Chapter 311: Ah, It’s a Heart Flutter! (Second Update)
Inside Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.
The Hogwarts Express slowly pulled out with a whistle, as a group of witch parents waved goodbye.
Every new year, a batch of witches would graduate and enter the witching world, while a new group of eleven-year-old young wizards, filled with anticipation and excitement, would board the magical train bound for the mysterious Hogwarts.
“I need to talk to you guys alone!”
Shortly after boarding, Harry lowered his head and said to Jerry and the others.
Ron, upon hearing this, immediately understood and said to Ginny, who was trying to stay with them in the same compartment:
“Ginny, go sit with your second-year classmates!”
“Alright, no problem!”
Ginny kicked Ron's shin and left with a puffed-up face.
She had originally wanted to sit with her idol and enjoy the journey to school, but her plans were ruined by her brother.
“Hurt your wife once, and you'll be chasing her to the funeral parlor!”
Jerry shook his head as he watched.
Ginny was a lively and outgoing girl, but in front of Harry, she would become a shy and quiet little girl. So Harry had never paid much attention to her.
Later, when Harry and Chang Qiu started dating, Ginny's years of unrequited love came to nothing. Encouraged by her best friend Hermione, she managed to move on and started dating Dean.
Then, when Harry and Chang Qiu broke up, Harry began to find Ginny, who had become increasingly beautiful and confident, more and more attractive. By then, Ginny, a seasoned flirt, made him wait a whole year before agreeing to be with him.
Jerry believed that if Harry were to show a bit more interest in Ginny now, given her deep infatuation and long-term crush, she would agree to be with him in a heartbeat.
Thinking about this, he looked down at Hermione, who was walking closely beside him, and scratched his head.
“Bystanders see clearly, but the parties involved are often confused!”
As a bystander, he could analyze Harry and Ginny's relationship clearly, but when it came to his own situation, he was at a loss.
Since he had started to sense Hermione's feelings for him, he had been quite conflicted.
To be honest, he had never expected this outcome. In his memory, Hermione and Ron were the ones who ended up together in the movies.
Moreover, he had planned to wait until he was strong enough, at least as strong as Odin and the Ancient One, before considering any romantic relationships.
However, for some reason, he had a nagging feeling that if he rejected Hermione's advances now, he might end up like Harry, who had to chase after his wife to the funeral parlor.
“Too young, too young, let’s talk about it later!”
After some thought, Jerry decided that he shouldn’t consider these things now. Hermione was only just fourteen, and he would think about it once she was older.
In fact, Jerry had a unique perspective on relationships. He always believed that love at first sight was unreliable because, at its core, it was based on physical attraction, or more bluntly, "seeing beauty and acting on it."
In reality, one's values, experiences, and habits were far more important, and these were things he didn’t know about a person just by looking at them.
While appearance was important, it wasn’t the most crucial factor. Over time, even the most beautiful face would become ordinary, and people would age.
So Jerry believed that his ideal relationship would involve spending time with someone, not feeling an immediate spark, but gradually falling in love as he got to know their values, interests, and habits.
However, this was a difficult path to take.
The only people one could spend that much time with were usually classmates, colleagues, or neighbors.
Among these, classmates hadn't been in touch for a long time, and there weren't many eligible women among his colleagues. Many of them already had boyfriends or were married. As for neighbors, well, he had watched too many romantic TV shows.
In reality, the neighbors who could get close and chat for a bit were mostly elderly men and women. Young, single neighbors who would talk to you without a boyfriend only existed in TV shows.
This was also the reason why he never got married in his previous life—his overly unique views on relationships had gotten the best of him.
But in this life, after careful consideration, he realized that there were very few who truly matched his views on relationships.
Most of his time in this life was spent studying and researching Magic, and he hadn't really spent much time with many girls.
If he had to think of a girl he had spent a lot of time with, it would be Hermione. Apart from classes, they spent most of their time together in the library, studying and discussing Magic.
Well, there was also his sister Aisha from the Main World, but she was his sister. Though they weren't related by blood, they had grown up together, and there was no way he could feel anything special for her.
"There's no one here, let's sit here!"
As they approached the last train car, Hermione spotted an empty compartment and immediately pulled Jerry inside.
Harry and Ron followed closely behind.
Once inside the compartment, Hermione sat down on the right side. Jerry instinctively wanted to sit on the left, but Harry and Ron exchanged a glance and quickly took the left seats.
The saying "bystanders see what the participants miss" applied to Harry and Ron, the two straight guys, as well.
After these past two days, how could they not notice the subtle and mysterious relationship between Hermione and Jerry? As friends, they were more than willing to give them a little push.
Seeing this, Jerry cleared his throat and casually sat down next to Hermione.
With his enhanced senses and physical abilities, if he really wanted to sit on the left, he could have easily prevented Harry and Ron from taking those seats.
"Harry, you seemed like you had something to say to us just now?"
Jerry put on a calm face and looked at Harry.
Harry got up and closed the compartment door, then explained to Jerry, Hermione, and Ron in a mysterious tone:
"Actually, the Death Eater Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban to kill me, last night."
Harry then recounted the conversation he had overheard between the Weasley couple the previous night.
Hearing that the notorious Sirius Black had escaped just to kill Harry, Ron and Hermione were both shocked and began to voice their concerns.
With that, the slightly strange atmosphere dissipated, and everyone returned to a normal state. Jerry breathed a sigh of relief and occasionally chimed in, joining the discussion.
As they chatted, the conversation turned to the fact that third-year students could finally visit Hogsmeade Village on weekends. It was the only village in Britain entirely populated by witches and had many stores run by witches.
However, during the conversation, Harry looked worried and mentioned that because he had inflated his aunt, the Dursleys hadn't signed his permission slip, so he might not be able to go.
As they continued chatting, perhaps due to fatigue or some other reason, Hermione's body, which had been leaning against the seat, started to tilt towards Jerry.
When their shoulders touched, both of them froze.
Jerry suddenly felt his heart beat faster:
"Damn, it's the feeling of falling in love!"
