Chapter 305: That's Not Something You Can Do
Chapter 305: That's Not Something You Can Do
Within the square bronze bathtub, a graceful female figure lay, bathed in soft light from above. Her skin glowed in the gentle radiance.
A cute little yellow rubber duck floated on the water's surface, and the girl lay quietly, gazing up at the ceiling. Normally, she would have started playing with the duck, but today, her mind seemed elsewhere.
Her gaze kept drifting towards the gaming console on the shelf beside her, as if something there was weighing heavily on her mind.
After a period of silence, as if her patience had reached its limit, Hanae stretched out her slender, jade-like arm and picked up the Nintendo Switch. The chat software displayed their last conversation:
Little Monster: My body hurts, I want to see you.
Sealed One: Come to Japan right now!
Little Monster: I'll wait for you.
Their conversations were always simple.
Initially, Lu Ke had been very talkative, but his barrage of words had overwhelmed her, and she had been a little scared. After a few days of ignoring him, Lu Ke's communication style had become as concise as hers.
This conversation had taken place the night before at 11:00 PM, and it was now 9:30 AM the next day, just ten and a half hours later. But to Hanae, it felt like an eternity had passed.
She put the Switch back and stared blankly, deep in thought.
How far was Chicago, USA, from Japan? How long would it take to get there?
It would take at least three to five days, and that was still a long time...
Feeling glum, she poked the rubber duck with her finger, watching it sink into the water, then blew on it, sending it floating away. She stretched her foot out from the bubbles and hooked it back, passing the time.
Suddenly, she stopped.
Despite the thick bulletproof glass door and the brass and steel walls, her exceptional lineage allowed her to hear the footsteps approaching the corridor outside. She could even discern the varying weights and paces.
There were two sets of footsteps, one familiar and the other unfamiliar.
...
Tremors!
Vibrations so intense they could be mistaken for an earthquake! The training room's structure was designed to be sturdy, but the fierce combat within caused the solid building to tremble incessantly, as if it might collapse at any moment.
Inside the spacious room, rows of weapons were neatly arranged. Well-crafted swords and armor lay discarded as dazzling sword lights clashed in the air, creating countless sparks with each strike, each blow heavy and powerful.
Three figures, mostly hidden from the sight of even most halfbreeds, fought fiercely. The four weapons had already clashed multiple times, and strings of sparks exploded amidst the flashing blades. The three combatants rapidly exchanged positions, their swords becoming mere blurs in their swift movements.
Multiple sword bodies spun and collided violently, creating ripples of light that danced across the room. This was the result of the sunlight reflecting off the blades of the Chidori, Kumo, Murasame, and Dick's swords.
The three combatants, resembling dragon-like humans, had been engaged in high-intensity combat for ten minutes.
Yuan Zhisheng's temples were drenched in sweat, his muscles quivering like flowing water. He maintained the Dragon Bone State at full intensity, and the sweat trickling into his eyes brought a slight burning pain. But he couldn't blink, as doing so would break his fragile balance and lead to his defeat.
His heart raced, pumping blood at an overburdened frequency to supply his entire body. His powerful "Emperor" physique supported his overclocked state, allowing him to wield the Chidori and Kumo, which transformed into ethereal shadows, each blocking the Murasame and Dick's sword.
As the sword lights intertwined again, Yuan Zhisheng grunted, and his tightly-knit arms, resembling dragon bones, unleashed an astonishing force, forcibly pushing back the two ferocious weapons.
The three separated, and as Yuan Zhisheng gasped for breath, he remained vigilant, facing the other two. His astonishment reached its peak.
The Japanese branch often compared the headquarters to a kindergarten, referring to the headquarters' specialists as children and their task of receiving them as babysitting.
Cassel Academy was, after all, just a school. Only a few individuals had the opportunity to engage in direct combat. The vice-principal's discipline prevented even the use of incantations, and only on Free Day could they wield weapons freely. In contrast, the enemies of the Japanese branch were "demons," the result of the corruption and fall of purebred lineages, the dirty politics, and the blood and tears of the underworld. The cruelty of both sides was indeed not on the same level.
However, Yuan Zhisheng never expected these two "children" to be so tenacious. S-level meant possessing a stable but not yet threshold-reaching lineage, which shouldn't be a match for an "Emperor." Even if he were the weakest of the Emperors, it should still be the same.
He was unaware that Caesar and Chu Zihan were just as astonished as he was. Even facing the two-person siege, Yuan Zhisheng had managed to hold his ground, enduring the onslaught until now without sustaining any significant injuries, only appearing slightly disheveled.
The two of them had been enhanced by Lu Ke.
Last night, Lu Ke injected Chu Zihan with a needle of an unknown crimson serum. The substance was like the essence extracted from the Bronze and Flame King, further purified and neutralized, pushing Chu Zihan's bloodline to a level he had never dared to imagine before.
Caesar's enhancement was even more miraculous. Lu Ke didn't use anything on him, merely stating, "Your bloodline is powerful enough; a simple activation will do." And thus, Caesar gained multiple wind manifestations.
Weasel, the advanced Bloodthirsty Weasel, and the destructive "Eye of the Wind King" were now at his disposal. He felt that Yachi Sakura's "Yin Flow" or even lower-tier wind manifestations could also be used, but he just needed to get familiar with them. It was as if he had transformed into a member of the Dragon Race.
"So, super halfbreeds really do exist."
