Chapter 31: I Rise, One Sword to End It
Chapter 31: I Rise, One Sword to End It
Blood of the Supreme Sovereign splashed across the starry sky, accompanied by the mournful cries of the myriad cosmic laws. An unparalleled powerhouse disintegrated, his blood splattering the edges of the universe.
But just as this was happening, a new twist emerged!
Another Supreme Sovereign chose this moment to emerge, taking advantage of everyone’s distraction to prepare to unleash the Dark Turmoil!
“I thought I would only be able to pass away in the Life Forbidden Zone, but I never expected to encounter such a perfect opportunity.”
“If the heavens present it and I do not take it, I shall regret it. Fellow Daoists, I shall go ahead of you!”
Silently, a figure emerged from the Spirit Ruins.
His body exuded a decaying aura, truly in his last days, with his once towering frame now bent with age.
He was too old, having encountered a formidable opponent and then the Western Sovereign, nearly destined to perish within the Spirit Ruins. But the scent of battle awoke him, presenting him with a heaven-sent opportunity.
“It’s Yushen. He’s actually still alive, enduring until now, and he’s about to seize his last chance at survival.”
“Hehe, those few fellows and the Western Sovereign couple are fighting to the death to unleash the Dark Turmoil and extend their lives, but they’re going to be outdone.”
From the several major Life Forbidden Zones of the Ancient Bei Dou Domain, several Supreme Sovereigns’ divine senses manifested, coldly observing the scene, one of them sneering.
The mythic battlefield shook violently, like thunder, its sound reverberating through the universe. But the aged and decaying Supreme Sovereign Yushen didn’t even glance in that direction.
Upon his emergence, his life had entered its final countdown. If he could seize the opportunity to consume enough life, he might still survive.
Survive, by any means necessary!
What did it matter if the Western Sovereign hated him or if the other Supreme Sovereigns resented him? The most important thing was to stay alive.
“Thousand Mountains Traverse, Ten Thousand Hardships Crossed, I am the Supreme Sovereign. What can the masses do to me?!”
Yushen couldn’t help but laugh, mocking the other Supreme Sovereigns for their lack of foresight and the Western Sovereign for his shortsightedness. Their desperate struggles would ultimately be for his benefit.
He stood like a towering mountain of darkness, his terrifying aura threatening to shatter the Ancient Bei Dou Domain.
Then he cast his gaze over the land, speaking coldly and mercilessly, “I do not wish to die. I will borrow your vital blood essence.”
“Haha, to extend my life, you will have died with purpose, not in vain.”
His chilling voice echoed across the eight desolations, shaking the outer realms, causing every soul who heard it to tremble, their bodies growing cold from head to toe, their bones seeping with a chilling dread.
This was too horrifying. The supreme battle of the ancients hadn’t even ended, and an ancient Supreme Sovereign had emerged, ready to unleash the terrifying Dark Turmoil.
“Boom”
Yushen took a step forward, his ultimate might sweeping through the heavens and the earth, nearly splitting the entire Ancient Bei Dou Domain.
Though old, his tiger’s might still remained. He had been one of the primary initiators of the Dark Turmoil, his hands stained with blood, having already killed countless beings in the past.
“Buzz!”
Suddenly, the void trembled, and a golden path emerged from the Eastern Wastelands, hurtling toward the outer realms. It aimed directly at the Supreme Sovereign Yushen, who had just opened his mouth to absorb life essence.
A hazy figure stepped onto the golden path, ascending to the heavens. She was graceful and slender, clad in a green robe, ethereal and divine, without a single flaw, as beautiful as a flower that had fallen from the heavens, stunningly gorgeous.
Her eyes, too, were cold and terrifying.
Yushen was taken aback with anger. He had been careless and didn’t dodge, getting a face full of blood and falling to the ground.
Shaohua had already sensed what was happening and was rushing to aid, but seeing someone trying to take advantage of the situation in front of her, she felt a surge of anger.
Her eyebrows furrowed, and she swung her sword forward, shattering the ancient sky.
