Chapter 314: Ascending Tower Chronicles (Fourteen)
Chapter 314 Ascending Tower Chronicles (Fourteen)
The three teammates glanced at Feng Bu Jue before following his gaze upward.
Amidst an eerie, intensifying whistling sound, a speck of crimson red and a streak of gleaming silver abruptly erupted on the Ceiling’s painting. These two colors expanded at an alarming speed…
Seconds later, two figures burst through the Ceiling like meteors crashing down, plummeting toward the swamp.
Boom—
The impact unleashed a massive “mud wave,” engulfing the entire sixth floor.
With limited footing and no place to hide, players dozens of meters from the crash site could only brace themselves, standing rooted to avoid falling into the swamp.
After getting splattered by mud, Feng Bu Jue wiped his face. The next moment, he witnessed a jaw-dropping sight.
At the epicenter of the impact floated a figure.
Her hood and shoulder cloak were as blood-red as the dawn. Beneath them, she wore a tight linen outfit, a leather shoulder strap crossing her chest, a python-skin utility belt at her waist, and knee-high deerskin boots.
Complementing this outfit were short swords, maces, and daggers gleaming with cold menace…
Little Red Riding Hood hovered midair, her expression icy.
Appearing twelve or thirteen, her pale complexion contrasted sharply with the invisible force radiating from her body. This power formed a perfect spherical field, causing the quagmire below to curve into a half-circle depression.
By all rights, her appearance alone should’ve made Hong Hu’s eyes pop and Feng Bu Jue, Ji Chang, and Qiu Feng drop their jaws in shock.
But there was more…
Right now, Little Red Riding Hood was casually lifting Iron Man’s mangled body with one arm.
Iron Man’s limbs had been severed, his head half-shorn, his metallic frame pockmarked with countless dents and cracks.
On the swamp’s surface near the impact zone, fragments of his armor slowly sank. Feng Bu Jue even spotted what looked like an axe handle, a metal hand, and a tank tread-like scrap before they vanished into the quagmire thirty seconds later.
“Hey there, young miss…” Feng Bu Jue tried to speak.
“Who’re you calling ‘miss,’ trash?” Little Red Riding Hood spat, her tone laced with tenfold arrogance, as if Feng Bu Jue had begged for a scolding.
As she spoke, she casually swung her slender arm, hurling Iron Man’s heavy frame aside.
In a flash, her short sword leapt from its sheath. A glint of cold light flashed—before players could even process what happened, Iron Man’s torso had sunk into the quagmire, and Little Red Riding Hood’s blade now pierced a dripping heart.
“Daring to address me directly?” Her voice dripped with menace as she descended slowly, murder in her eyes. “Seeking death?”
“Mercy, great king!” Feng Bu Jue immediately dropped to his knees, hands raised in a kowtow.
“A cheap display of submission…” Qiu Feng muttered.
Ji Chang added, “Indeed… a man surrendering so easily to force…”
Hong Hu finished, “Pathetic.”
Little Red Riding Hood stared at Feng Bu Jue’s bowed head for a few seconds before snorting coldly. Her gaze lifted, sweeping over the other three. “Daring to look down on me with such arrogance…”
Pfump! Pfump! Pfump!
Three more men hit their knees.
“Apologies…”
“Spare us!”
“Have mercy…”
Feng Bu Jue whispered to his teammates, “Now you know how low you’ve sunk?”
“This is called ‘the wise avoid immediate peril,’” Qiu Feng retorted.
Ji Chang grimaced, muttering, “Actually, arguing’s pointless. Since Feng Bu Jue’s words weren’t censored by the system, it means even the system thinks we’re… well, you know.”
“Whispering behind my back?” Little Red Riding Hood advanced step by step, her killing intent undiminished.
“Never!” Feng Bu Jue replied. “We’re reflecting deeply.”
“Hmph…” Her tone dripped with disdain. “Reflecting on what? A pack of ignorant trash.” She seemed to harbor a nameless fury. “You actually thought that werewolf was my pet?”
Hong Hu blurted, “How did you know…”
“I know everything about this place,” she interrupted. “That werewolf lies constantly, cunning and sly. And you…” She stomped on Feng Bu Jue’s head. “Especially you, trash. What did you say to him?” Her voice turned venomous. “He’s now devouring Don Quixote’s corpse. After finishing it, he’ll head to Jack’s home…”
“What!” Feng Bu Jue’s shock was palpable.
“Every creature here grows stronger by killing or consuming others. Slaughter grants them new abilities, making them more vicious and bloodthirsty.” She raised her blade, hurling the heart into the swamp. “After killing the witch and the lion, Iron Man gained immense power. Severing Don Quixote’s head granted him a qualitative leap, sprouting iron wings.” Her expression darkened. “At that point, Iron Man dared challenge the ‘Boss.’ He flew into the fifth layer, then the sixth… forcing me to intervene and annihilate him.”
She removed her foot from Feng Bu Jue’s head, yanking him up by the collar. However, since she stood barely over five feet tall, Feng Bu Jue’s feet never left the ground.
“Unbelievable—while I was away, you fools created new trouble,” she sneered. “I placed that werewolf as a guard dog at the fifth layer’s entrance, to devour monsters attempting to reach the fifth floor.” Her eyes swept over the other three players. “Since you’re the Boss’s guests, he dared not harm you, hence letting you pass. Hmph… but you still spoke needlessly.”
“Originally, after finishing here, I’d just return to kill Beanstalk. Now… I must personally hunt down a monster—this particularly cunning one.” As she spoke, she flung Feng Bu Jue backward in a fit of rage.
Feng Bu Jue was hurled by immense force toward distant stone steps embedded in the wall. He knew a direct collision could kill him. Yet a cultivator of Soul Intent had ways to turn fate.
Twisting midair, he executed a bizarre maneuver—arms spread to cushion, feet pressing empty air to dissipate force. He rapidly descended, skimming the quagmire’s surface to bleed off momentum before finally colliding with the stone steps.
Still, Little Red Riding Hood’s strength was monstrous. Despite Feng Bu Jue’s best efforts, he lost 42% of his vitality value.
