Chapter 313: This is... My Room!!!
Chapter 313: This is... My Room!!!
Although they said they were leaving tonight, there was no real rush.
Mila first brought Rod to his room, helped him take off his shoes, hesitated, and decided not to undress him, instead covering him with a thin blanket.
Before leaving, she sat by the bed, staring at Rod's face for a long while, then gently kissed his lips before closing the door behind her.
Mila had no intention of taking Rod back.
She guessed that Rod had been on high alert these past few days, constantly on the move and helping the Guild Master organize various materials, likely without a proper night's rest.
So, she decided to let him have a good rest using sleep magic.
And if he woke up and realized he'd been tricked, he might take advantage of the situation to cause trouble.
It was best to hide for a while and let him cool down.
...
"Guild Master, not a drop of alcohol until Rod wakes up," Mila firmly instructed the Guild Master before getting into the carriage, her words almost sounding like a threat, "Or else..."
"I understand. I'll bring him back safe and sound," Makarov sighed, looking up at the sky.
This Guild Master had no authority at all. He was constantly getting patted on the head by Natsu, headbutted by Erza, and now, coerced by Mila.
What a pitiful sight.
Jenny also came to see Mila off, "We'll have another match in the future, and I'll definitely win next time!"
"Yeah, good luck!" Mila smiled, "Actually, I've been less involved in modeling lately. Why don't you challenge Erza instead?"
"Oh? You want a match? I'll give it my all!" Erza recalled her impressive performance last time, which had received positive feedback from readers.
But she couldn't understand why she hadn't received another invitation from the magazine.
Was the magazine delaying the next match to keep readers excited?
"Your attitude is so infuriating."
"Then I look forward to your next work," Mila smiled, "I'll watch it with my boyfriend."
"..." Jenny felt even more frustrated.
Rod and Mila were both excellent conversationalists.
"See you at the guild, Guild Master!"
After bidding farewell to Makarov, they boarded the magic quad bike that Kagaama had commandeered.
Natsu was reluctant, "I wanted to ride Rod's big crab."
Mila smiled, "He's resting. Let's not disturb him, okay?"
Erza's face turned stern, "Hurry up. Don't waste time."
Under the dual pressure of their gazes, Natsu quickly backed down.
Gray, sitting in the vehicle, couldn't help but feel a bit of schadenfreude, "You should've done this earlier, Flame Brain."
"You think... waa..."
As soon as the vehicle started moving, Natsu lost the energy to argue with Gray.
Gray laughed and patted Natsu's head, "What was I thinking? Why didn't I say it out loud?"
Natsu covered his mouth, mumbling incoherently, "You just wait..."
Unfortunately, Lucy and Happy were still asleep, or Gray would have had even more fun.
Mila, Erza, and Gray took turns providing magic power to the magic quad bike, driving along the railway tracks all the way back to Magnolia.
The speed of the bike far surpassed that of a train.
Although a large section of the railway in Croba Canyon had been destroyed, the bridge was still intact, allowing them to pass through with some difficulty.
It was still before midnight when they returned, leaving plenty of time for a quick wash and a good night's sleep.
The morning in Magnolia arrived with Lucy's scream:
"This is... my room! Why are you all here? And how did I get back?!"
"Yo, Lucy."
"Yo... who are you calling a ghost?!"
...
Around the same time, Rod woke up naturally after a good night's sleep.
It was only during breakfast that he learned from the Guild Master that everyone had already returned.
He truly let his guard down around Mila. Otherwise, even if she had targeted him, he could have stopped her before falling asleep.
Rod touched his face, feeling as though someone had done something to him while he slept. He needed to find a way to retaliate.
Despite the unexpected incident yesterday, the regular meeting concluded as usual. However, at noon, a team from the Council Chamber arrived to investigate.
The Guild Masters' expressions were grim, and they were visibly agitated when questioned.
Rod could only endure the Council members' presence. After all, this incident was ultimately due to the Council's negligence.
Their oversight had nearly led to the Ironwood members being cursed by the people of Ironwood.
If such a tragedy had occurred, the Council would not have been able to withstand the pressure. The Council member in charge of this area would have faced minor consequences, such as resigning in disgrace, or more severe punishment, like imprisonment.
The situation was so severe that it could have even cost them their lives.
In this case, the Council owed Fairy Tail a favor. However, they would likely not acknowledge it.
Rod, following the 'Guild Master's intention,' helped smooth things over, and after receiving a response that they would 'conduct a serious investigation,' everyone reluctantly moved on.
Then, Makarov signaled Rod to report the details of the incident on his behalf.
What Elusa had shared with the Guild Master before her departure was now relayed by Rod.
When describing such events, it was inevitable that personal biases would come into play.
For instance, the panic and damage caused at Onibus Station were attributed to Jelv's use of the entire station's passengers as hostages, and Elusa chose the most efficient method to evacuate the crowd.
Similarly, the destruction of the railway during the fight was solely to thwart Jelv's plot and prevent further devastation.
While Elusa's initial account focused on the facts, Rod's report emphasized subjective intentions and the final outcome.
Their primary concern was the safety of ordinary citizens, and they had successfully achieved this.
Kagaama showed no reaction to this. He believed that Fairy Tail genuinely held such intentions, and when he went in for questioning, he might even speak in their favor.
Kagaama was probably a slightly clever person; he was just an accomplice in this incident and had decided to turn over a new leaf. Once he atoned for his crimes and was released, he should be able to lead a decent life.
After Rod's report, he added, "If we hadn't learned that Ironwood had obtained Lullaby, and the situation wasn't urgent, we would have followed the rules and reported first before taking action."
Whether they could have done both was uncertain, but their attitude was clear.
The Council members were already feeling ashamed, and with so many Guild Masters present, they couldn't shirk their responsibility.
In the end, they merely expressed gratitude for the cooperation and mentioned that they might send someone to Fairy Tail to gather detailed information from Elusa and the others.
As for the repair costs of Onibus Station and the Croba Canyon railway bridge, they assured Fairy Tail that they need not worry about it.
When the Council members left with Kagaama and Lullaby, Makarov wanted to kiss Rod. To cause such damage and not have to pay compensation was nothing short of a miracle.
Moreover, if the regular meeting venue had been destroyed, the situation might have been entirely different.
Fortunately, Rod was there, and after returning, he might not even need to write a self-reflection letter, which was fantastic.
