Chapter 31: Sherlock's Blessing
Chapter 31: Sherlock's Blessing
Money indeed gives one the power to do as they please.
Even in the magical world, as long as society remains stable, this statement holds true.
Take Draco Malfoy, for example.
Last year, during the flying lesson, Harry demonstrated exceptional Quidditch talent, which led Professor Mcgonagall to specially recruit him into the Gryffindor team, making him the youngest Seeker in Hogwarts history.
This jealousy consumed Malfoy, who had failed to win Harry's friendship on the train to Hogwarts.
So, in his second year, Malfoy, realizing that his Quidditch skills were not enough to join the Slytherin team, resorted to his father's wealth.
His father donated seven new brooms to the Slytherin team, and Snape, breaking tradition, promoted Malfoy to the position of Seeker.
Malfoy, feeling triumphant, naturally wanted to show off to Harry at some point.
This morning presented the perfect opportunity.
However, his boasting did not have the desired effect.
Harry's friend, Hermione, a Muggle-born, sharply pointed out that Malfoy's place on the Quidditch team was due to his father's wealth, not his own abilities.
This provoked Malfoy into uttering a particularly vile insult.
"Nobody asked you, you filthy little Mudblood!"
Immediately, everyone who knew the meaning of the word changed their expressions.
Ron, unable to contain his anger, drew his wand and cast a spell at Malfoy.
However, he forgot his wand was broken. The spell not only missed Malfoy but backfired, making Ron the laughingstock of the field.
Sherlock had already silently approached the group of students from behind when Malfoy insulted Hermione.
Seeing Ron hit by his own spell, he stepped forward from the crowd.
"Very impressive, Snivelhex, Weasley. If you had achieved this in my class, I would have given Gryffindor five points."
Sherlock's cold voice instantly silenced everyone.
He then raised his wand and cast a high-level general counter-curse on Ron, freeing him from the embarrassing state of continuously vomiting slugs.
Next, he turned his gaze to Malfoy.
To be honest, he knew the boy wasn't inherently bad; it was his upbringing that had turned him into a typical brat.
Unfortunately, Sherlock despised brats the most.
"Slytherin loses twenty points, Mr. Malfoy. For the next week, you will clean all the boys' toilets in the castle. Professor Snape will also be informed of this, and I will tell him myself during dinner tonight."
Sherlock's voice was icy, and his gaze could freeze a person solid.
Malfoy, meeting his eyes, instinctively looked away.
He looked extremely frustrated but couldn't do anything about Sherlock. In the end, he left the Quidditch pitch with the Slytherin team, his face dark.
Sherlock was not a native wizard of the magical world, and he didn't fully understand the deep hurt the word "Mudblood" caused to Muggle-born wizards.
But he knew that Malfoy's insult to Hermione was as discriminatory as a bus auntie from a different region saying, "Filthy outsiders come to beg in our city."
How hateful that woman was, Malfoy's current behavior is just as revolting.
When Sherlock appeared to deliver his "just verdict", Harry and the others were overjoyed.
Ron's face was flushed, still basking in the praise Sherlock had given him. He stammered out his thanks.
"Thank you, Professor Forrest."
Sherlock left them with nothing but a cool and handsome back view.
"The weather is nice today. I wish you all a pleasant time on the pitch."
The female members of the Gryffindor Quidditch team watched him leave with starry-eyed admiration.
"If only I could marry Professor Forrest after I graduate", Beater Aleia murmured to herself.
Chaser Angelina mocked her.
"You're only in fourth year and you're already thinking about these things. Even if there were a chance to marry Professor Forrest, it would be me first, since I'm graduating next year!"
"Hmph, once you graduate, you won't see Professor Forrest anymore, but I'll still see him every day at school!"
They bickered over who had a better chance with Sherlock, while Captain Wood only wanted to get back to practice. He was eager to secure this year's Quidditch Cup.
However, just as they were about to mount their broomsticks and return to the pitch, clouds suddenly obscured the clear sky.
A blinding bolt of lightning streaked over Harry and the others, followed by a deluge of raindrops that soaked their robes and dampened their spirits, which had just started to lift.
Wood was wailing to the sky, lamenting the bizarre weather.
Harry wiped the rain from his face and muttered to himself.
"Professor Forrest just wished us a good time a moment ago."
The conflict on the pitch was just a minor episode for Sherlock.
He walked from the Quidditch Pitch through Hogwarts Castle, planning to leave through the front gates for Hogsmeade when the sky suddenly opened up with a downpour.
He still hadn't gotten used to the unpredictable British weather.
Fortunately, magic made life convenient in every aspect.
Sherlock casually found an old broom in the first-floor storeroom, transformed it into a large umbrella with a wave of his wand, and cast a waterproof charm on his robes.
With the umbrella open, he strolled into the rain.
The summer rain made the air fresher and the temperature more comfortable, perfect for a stroll with an umbrella.
Although it was his first time walking to Hogsmeade, the route was familiar to him, thanks to the Marauder's Map he had confiscated from the Weasley twins.
The map was incredibly useful, and Sherlock couldn't help but admire the ingenious ideas and creativity of its makers.
Since it wasn't a Hogsmeade weekend for the older students and the sudden downpour, the wizarding town was not very crowded.
Following the main road, Sherlock easily found the Three Broomsticks, as Professor Mcgonagall had described.
He pushed open the door to the pub, and a warm, sweet aroma greeted him.
Under the soft orange lighting, a few wizards were seated at small round tables, drinking and chatting. As Sherlock entered, a familiar voice called out to him.
"Over here, Sherlock."
