Chapter 31: The Verdant Prairie Dungeon
Chapter 31: The Verdant Prairie Dungeon
Su Yu was no stranger to this dungeon.
In his previous life, as a member of the Mu Yun Guild, he had helped many low-level players clear this dungeon countless times. This was partly to meet the company's performance targets and partly to boost the overall strength of humanity.
He had visited the Verdant Prairie dungeon at least twenty times, and he could easily navigate to the Sheep Village and find the Village Chief with his eyes closed. Of course, that was only possible after clearing the monsters along the way.
For example, right now.
As he followed the mountain path, four goats grazing in the grass suddenly turned to look at him, their eyes bloodshot.
Raging Goat (Level 5)
- Health: 300
- Attack: 25
- Skills:
- Frenzied Charge: Charges at the target position and increases the damage of the next attack by 50%. Cooldown: 15 seconds.
- Herd Gathering (Passive): For every companion within 40 meters, damage is increased by 10%.
The enemies in this dungeon were all "Elite" versions, with three times the health of regular monsters outside. These goats were no pushovers. A single attack from a goat could deal 10-13 points of damage to a tank or guardian knight of the same level. If all four attacked at once, combined with the passive effect of Herd Gathering and the damage boost from Frenzied Charge, a tank might struggle to survive.
In the early stages of the game, these goats had earned the nickname "Newbie Tank Killers."
Upon seeing Su Yu, the four goats bleated angrily and charged at him. Their aggressive stance made them look more like a pack of bloodthirsty wolves than docile goats.
Su Yu waited until the goats were just a few meters away before activating the Frost Nova scroll.
A massive ring of ice exploded outward from Su Yu, rapidly spreading to the feet of the four goats.

The damage from Frost Nova was low, but its control effect was exceptional. The goats were frozen in place, unable to move.
Su Yu wanted to test the scrolls first, so he didn't use Chain Lightning. Instead, he activated a Rain of Fire scroll.
Flames roared out from the scroll, coalescing into a fiery red cloud above the goats, resembling molten rock. Large fire meteors rained down from the cloud, striking the goats.

Rain of Fire dealt multi-hit damage, with a fire meteor landing on a goat every second, dealing around 40 points of damage each.
The goats wailed in pain, but their legs were still trapped in ice, leaving them unable to move and forced to endure the onslaught.
After three seconds, the freezing effect of Frost Nova wore off. Control effects like Freeze diminished in strength when used multiple times on the same target. For example, the first Frost Nova could freeze the goats for three seconds, the second for only 1.5 seconds, and a third would have almost no effect.
After the three-second "ice and fire" ordeal, each goat had lost around 170 health points, dropping their health below half.
Once free, the goats charged at Su Yu again, their eyes red with rage. However, they no longer posed any threat. Su Yu casually cast Chain Lightning.

The goats' health was depleted, and they collapsed, emitting a tempting aroma.
Su Yu approached and checked the drops from the four goats. The familiar smell of roasted mutton made him realize he was hungry. However, he hadn't learned the Cooking secondary profession, so he sighed, collected the materials and equipment dropped by the goats, and continued down the mountain path.
In the Green Fields dungeon, besides the Frenzied Goat, there are also the Arrogant Goat (with the skill "Arrogant Gaze," which reduces the target's damage), the Mad Goat (with the skill "Leap Attack"), and the Corrupted Goat (whose attacks deal significant shadow damage).
Under Su Yu's high-damage output, all the goats were equal, and none could withstand his overwhelming attacks.
After clearing two waves of goat minions, he encountered the first boss of the dungeon—the Boiling Goat Chieftain.
Boiling Goat Chieftain (Level 6)
- Health: 1100
- Attack Power: 44
The Boiling Goat Chieftain can be considered an upgraded version of the Frenzied Goat. It possesses the passive skills Herd Gather and Rage Charge, as well as the active skills Herd Summon, Bronze Skin Iron Bones (which boosts defense and attack power), and Leap Attack.
However, for Su Yu, this boss posed almost no challenge.
He summoned a Rock Elemental to taunt the boss and used Frost Nova to control the goat herd. Then, he stood his ground and unleashed a barrage of attacks on the boss.
The Boiling Goat Chieftain eliminated the Rock Elemental and used Leap Attack to close the distance with Su Yu, but Su Yu simply dodged using Blink.
Despite having 1100 health and activating Bronze Skin Iron Bones mid-fight, the Boiling Goat Chieftan couldn't last 8 seconds under Su Yu's relentless assault.
After looting the boss's drops, Su Yu continued forward.
Clearing a few more waves of minions, Su Yu encountered the second boss—the Beautiful Goat Chieftain.
The Beautiful Goat Chieftain becomes more challenging when her health drops below 50%, as she splits into three forms: one is the real boss, and the other two are illusions. Both the real boss and the illusions can use Charm Attack on players.
However, there are subtle differences between the real boss and the illusions, such as different pupil colors or slightly different horn shapes. Players must identify the real boss from these differences and reduce her health to 30% to avoid a wipe.
Su Yu was very familiar with this boss and quickly identified the real one among the three forms.
A few high-damage spells later, the second boss was defeated.
With the second boss eliminated, Su Yu entered the goat village and faced the final boss of the dungeon—the Goat Village Elder.
The Goat Village Elder is a wise figure with glasses, and his mechanics are unique.
The elder has 3000 health and 100 attack power, making him a formidable opponent for a typical five-person party.
However, before the fight begins, the elder gives the players 10 questions. For each correct answer, his health and attack power decrease by 9%.
But Su Yu had memorized the question bank in his past life, so the elder's questions were no challenge for him.
"Young man," the elder said, looking at Su Yu, "do you know the three major human empires on this continent?"
"Of course, the Golden Sparrow Empire, the Lien Empire, and the Wind Bell Empire," Su Yu answered calmly.
"Do you know the founding purpose of the mage faction, the Elemental Dome?"
"To seek endless knowledge."
"How many teeth does the Starforged Dragon King have?"
"34."
"What does 'shan'do' mean in Elvish?"
"Great Druid."
"What do Pandaren usually say when they part ways?"
"Next time, it's on me."
Su Yu answered all 10 questions perfectly, reducing the Goat Village Elder's health to a mere 300 points.
With a casual Lightning Bolt and a Minor Fireball Scroll, the entire dungeon was cleared.
