Chapter 311: Business Decision
Chapter 311: Business Decision
There were bookstores in the commercial district, but the prices were steep.
After leaving Arland's home, Lindsey, an avid book lover, began pondering a question.
Should he buy some leisure books for himself? It would be nice to have something to pass the time during the upcoming journey.
But soon, Lindsey suppressed his urge.
The plan to buy books was fine, but it would be better to wait until after treating his injuries or, more precisely, after successfully purchasing the Phoenix Grass, and only if there was extra money left. For now, it was best to endure the temptation.
With the materials in hand, Lindsey returned home.
As he approached the street corner, he noticed a man with a bag slung over his shoulder standing at his doorstep, rhythmically knocking on the door.
The man wore a hat with a green feather sticking out of it, a common style among messengers.
Lindsey approached the man, who immediately reacted,
"Mr. Lindsey?"
Lindsey nodded in acknowledgment,
"Yes, that's me."
The messenger nodded and took out a purple cloth bag from his waist. He also placed a receipt on top of it.
"Sir, please sign here," he said, "The fee is just one silver coin."
Lindsey discreetly glanced at the map.
The messenger's skill symbolized neutrality, indicating no hostility towards him.
Lindsey then took the parcel, and as he signed his name, he asked,
"What is this that's been sent to me?"
The purple silk cloth was not thick.
Through the fabric, he could feel a hard box inside, weighing almost two pounds in total.
The messenger didn't answer right away.
After seeing Lindsey sign the receipt, he took it back and lightly ran his finger over it.
For a moment, a faint essence flowed through the messenger's hand.
He seemed to be verifying something and then nodded in satisfaction. He turned to Lindsey and replied,
"Sorry, Mr. Lindsey."
"I was hired for an anonymous delivery, cash on delivery. I don't have any further information."
The delivery was complete, and so was the messenger's response.
But instead of leaving, the messenger stood in place and asked,
"I can wait for you at the door for a while. If you need anything, you can also give me the items you want to send."
Although the item sent to Lindsey was anonymous, the messenger's experience told him that these deliveries sometimes carried additional information. Perhaps the man in front of him would want to send something back, and he didn't mind waiting a bit longer.
Lindsey nodded and turned to open the door,
"Please wait a moment."
Before entering, he turned back to the messenger and invited him,
"Would you like to come in for a moment?"
The messenger politely declined with a shake of his head,
"No need, sir. I'll just wait outside."
Lindsey went back inside.
He untied the parcel, and inside was a brand-new apricot wood box wrapped in purple silk cloth, secured with a simple lock. Lindsey flicked it open with his finger, revealing a dazzling array of gold coins within.
The box was filled with gold coins, at least several hundred at first glance. On top lay a thin note.
[Lindsey, this is the first week's earnings.
I probably won't have time to meet you in person, so I sent it over. As for the new batch of goods, just leave them where you found them; I know you can handle it.
—Your beloved Rowboat Man.]
"..."
"Heh, Rowboat Man. Is this an invitation to infiltrate your residence?"
Lindsey chuckled and shook his head.
He picked up a gold coin, one of the merchant coins given by Elaine. Each coin weighed approximately 4.5 grams.
Ordinary coins were slightly lighter, around 4 grams.
He then stored the coin in his bag.
Lindsey witnessed the number of merchant coins in his possession jump from 4 to 174!
"..."
"The first week's earnings already fulfilled more than half of the demand, much faster than I anticipated."
A smile curled Lindsey's lips.
He was about to turn back and inform the messenger that he didn't need to send anything. But as he took a step, the data on the 【Game Player】 panel updated.
【Business Simulation Level: 3→4】
【Business Simulation Skill: Business Decision-Making】
【Business Decision:
With each level up in Business Simulation Skill, you can choose a business decision to enhance the player's business capabilities.
Note: We will provide you with decisions each time you level up, but you can only choose one!】
Lindsey immediately realized the benefits of their collaborative transaction.
He and Elaine successfully introduced a new product, undoubtedly satisfying the requirements of the 【Business Simulation】 once again!
Essence quietly slipped away, and three options appeared before Lindsey—
【Bank Interest】
Shop funds automatically increase by 5% at the end of each month.
【Rare Goods】
There is a certain probability that the goods cultivated in the player's shop will mutate, producing unstable variations.
【Publicity Boost】
The shop will more easily attract the attention of others, increasing customer traffic.
"Hmm..."
Lindsey stroked his chin, facing the classic 3-choice-1 scenario in the game.
Between 【Bank Interest】 and 【Rare Goods】, Lindsey quickly made his decision.
He resisted the temptation of money.
Lindsey's view on money was that having enough was sufficient; chasing it relentlessly would only lead to becoming a true merchant.
Moreover, with the Golden Law in his possession.
His choice naturally fell on the latter...
"Lindsey?"
At this moment, the messenger suddenly poked his head into the room and pointed outside.
"Sorry, it's raining out there."
"If you don't need the delivery service, I'll take my leave."
"Oh, sorry!" Lindsey quickly apologized, "I don't have anything to send, I've wasted your time."
"It's fine."
The messenger politely greeted him.
He stepped out of the room and helped Lindsey close the door before his figure hurriedly disappeared into the distance.
Lindsey was about to walk over to tidy up when his gaze passed through the window, seeing the overcast sky outside and the hurried passersby on the street.
"The weather was still good when I went out this morning."
"It's only halfway through the afternoon, and this rain seems to be getting heavier."
Lindsey shook his head.
He and Elaine had experienced a few rainfalls on their way to Nine Bays City.
Looking at the current weather.
The Forest Courtyard had likely entered the rainy season, which was definitely not good news for Lindsey, who was preparing to set out on a journey.
With this in mind, Lindsey chose the 【Rare Goods】 decision.
In an instant, his essence was drawn out.
The accompanying wave of craftsmanship covered the entire shop, as if refreshing the entire building.
But just a few seconds later.
This transformation completely vanished without a trace, and there were no visible changes in the shop to the naked eye.
"Hmm..."
Lindsey pursed his lips and returned to the backyard.
He habitually ran to the fishing platform, but looking at the rushing river in front of him and the increasingly dense splashes on the surface.
A thought that had crossed his mind when he first arrived.
Kept popping up.
If this rain gets heavier, will it really cause a flood?
