Chapter 307: The Third Attack
Chapter 307: The Third Attack
Hagrid rarely asked for their help, and without hesitation, they all agreed.
Fortunately, the Beast Repelling Charm was a simple spell, and although it was a massive task, with the combined efforts of the six, they finally completed it by evening.
They also received Hagrid's gratitude.
Cedric and Kyle received a large handful of evil hag feathers, the largest ones from their wings, perfect for making quills.
Conna and Autumn received a small bag for storing jewelry and coins, a little roughly woven but made up for in quality by its unicorn hair material.
Of the six, only Fred and George returned empty-handed.
Kneazles were not easy to come by, and it would take time.
Hagrid told Fred and George to visit the hut again after Christmas, and they would be able to see the Kneazles.
Whether Fred and George could gain the Kneazles' trust and bring them home depended on their own abilities.
After all, these magical creatures were very intelligent, and if they didn't like it, they could always escape.
"I wish tomorrow was Christmas already," Fred said eagerly on their way back to the castle.
"What if the Kneazles don't like us?" George was a little nervous and turned to look at Conna and Autumn. "Maybe we should get a small bag too, Ginny would love it as well."
"Why didn't you say so earlier!" Fred glanced at him.
"I just thought of it..."
The six returned to the castle, laughing and chatting, and with time to spare before dinner, they decided to make a trip to the Room of Requirement on the eighth floor.
Ever since Kyle told them about this magical place, it had become a great way to pass the time.
However, as they reached the third floor, a sharp voice echoed from the left corridor.
"Attack, attack! They're attacking! No one is safe, living or dead! Run for your lives!"
The voice was incredibly piercing.
Kyle and the others exchanged glances and forgot about the Room of Requirement. They hurried over.
In a dimly lit corridor, they saw Peeves shouting and two strangely-looking ghosts.
Nearly Headless Nick and the Bloody Baron, their bodies turned pitch black and emitting smoke, were floating six inches above the ground.
Nearly Headless Nick's head was half-detached, and a look of sheer terror was frozen on his face.
Harry stood between the two ghosts, looking at them in panic.
Meanwhile, more and more people rushed over, but strangely, no one approached the two ghosts and Harry. Everyone stood on both sides of the corridor, looking at Harry in the middle with complex expressions.
"I... it wasn't..."
Harry felt his stomach turn to ice. He wanted to explain, but his words came out weak and powerless.
At this moment, someone suddenly broke the silence and asked, "Harry, did you see who did this to them?"
"I didn't see it," Harry replied, as if grasping a lifeline, and quickly explained, "They were like this when I arrived, and then Peeves came..."
"Stop lying! It was you!"
Macmilian, a Hufflepuff, pushed through the crowd, "Kyle, don't be fooled by him, he's a Serpent Tongue.
And during the Dueling Club, he controlled a snake to attack Justin Finch-Fletchley.
Justin also said he was coming to the third floor to get his book that he forgot in the Transfiguration Classroom."
"You must have eavesdropped on our conversation!" he said, looking at Harry, "Fortunately, I lent my book to him, preventing you from succeeding!"
Behind Macmilian, a curly-haired boy looked at Harry in fear. His face turned pale, and he subconsciously moved closer to Kyle, as if seeking safety.
"I didn't, I didn't..." Harry explained, "I was in the library all afternoon and didn't go anywhere. How could I possibly have eavesdropped on you?"
"He was caught red-handed..."
"Enough, Macmillan!" Professor McGonagall emerged from the crowd, speaking sternly.
Professor Flitwick and Professor Sinistra also arrived, stepping forward to examine the two ghosts' conditions by bending down.
Peeves was floating back and forth above, looking extremely happy.
Ever since seeing the Bloody Baron in that state, Peeves had not stopped smiling and even composed a song.
"Oh, Potter, you naughty boy, look at what you've done.
You've messed with the ghosts, and you think it's funny..."
"Stop it, Peeves!" Professor McGonagall shouted.
Peeves stuck his tongue out at Harry and ran over to greet Kyle.
"Oh, little ghostie Kyle, you better be careful, or you'll end up like them... But it wouldn't be so bad if you became a ghost too."
"Peeves!" Professor McGonagall shouted again, and only then did Peeves run off happily.
The two professors dispersed the crowd, and Professor McGonagall conjured a large fan and handed it to Kyle, asking him to help send Nearly Headless Nick and the Bloody Baron to the hospital wing.

Kyle nodded and fanned the two ghosts like balloons as they descended the stairs.
Professor McGonagall headed upstairs, saying to Harry, "Come with me, Potter."
"Professor!" Harry quickly said, "I swear I didn't..."
"I can't handle this matter. Dumbledore wants to talk to you," Professor McGonagall replied briefly.
Their voices grew more distant, and soon, they couldn't be heard at all.
Kyle led the two ghosts through the entrance hall towards the hospital wing.
Their presence drew too much attention, and everyone they encountered along the way stared at them curiously.
"Kyle, what are you doing... Oh, isn't this Gryffindor's ghost?"
In the courtyard, Kyle also encountered Professor Lo Hart, who was looking at Nearly Headless Nick, "They made themselves a new outfit?"
"It's an attack, Professor," Kyle said, "Just like the previous two times."
"Of course, I know that. They must have been cursed," Professor Lo Hart smiled, "I've seen ghosts like this in a vampire's castle. They angered the vampire and could only float like balloons on the ceiling.
But after my persuasion, the vampire eventually lifted their curse... I just happen to remember the spell."
"That's wonderful," Kyle continued walking without stopping, "Then let's go to the hospital wing together. Professor McGonagall asked me to send them there."
"Of course, no problem. But I need to go back first to reply to my admirers."
Professor Lo Hart flashed his bright teeth, "Please tell Madam Pomfrey to wait for me for a while. I'll be there soon to help her solve this problem."
...
When they arrived at the hospital wing, Madam Pomfrey also had no solution for the two ghosts. She could only ask Kyle to fan them into the corner and then enclose them with a curtain.
As long as there was no wind, they wouldn't run around.
Before leaving, Kyle casually said, "Professor Lo Hart might be coming later."
"What's he coming for?" Madam Pomfrey frowned.
"To help with the ghost issue."
"Help?" Madam Pomfrey was exasperated, "He can't even distinguish between Sneezewort and Two-Leaf Clover. That story-telling, uneducated..."
At this point, she suddenly realized that Kyle was also there and quickly closed her mouth.
"It's nothing... You should go back now."