“Clang!”
The sword cut through eternity, like an immortal flying from the heavens, dazzlingly brilliant.
The Primordial Sword was so sharp it was blinding, more brilliant than the sun, splitting the sky with its power, terrifying to the extreme.
Supreme Sovereign Yushen’s heart raced as the void shattered inch by inch, a streak of sword light piercing through the cosmic laws, becoming the sole force, flying toward him. It was more terrifying than the collapse of the universe.
He never expected that such a formidable figure was hiding in the Ancient Bei Dou Domain, and to be so brazen, aiming to split him in two right from the start. This was far too overwhelming, with no warning at all.
"Young upstart, you may be rampant, but you still haven’t achieved the Dao."
Yushen had no choice but to fight. At his level, even if he was old and frail, he would not fear anyone; he still had the strength to fight.
He forcibly extracted his vital blood essence and thrust forward with a weapon that resembled both a sword and a spear.
The two divine weapons clashed, like a needle against a grain of wheat, each trying to outdo the other.
Crack!
Shaohua raised an eyebrow, saying nothing. She struck with one hand, which appeared slender and delicate but was actually filled with the power to crush immortals. Her hand glowed, collapsing the heavens.
Though she was a woman, her physical strength was at its peak, not inferior to an imperial body. This single strike sent the opponent’s weapon flying.
Pfft!
Yushen spat out a mouthful of blood and could not help but stagger backward, his body flying through the air.
"How can you be so strong? You’re almost at the Dao. No, that’s not right. You’ve already broken through that barrier, but you haven’t yet undergone the tribulation!"
His face was a mix of shock, anger, and confusion. His somewhat cloudy eyes seemed to see something, and he couldn’t help but exclaim in horror.
Shaohua paid him no mind. He was just an old dog blocking the road, barking madly, not worth her attention. She turned and slashed with her sword again.
Swish!
This sword strike contained her entire life’s understanding of the Dao and the laws, the pinnacle of swordsmanship, aiming to subdue the opponent in the shortest time possible.
A dazzling light shot out, moving at an incomprehensible speed, as if time itself had paused in that instant.
This was no longer a mere sword light; it was the Radiance of Immortal Flight, truly touching the domain of time!
The immortal light illuminated the heavens, and the sword energy pierced through the ages.
In the universe, star rivers shattered, vast star regions went dark, and in the face of this sword, they turned to ashes.
Roar!
Yushen let out a furious howl.
He was unwilling. He had waited for this once-in-ten-thousand-years opportunity, managed to evade the ruthless ones, and sidestepped the Western Sovereign. After enduring so much, he now faced this woman.
But he was simply too old, too weak to fight any longer.
His head flew into the sky, filled with regret and resentment, his eyes unblinking in death.
His regret was not for the killings and sins he had committed. His heart was cold, his blood was cold; he wouldn’t think like that.
Instead, he regretted ever coming out of seclusion.
What once-in-ten-thousand-years opportunity? It was all a lie. If he had known this would happen, he might as well have perished in the Life Forbidden Zone, rather than emerge and make a fool of himself!
Shaohua didn’t care what the old man was thinking in his final moments. Her snow-white wrist trembled slightly, and the long sword pierced his brow, the blade stained with blood, shattering the Immortal Altar.
A generation of ancient sovereigns thus came to an end.
Though Yushen was dead, his name lived on, forever branded on the pillar of shame.
After all, it was rare for a Supreme Sovereign to die so hastily. Other ancient sovereigns at least fought great emperors and met their end in a final glorious battle. Who would have thought he would be killed by someone who hadn’t yet achieved the Dao?
The several Life Forbidden Zones fell silent, perhaps out of sympathy, or perhaps at a loss for words.
Regardless, they remained detached, watching the world’s changes from afar.
"Yushen was too old; the heavens have decreed his end, not the fault of battle."
"A pity, the tide of fate cannot be reversed; one more person would make no difference."
May you all be healthy and long-lived, and I love you all~
