Chapter 306: No Mourning for Obito, the Green Beast Might Guy Arrives at the Battlefield
Chapter 306: No Mourning for Obito, the Green Beast Might Guy Arrives at the Battlefield
A substantial amount of chakra gathered in Obito's throat, undergoing a rapid nature transformation with the enhancement of Fire Breath, ultimately transforming into a fiercely burning flame that he exhaled.
"Fire Dragon Flame Bullet!"
Orange-red flames spewed from Obito's mouth, instantly creating a fire far greater than Fireball. The unleashed flames danced wildly, resembling fiery snakes.
This was the challenge of the Fire Dragon Flame Bullet—controlling so many flames attacking from multiple directions simultaneously was a true test of a ninja's ability.
Obito continued to spew flames, the fire before him growing more intense by the second. The fiery serpents advanced toward the encroaching white mist.
Confronted by such a ferocious fire technique, the white mist that had previously engulfed the Fireball was now overwhelmed. The orange-red sea of fire steadily pushed back the mist, and the originally muddy ground began to dry under the intense heat of the flames.
"He actually mastered such an advanced fire technique." Having her Boil Release countered, Mei Terumi was astonished by Obito's prowess.
If they were just comparing ninjutsu, she had never encountered an opponent her age who could match her. Yet, Obito possessed superior taijutsu and even more formidable ninjutsu, giving Mei the impression that she was facing an enhanced version of herself.
"But unfortunately for you, it's a fire technique," Mei Terumi said as she ceased channeling chakra into her Boil Release and stopped exhaling mist, quickly retreating to perform hand seals for a water technique.
Once Mei stopped maintaining her Boil Release, the momentum of Obito's Fire Dragon Flame Bullet surged. The white mist vanished, leaving only the raging orange-red flames that rushed toward Mei.
Just as Mei Terumi was about to be engulfed by the fiery onslaught, she completed her final hand seal.
The flames were now dangerously close, their red glow enveloping Mei as if they would swallow her whole in the next instant.
"Water Style: Water Wall!"
An immense volume of water gushed from Mei's mouth, instantly extinguishing the flames before her. Immediately afterward, the entire expanse of fire that Obito had unleashed was drenched and snuffed out by the sudden eruption of water.
Mei Terumi's face reddened as she continued to manipulate the water technique, her countenance flushed from the intense heat of the flames she had just faced.
She was indeed a bold and skilled shinobi. Due to the distance between them and her confidence in her water techniques, she had chosen this approach to counter Obito's Fire Dragon Flame Bullet.
Normally, when one's ninjutsu was overpowered, the next step would be to find a way to dodge or evade the attack.
However, Mei Terumi understood the critical nature of this ninjutsu clash. Even if she wanted to dodge the attack, the wide range of the fire technique left her with very little room to maneuver. Obito would undoubtedly seize the opportunity to pressure her with taijutsu, drastically reducing her chances of victory.
On the contrary, if her water technique could overpower Obito's fire technique in this clash, she could catch him off guard with her water manipulation skills.
"Damn it! How is it that everyone from Kirigakure seems to be proficient in water techniques?" Obito watched helplessly as the vast flames he had unleashed disappeared in less than twenty seconds, his heart filled with frustration.
With Mu Zhu's guidance, Obito was well aware of the chakra nature advantages and disadvantages. Fire techniques were at a significant disadvantage against water techniques. In a situation where their strength was relatively equal, a fire technique would inevitably be suppressed by a water technique. Only when one's strength far surpassed their opponent's could they potentially use a fire technique to counter a water technique.
Obito glanced around with his peripheral vision, assessing the overall situation on the battlefield as he looked for an opportunity to switch opponents with Kakashi. Fighting Mei Terumi was simply too stifling, and with his Sharingan, he had strong resistance against pressure. Fighting one-on-one or even two-on-one was easier for him than for Kakashi.
"Water Style: Water Dragon Bullet Technique!"
Mei Terumi maintained control over her water technique, using shape transformation to turn the water wall into an incredibly thick water dragon.
Obito stared at the suddenly appearing massive water dragon, bewildered. It was his first time witnessing a ninjutsu transform into another ninjutsu.
He exerted himself to the limit, attempting to dodge, but the water dragon was already too close. He was directly struck by the thick water dragon bullet and sent flying, crashing into five large trees before coming to a stop.
"Cough, cough." Having endured such a powerful blow, Obito's breathing became labored, and he coughed a few times before managing to stand up with the aid of his breathing technique.
"To still be standing after taking such a hit... But do you have the strength to continue fighting?" Mei Terumi didn't take advantage of this opportunity to attack; instead, she marveled at Obito's tenacity.
Obito glanced at Kakashi and Rin, still engaged in battle, and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth as he replied, "Of course. My comrades are still fighting, so I have no reason to fall."
These words were not only an answer to Mei's question but also a reminder to himself.
