Chapter 314: Brother, You Talk Too Much
Chapter 314: Brother, You Talk Too Much
As the meeting concluded, several guild masters greeted Rod with smiles, expressing their gratitude to Fairy Tail and inviting them to visit their guilds whenever they had the time.
Rod politely accepted, knowing that not all of them were major guilds, but many possessed unique and fascinating Life Magic abilities.
For instance, the Chef's Knife guild, whose members had prepared delicious desserts for everyone before their departure.
Rod envisioned visiting these guilds during their future honeymoon, anticipating a delightful experience.
Indeed, he had already begun contemplating the itinerary for their honeymoon.
His current plan was to travel around the Phore Kingdom, and if time permitted, they might even venture to neighboring countries. Of course, the final arrangements would also consider Mira's preferences.
Rod occasionally indulged in daydreams about their wonderful future together.
Due to the delay at the Council Chamber, Rod and Makarov returned to Magnolia as night fell.
The guild had already closed for the day, and both went their separate ways.
Makarov headed straight home, while Rod first stopped by Mira's place to greet her and share a brief moment of intimacy before returning home.
Unfortunately, Elfman was also present, preventing Rod from taking things too far.
Upon arriving home, Rod found the room clean and tidy, with the three 'sons' on the balcony looking vibrant and full of life.
However, on the table lay an open magazine, and the page it was opened to... featured Erza in a black bikini.
Rod's heart skipped a beat. Oh no, he had forgotten to put away the magazine, and now Mira had seen it!
But then he realized something was amiss. He didn't recall buying that particular issue...
Could it be that Gorden secretly brought the magazine here to read, and now felt awkward about taking it back? Or perhaps Mira intentionally brought it, and after tidying up the room, she sat there, reading and waiting for him. Then, out of boredom or to tease him, she left the magazine open to that page and went home?
Mira wouldn't do something so silly... or would she? Perhaps she might have done something so adorable.
Rod quickly closed the magazine, deciding to read it in front of her the next day.
He surveyed his territory and caught a glimpse of a strand of white hair on the bed.
Picking it up, he examined it and confirmed it wasn't Worm's. Rod couldn't help but laugh.
So, you've been secretly sleeping on my bed, huh? Well, if you have the guts, sleep with me.
Rod engaged in a brief workout, then washed up and meditated before preparing for bed.
Before retiring, he summoned Worm and compared their sizes, even testing it out as a makeshift sofa chair.
The soft and comfortable sensation made him realize that in a few more weeks, he might be able to ride it, and perhaps even manage to sleep on it.
Worm, easily bribed with a small cookie, allowed Rod to manipulate it as he pleased. It had given up on its diet, reasoning that it would grow anyway, so it might as well enjoy the extra treats.
...
The next morning, Elfman was in charge of cooking.
Rod and Mira snuggled on the sofa, flipping through the magazine together.
Mira still wore the pink garter nightgown from the previous night, looking cool and refreshing.
And she looked stunning from every angle. Every angle.
Indeed, the magazine had been left on the table by Mira, who claimed she had forgotten to take it with her.
That's what she said, at least.
Mira held Rod's arm with one hand while turning the pages with the other, deliberately slowing down when they reached Erza's portrait page to discreetly observe Rod's reaction.
However, Rod's mind was elsewhere, distracted by the sensation on his arm, and his gaze occasionally wandered to peculiar things.
Rod swore it wasn't intentional.
Mira followed Rod's wandering gaze and glanced down at herself, her face turning crimson.
She hurried upstairs, changed into regular clothes, and returned, silently staring at Rod.
"It looks very nice," Rod commented, assuming she was seeking compliments. "The dress you wore earlier was also quite lovely."
Mira raised a hand, warning, "You better not say another word."
Rod kept his thoughts to himself, secretly amused.
Mira puffed out her cheeks, thinking, How could this guy be so perverted!
But then she reconsidered, If he was flirting with me... Ah, it's so annoying!
Despite her thoughts, when she sat down, she still embraced Rod's arm and leaned against him.
This time, the fabric felt slightly different to the touch.
Rod realized he had changed, as he could sense this instantly.
His focus was a bit off.
He tried to shift his attention, "How's the guild been these days?"
"It's pretty much the same as usual," Mira thought for a moment, then said with a hint of distress, "It's just that everyone seems a little afraid of me sometimes... like they are of Elusa."
Rod smiled, "That's because you're Mira-Jane, the Sorceress."
Mira hugged his arm a little tighter, "Then, do you usually get scared?"
Rod considered this, winking his left eye and modulating his voice, "Isn't it interesting?"
Mira pouted, "Don't imitate me!"
"Oh, I've been scolded. How scary, I'm so frightened," Rod's tone was a bit exaggerated, but without much emotion.
Mira gave him a sidelong glance, wondering if he could remove his hand from her leg when she was scared.
Pervert.
"It's time for dinner..." Elfman hesitated for almost twenty seconds before finally deciding to call out to them.
"You've worked hard," Mira sat down at the table, her face expressionless.
This level of intimacy was nothing unusual for her brother to witness.
"Hmm? The Ironwood incident made it into the newspaper?" Rod noticed the accompanying image on the newspaper before he sat down, showing the Council Chamber's team escorting the Ironwood members.
He didn't have time to read the details before taking the cutlery Mira handed him.
"It's because it was a terrorist attack, and the targets were the guild masters, so it quickly became a national sensation," Mira explained.
The nation was shocked by Ironwood's dangerous and cruel plan, and Fairy Tail's success in stopping it greatly boosted their reputation.
As for the damaged station and railway, it seemed insignificant compared to their achievement in resolving the terrorist incident.
"You guys are so... manly!" Elfman exclaimed with a mix of excitement and envy, "To be able to participate in such a major event."
"Most of it was done by Elusa and the others," Mira smiled, accustomed to her brother's unique way of complimenting.
However, since Elfman liked the term 'manly' so much, she decided to show him just how 'manly' she was during their next training session.
Elfman, unaware, asked, "Didn't Natsu say he defeated Algol yesterday? How did he escape?"
"He escaped before the Council Chamber's team arrived. That person can use Wind Magic to fly, and if he's determined to flee, it's troublesome," Mira explained.
Rod furrowed his brows, thinking it wasn't a good habit to leave enemies defeated but not captured.
However, they were in a hurry to pursue Kagaama, so it was understandable that they didn't have time to capture him.
"A top-tier Mage from Ironwood, skilled in assassination missions, is now at large and holds a grudge against our guild..." Rod sighed, "It feels like it'll be troublesome."
"The Council Chamber will intensify their search, and today they might issue a bounty hunt to all major guilds," Mira said.
Bounty hunts were a special type of request that didn't require the standard raid procedures; Mages could take action upon sighting Algol.
This was a rare permission for Mages to legally ignore the Non-Aggression Treaty, and only extremely dangerous individuals were treated this way.
Of course, one could also follow the standard process of accepting the mission, capturing the target, and completing the mission to receive the full bounty.
Alternatively, one could report reliable intelligence to the Council Chamber and leave the capture to them.
Doing so would only yield a small intelligence fee, not the full bounty.
The fee would be around five to twenty percent of the total bounty, depending on the value of the information.
A dangerous individual like Algol would likely have a substantial bounty.
"Why don't we take on this mission?" Rod suggested, "We'll search the entire Phore Kingdom; we're bound to find him."
If they couldn't find him, they'd expand their search internationally.
Elfman couldn't help but ask, "Are you going to find someone or go on a trip?"
Rod glanced at him, thinking, 'Brother, you talk too much.'
