermione looked at Ivan in shock. She naturally understood who Ivan was talking about.
The young witch’s eyes were filled with pity. She suddenly remembered Ivan’s loss of control on the train when facing the Dementor and understood why he was so obsessed with the Time Turner.
Ivan continued to recall the past. He had relived that day’s scene countless times in his dreams.
Sometimes he dreamed of using the Time Turner to go back in time, only to end up like the tragic wizard in Dumbledore’s story, causing Aisha’s death with his own hands.
Or he would get trapped in a recurring cycle of time and space.
Countless scenes, both real and imaginary, intertwined, and Ivan could hardly distinguish what was real and what was not.
Despite using the hair from Aisha's corpse to verify its authenticity, that wasn’t enough assurance. Unless he was willing to open the coffin sealed in the basement and see the body with his own eyes, he couldn’t be certain.
However, Ivan didn’t have the courage to open the coffin and verify it. He was afraid of the worst outcome, and if that happened, everything would be set in stone, making his efforts meaningless.
“I believe you can change everything!”
Hermione's voice reached Ivan's ears.
Ivan opened his eyes. In the small space created by the Invisibility Cloak, the girl’s brown eyes were filled with trust.
Ivan was moved. He could see that Hermione truly believed in him, not just offering empty words of comfort.
“I’ve never seen anything you couldn’t do.” Hermione said with confidence.
Although Dumbledore had told them about the various rules of the Time Turner, one of which was that the past couldn’t be changed, Hermione still had faith in Ivan.
He was so smart, able to easily master advanced magic, thwart the Dark Lord’s plots one after another, improve many Potions, and expose the true identities of two Defense Against the Dark Arts professors, driving them out.
Ivan found himself in a mix of amusement and frustration. There were many things he couldn’t do; he just seemed more capable among the students.
“Is there anything I can help with?” Hermione asked, looking at Ivan expectantly.
“No, I want you to stay out of it. You need to protect yourself!” Ivan’s expression turned serious.
Hermione pursed her lips, and before she could speak, Ivan continued.
“This time, the enemies are a group of Dark Wizards, possibly more than ten! They are extremely dangerous and skilled in lethal black magic. You need to stay here and not get involved. I will handle them!”
“That’s not possible! There are so many of them, you can’t fight them alone!” Hermione’s face was full of worry, her words rapid and panicked. She continued.
“I know a lot of spells, and don’t you forget? We had Duelling Class last semester. I even defeated many older students in the Duelling Arena, so I know how to fight.”
“It’s not enough! Far from enough!” Ivan interrupted Hermione, his eyes locking onto hers, his voice sharp.
“You don’t understand. Real combat isn’t like playing in the Duelling Arena. Defeat means death! Those Dark Wizards will use the cruelest magic on you.”
“Do you know the Cruciatus Curse? Those who are hit by this spell suffer unbearable pain. Imagine having your bones pulled out of your flesh one by one! It’s even more painful than that!”
“And some black magic can corrode your flesh. Once you’re hit, it will seep into your body. Before long, your skin will rot, crack, stink, and ooze pus.” Ivan said, his words deliberate and chilling.
Hermione was frightened by Ivan's words and his intense expression. She trembled, trying to say she wasn’t afraid, but Ivan delivered the final blow first.
“Can you kill someone? I mean, use a spell to slice off their head?”
