Chapter 311: My Wife, the Three-Eyed Skull
Chapter 311: My Wife, the Three-Eyed Skull
La-La-Bai screamed within the massive oven, banging its head against the wall several times before collapsing, unable to get up.
The surrounding monsters vanished one by one, and Rod released his Reception Magic, sitting on the ground, gasping for breath.
Mira flew over and landed, returning to her usual appearance.
Rod didn't say much; he merely extended his hand towards her.
Mira could tell he was exhausted, so instead of acknowledging his hand, she went behind him and embraced him.
With this, Rod didn't feel the urgency to stand up; he enjoyed the softness and decided a brief rest wouldn't hurt.
"Ahahahaha..." Natsu laughed heartily at his attack, but Gray punched him on the head.
Natsu immediately turned to him with a furious gaze. "That hurt! You want to fight?"
"Huh? So, there's this kind of flame, and hitting you can be painful?" Gray observed the red glow around him with curiosity.
He had felt something different when striking La-La-Bai earlier, and now, punching Natsu confirmed it.
Before Natsu could respond, Gray sternly scolded, "And you have the nerve to laugh here! If it weren't for Rod, you would have destroyed the entire guild hall during the regular meeting!"
"..." Natsu paused for a second, then clenched his right fist and struck his left palm. "So that's how it is! When did that guy learn such powerful Earth Magic? Next time, I'll definitely smash it along with him!"
"This idiot..." Gray covered his forehead, feeling like he was talking to a brick wall.
"Speaking of Rod's magic, it feels so familiar—the punches, the roars, and all that..." Natsu recalled Rod's posture, resembling a miniature dragon. "Gray, was Rod using Dragon Annihilation Magic?"
Gray didn't bother to respond, "Who are you asking? Are you a Dragon Slayer?"
Natsu remembered the Mountain Wyvern Rod had shown him a few days ago, and it seemed plausible that Rod knew Dragon Slayer Magic.
"Mountain Dragon Slayer Magic?"
With a new 'fellow' in the guild, Natsu smiled, thinking he should spar with Rod more often.
Erza had already changed back into her usual armor. "Let's put the chit-chat aside for now and go check on La-La-Bai."
The group entered through the opening Rod had created.
La-La-Bai's massive body transformed into smoke under their gaze, reverting to its original form as the three-eyed skull flute.
However, the skull's front, side, and back were marred with scars, and it seemed to be missing a few teeth. The flute itself was covered in cracks.
This broken flute would likely whistle air from all sides if anyone attempted to play it.
Natsu picked up the flute and shook it casually. "What should we do with this? Burn it?"
"Don't be reckless," Gray advised. "Shouldn't we hand over such a dangerous item to the Council Chamber?"
Erza nodded. "According to the rules, that's what we should do. But with the Guild Master here, let's leave the decision to him."
"I don't think we should hand it over to the Council Chamber, at least not directly," Rod and Mira approached together.
Pleasure Town was enjoyable, but Rod still had important matters on his mind.
Based on the opinions shared during the regular meeting, there was a high likelihood of an insider within the Council Chamber.
The fact that this flute, which should have been sealed by the Council, had ended up here was likely due to negligence by the guards.
The more significant possibility was that an insider had orchestrated this, either to test the power of the demons in Jellv's Tome or to divert attention to the Demon Heart.
If they returned it directly, it might be repaired and released again one day, which would be troublesome.
Natsu ignited a flame in his hand. "It's best to burn it directly!"
"No," Rod stopped him. "You all caused panic at Onibus Station, destroyed the railway bridge in Kroba Canyon, and took on a raid mission against a dark guild without permission..."
With each point Rod made, the flame in Natsu's hand weakened, and even Erza and Gray couldn't help but feel a bit guilty, their eyes drifting elsewhere unconsciously.

"Without this flute as evidence, who knows what trouble you might be in. The Council might take this opportunity to make an example of you to save face." Rod thought for a moment, his mind wandering to sinister speculations.
"If the Council feels embarrassed by this incident, they might indeed play it safe and use you as a scapegoat to assert their authority."
In truth, his greater concern was the potential for an inside traitor to take advantage of the situation and cause trouble for Fairy Tail.
Currently, Rod's suspicions fell upon the two Council members who had shown disdain for Fairy Tail.
Why would they target our guild so persistently when we're such a great guild? Although some of our members frequently cause trouble, like walking around naked, stealing underwear from clotheslines, charging their drinking tabs to the Council, and flirting with the Council's granddaughter...
But we...
"..." Rod suddenly felt that his guild deserved some of the blame.
"If we want to prevent its resurrection and preserve evidence, it's a delicate balance," Mira said, extending her hand towards Natsu, "Leave it to me."
Natsu, having just been scolded, obediently handed the flute to Mira.
"Speaking of which, this is also a kind of demon... You're not planning to absorb it, are you?" Erza guessed, "But if you do, won't it disappear like the others?"
"No, absorbing a demon is different. I can absorb just a portion of its power," Mira said confidently, holding the flute in her hand, "Taking away its most dangerous ability will minimize the impact on its main body and prevent it from using dangerous Curse Magic."
Lullaby trembled slightly, wondering how someone could possibly absorb a demon.
I want it, even if it means losing my life!
At worst, being taken back would only result in a seal, leaving a chance for freedom in the future. But if it's absorbed...
Lullaby tried to struggle, but the recent battle had left it nearly powerless.
Smoke emerged from the three-eyed skull as it attempted to reveal its true form once more.
However, the glow of magic in Mira's hand enveloped it, causing the smoke to dissipate, and the purple-black eyes on the skull's head lost their luster.
"Absorb - Demon Puppet La-La-Bai!"
A flash of light enveloped Mira, and her appearance transformed completely:
She now wore a brown coarse cloth skirt, with intricate blue-purple patterns on her shoulders and simple rope decorations around her wrists.
Barefoot, she stood on the ground, her face partially covered by a wooden mask of a three-eyed demon, resembling a princess from a primitive tribe.
Mira spun in place, causing her skirt and the cloth belt around her waist to flutter. Her legs also seemed to bear patterns similar to those on her shoulders.
She pushed the mask upwards, exposing her forehead and revealing a pretty face not too different from her usual appearance. She winked at her companions, especially Rod, and asked, "How do I look?"
"You look beautiful," Rod complimented, then added, "But I'm not sure if this is Absorption Magic or Transformation Magic."
"It's definitely Absorption Magic. Don't be scared," Mira reassured Rod, then pushed the mask further up to the top of her head.
On her forehead, an extra eye appeared! Its position seemed to correspond with the third eye on the three-eyed demon mask.
Has my wife turned into Brin from the One Piece set? Others might find it eerie, but Rod thought it looked amazing.
Mira was pleased with Rod's reaction, wondering if he truly liked her or if his taste was just peculiar.
Erza admired Mira's new outfit, finding the combination appealing, and then inquired about the magic's effectiveness, "Did it work?"