He focused intently on his total concentration breathing, repeatedly concentrating his breathing. The breathing technique could accelerate his body's recovery, even if it couldn't heal him instantly like medical ninjutsu. At this moment, every bit of recovery increased his chances.
Facing a fully-powered Obito, Mei Terumi avoided direct confrontation, but now that he was heavily injured, she pressed her advantage and engaged him in close-quarters combat.
Obito's Sharingan was still active, and just like before, he could see through Mei's attacks. However, his body had become sluggish due to his injuries.
Bang!
After a minute of intense hand-to-hand combat, Mei landed a punch that knocked Obito to the ground. Although he quickly got back up, his aura visibly weakened.
"I'm still standing. How can you say I've lost?" Obito panted in rebuttal.
"You're stubborn. Are all you Konoha ninjas like this?" Mei sighed, exasperated. She had already vented most of her anger on Obito, and she had no intention of killing him. She just wanted to obtain the two scrolls and pass the exam.
Seeing that Mei didn't seem to have any plans to attack further, Obito remained silent and focused on recovering, choosing not to take the initiative to attack.
"Obito's opponent from Kirigakure actually has such strength..." Kakashi frowned, noticing Obito's dire situation.
He felt that they had encountered some of the strongest participants in the Chunin Exam. On their missions, they had never failed against experienced Chunin teams, but now they were being pushed to the brink by two Genin squads. These opponents were certainly not ordinary Genin.
At this moment, Kakashi was also at a loss. Obito had practically lost, and although Rin had the upper hand, she couldn't quickly finish off her opponent either. Kakashi himself had expended a lot of energy using Raiton: Lightning Breath for an extended period, and he was now at his limit.
Kakashi remained calm, knowing that while he didn't have a foolproof plan, there was still a glimmer of hope. He had to bet everything on his remaining chakra and stamina for one final strike.
If he could take down the strongest opponent, Kisame, they would still have a chance. Although Mei was strong, her two teammates were not as skilled as Hei Zi and Momochi Zabuza.
Just as Kakashi prepared to use his last remaining Chidori, a familiar voice reached his ears.
"Damn it! You're ganging up on us! Let this Green Beast of Konoha teach you a lesson!"
Might Guy saw Kakashi's disheveled state and the two Kirigakure ninjas surrounding him, and his anger reached its peak.
"Eight Inner Gates, First Gate: Open! Second Gate: Life Gate, Open!"
Might Guy immediately entered Stone Mind, opening two gates in quick succession. With the boost in strength and chakra from the Eight Inner Gates, he sprinted towards Kakashi and delivered a powerful Whirlwind Kick, forcing Kisame and the Kirigakure Genin to retreat.
Kakashi had never found Guy's voice so pleasing. Even Guy's green spandex outfit seemed cool now.
"This has turned into a massive battle," Genma Shiranui said as he scanned the area, noticing that there were twelve ninjas present besides their team.
"Go help Obito. He looks worse off than Kakashi," Ebizo said, noticing that Obito seemed to be in a worse state than Kakashi while facing off against Mei.
Genma nodded, and the two of them threw shuriken at Mei to distract her before rushing towards Obito.
"Another team of ninjas..." Mei dodged the shuriken and noticed the Konoha forehead protectors on the two attackers.
Mei considered just grabbing a random Earth scroll and running away. At this rate, it seemed like all the ninja squads in the area would gather here.
"Obito, are you alright?" Genma asked, keeping his eyes on Mei.
"I'm fine. Probably just some fractures," Obito replied with a smile, feeling relieved now that reinforcements had arrived.
"That's quite serious," Genma commented dryly.
"Obito, take a rest. We'll handle her," Ebizo said, brandishing a kunai.
"Mmm. Be careful. Her Water Style jutsu can change forms. It can suddenly transform from a water ball to a water dragon, and she also has a powerful mist jutsu," Obito said, not mincing his words as he sat down against a nearby tree to rest while keeping an eye on Mei.
Genma and Ebizo were average in strength, but Mei was also not at her peak condition. She had already used three jutsu consecutively in her fight against Obito.
Obito didn't have high expectations of them; he just needed them to stall for a few minutes. If the tide was to turn, it would be up to Might Guy.
Although Obito enjoyed teaming up with Rin, when it came to the teammate who gave him the most sense of security, it was undoubtedly Might Guy, who always stepped up in dangerous moments.
Obito continued to use his breathing technique to recover while keeping an eye on Kakashi and Might Guy's battle.
"Kakashi, can you still fight?" Might Guy asked, keeping an eye on their opponents while addressing Kakashi.
"For now. I'll hold off Shark Face, and you quickly take care of the other Kirigakure ninja," Kakashi replied, formulating their next move.
"Our long-awaited cooperative battle! Leave it to me!" Might Guy gave Kakashi a thumbs-up. His breathing became more focused, and he began to gather chakra.
Kakashi nodded and charged towards Kisame with his White Fang, eager to turn the tables after enduring for so long.
