Chapter 31: Invitation for a Night Adventure
Chapter 31: Invitation for a Night Adventure
"So, you two are thinking of a night adventure... tonight?"
At nine in the evening, Albert was writing a letter to his family when he heard the twins' conversation, causing him to twitch involuntarily.
Seems like there's an unfinished task involving a night adventure?
No!
That's impossible! I can't do something so reckless!
Not now! Albert lightly patted his cheeks. Going on a night adventure now would definitely get him caught by Filch.
"Albert, do you want to come with us?" the twins asked in unison.
"I heard..." Albert put down his quill and turned to face the twins. "Filch, the caretaker, knows most of the secret passages in the castle. This means he can easily catch you two who are unfamiliar with Hogwarts."
"If you don't want to be locked up before the term officially starts, it's best not to take unnecessary risks."
"I was just saying the same thing. Going on a night adventure now will definitely get us caught by the caretaker," Lee Jordan quickly changed his tune and echoed.
"No, no, I think the most important thing is not that," Albert shook his head and reminded them, "Gryffindor's courage is not recklessness. At the very least, you need to learn the Lumos spell first."
"Don't you think carrying an oil lamp is troublesome? It won't be easy to run away if we need to," Albert put down his wand and pointed to the book he borrowed from the library, "The Nineteenth-Century Book of Spells. It records the Disillusionment Charm. As long as you master this magic well, Filch will have a hard time catching you."
"So, are you willing to join us on this night adventure?" The twins clapped their hands together, seemingly celebrating something joyful.
"You two, don't tell me..." Albert immediately understood their intentions and shook his head, "You want me to join you on this night adventure, right? That's not impossible, but not now. I don't want to be caught by Filch. I suggest you learn some useful spells first, then we can wander around the school without being caught by him."
"Wonderful! With you joining us, we're more confident about our night adventure plan." George excitedly hooked his arms around Fred's elbows, and the two of them performed a strange tap dance.
In the eyes of the Weasley twins, their roommate was indeed very reliable.
"Tomorrow, I, George, and Lee plan to make another trip to Hogsmeade. Do you want to come with us?" Fred brought up their plans for the next day. "Only third-year students and above are qualified to go to Hogsmeade. However, we can sneak through the secret passage. It's the only wizarding village in all of Britain."
"I want to buy something from Zonko's Joke Shop. I didn't bring any money the last time I went," George said excitedly.
"That's the most..." Lee Jordan was about to chime in when he was interrupted by Albert.
"I'm not really interested in those prank items, but... it would be nice to see a wizarding village."
Speaking of which, there were quite a few panel tasks today. He glanced at them and froze.
The Beginning of Adventure.
This is the beginning of a great adventure. Sneak through the secret passage to Hogsmeade and experience the excitement and fun of adventure.
Reward: 100 experience points, George Weasley Affinity +5, Fred Weasley Affinity +5, Lee Jordan Affinity +5.
Affinity? What's that all about?
Why does this feel like playing a strategy game?
Could it be that once the affinity with either of them reaches 100, we can become legendary buddies? Albert quickly shook off the chilling thoughts in his head.
Being gay is something I, as an ordinary person, cannot accept.
"Let's go together after breakfast." Albert agreed and continued writing his letter. He would describe many things about Hogwarts in the letter based on the photos. This was something Albert was professional at, even though he hadn't written in a long time. It was, after all, a skill he used to make a living in the past.
Fred and George did not disturb him. The three of them were browsing through the book "Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1", looking for usable spells. Albert was right; the oil lamp was too heavy. It would be better to learn some spells.
A few minutes later, Albert suddenly smelled the scent of burning paper. He turned his head and saw that the Prophet newspaper had been lit, and the twins were jumping around trying to stamp out the fire.
"What are you two up to!" Albert put the unfinished letter back into the box and went to open the window to let the smoke out of the room.
"George was just trying the Fire-Making Spell." Fred coughed lightly, "The newspaper was successfully lit."
"You two almost burned the carpet. Don't make fire in the room." Albert said in an annoyed tone, "You still can't perfectly control your magic. What if you burn down the room?"
"I think I might have a talent for spells."
"How did you do it?" Lee Jordan asked curiously; he couldn't wait to try casting a spell himself.
"Don't do it here, go to the common room and aim at the fireplace!" Albert impatiently shooed them away.
These guys really don't have a sense of caution.
"If you still want to go to Hogsmeade Village tomorrow, it's best to learn the Lumos spell. I don't want to carry an oil lamp through the secret passage, and don't expect me to help you carry it either."
"Okay, I think you're right. Let's practice the Lumos spell first; it's a pretty useful spell." Both George and Fred agreed with Albert's suggestion.
Similar to Albert's first attempt at using a spell, the light didn't last long, and Lee Jordan couldn't even light up his wand.
"You three are not focused enough; you need to concentrate your attention on the wand." Albert put the box back on his bedside table and guided the trio who were practicing the Lumos spell, "Don't hesitate when waving the wand, and recite the incantation clearly and accurately. Beginners need to concentrate their willpower."
"It feels like your tone is similar to that of a professor. Maybe you can consider becoming one in the future." Fred asked jokingly.
"I think I'll pass on that!"
"Why?" George was puzzled.
"Because being a professor is tiring, especially when dealing with a bunch of mischievous kids. My patience isn't that good, especially with strangers outside of family and friends." Albert sat on the bed and picked up the Rubik's Cube on the table to fiddle with.
"What's that?" Fred's attention was immediately drawn to the Rubik's Cube.
"It's a Rubik's Cube, a Muggle toy used to train spatial thinking ability, memory, and reaction speed." Albert answered casually; he played with it purely out of boredom.
Of course, it also helped to improve his quick memory and reaction speed, and the experience gained, though small, was better than nothing. It also helped pass the time.
The three of them spent the entire evening mastering the Lumos spell.
As long as they were willing to work hard, they could quickly master simple spells, although they were not yet proficient at using the Lumos spell.