Caesar, with a slight sweat on his forehead, couldn't hide his astonishment as he looked at the scattered Dick Thrust in his hands.
He and Chu Zihan exchanged a glance, both seeing the fear in each other's eyes. If it weren't for the enhancement, they would have had to fight for their lives to survive against Young Brother.
Is this monster the weakest among all the hidden threats in Japan? Who else could be stronger than these enhanced individuals, whom they might not even defeat in a one-on-one fight?
"I underestimated you. At least in terms of strength, you are flawless."
Young Brother was the first to sheathe his swords and blades. The halfbreed's manifestations were their trump cards, and there was no need to use them unless absolutely necessary. This sparring session had already proven Caesar and Chu Zihan's abilities.
"We didn't expect the Emperor of the Japanese branch to be such a monster. I apologize for not being too polite to you before."
Caesar's tone was noticeably more relaxed. He appreciated capable individuals, and the Emperor's abilities were beyond question. Moreover, although Young Brother looked a bit effeminate and smoked women's cigarettes, his fighting style was undeniably manly.
Young Brother shook his head. "I also underestimated you. You are indeed excellent elites, not inferior to the Emperor."
Knowing the title "Emperor" already revealed a lot. The fact that the Japanese halfbreeds were descendants of the White Queen had been exposed. Perhaps the headquarters knew more than they had anticipated. But how did they find out?
Lu Ke's deceitful face flashed through his mind, causing his lips to twitch involuntarily. For some reason, he felt that this guy was probably the reason behind the leaked secrets of the Serpent Clan.
"Even with the Serpent Clan, they couldn't eradicate the Demon Hordes. Perhaps we did underestimate them."
Chu Zihan calmly spoke up, "But at least for now, we've proven that we can be of help to you, right?"
"Of course."
Young Brother nodded, his tone ambiguous. "If three Emperors can't destroy the Demon Hordes, then the Serpent Clan leaders should offer their heads in apology. But the Demon Hordes have many members and their hideout is unclear. To eliminate them, the family needs to prepare and launch a full-scale attack."
He wiped the sweat from his brow, feeling sticky. "Let me take you all for a refreshing bath to freshen up, and we can discuss further when we return."
He was genuinely worried that his father might have been slashed by Lu Ke.
Caesar and Chu Zihan's expressions changed simultaneously, and they spoke in unison.
"No way!"
"Let's go to the hot springs instead!"
If they were to take a cold bath, the effeminate-looking Young Brother would be the manliest of the three.
...
The corridor was made of cold steel, airtight, and exuded a stifling atmosphere. Two figures moved down the hallway.
As the distance closed, Lu Ke's heart raced with anticipation. This long-awaited journey to meet his online crush, the fluttering feeling of a young deer—this was the pure love he had lost long ago.
Sure enough, when dating a pure girl, one's own heart would become pure as well.
Lu Ke felt a strange sense of elation, as if he had sipped a glass of fine red wine, warming his body. His mood lifted, and after a moment of thought, he took out his phone, and on the screen, the NoMa girl bowed slightly.
"How may I assist you?"
The flawless version is available on 69shu! 6=9+shu_bar, the first to publish this novel.
"Create a Tokyo travel plan for me, pre-book all the projects, and arrange for either small private tours or bustling group activities."
"Understood, I've already planned your route."
NoMa swiftly sent him a detailed travel guide in just a few seconds, and Lu Ke carefully examined it.
Old Dad hesitated for a moment, then spoke respectfully, "Master, Hananae's 'Judgment' is incredibly powerful. It's a manifestation that issues a death command to all within its domain, causing indiscriminate destruction.
"I'm just looking at the route plan," Lu Ke replied nonchalantly. "It's just a judgment, I'll be fine."
Hanae is a "Emperor" polluted by the First Generation, and she herself is a descendant of the White King with an extremely high purity. After being polluted by the First Generation again, her lineage can be said to be even higher than some of the Second Generation, but it's still far from the First Generation with the Dragon Bone Cross.
For others, Hanae with the power of judgment might be a terrifying force, but for Lu Ke, who can only be breached by the First Generation, Hanae is just a tame little kitten.
"I'm not worried about you, I'm worried that she might anger you. If that happens, please bear with her a little."
"I'll help her control her Incantation. In the future, she won't need to be confined to a room and can speak freely."
Old Dad stammered, seemingly embarrassed, "Master, although Hanae is already an adult, she has been isolated from the world for many years, and her mental maturity isn't exceptional. So please... please... go easy on her."
"What do you mean?" Lu Ke furrowed his brows, then felt something light and sealed in plastic being pushed into his hand. He opened his palm to reveal a box of twelve 0.01-point drinks.
Lu Ke: ...
Why do outsiders always see him like this?
He came to Japan for a pure love story!
Lu Ke casually put the drinks into his spatial storage. They were of no use to him at all. His life level had undergone several leaps, and his true form had become an unnameable thing, maintaining only a human-like appearance.
If the First Generation couldn't give birth due to reproductive isolation, similar to humans and chimpanzees, and if a Caesar could be created through mass breeding efforts like in Pompeii, then his analogy to humans would be like humans and bacteria.
Forcing a bacterium to give birth to a human child would be too defying of nature. The only possible carrier of his genetic material on this planet might be that reckless Stellar Being—the Black Queen.
But how could the Black Queen Nigghard, who devours the roots of the World Tree and seeks to destroy the world, possibly be a female dragon? Hmm... theoretically, the White King shouldn't be too inferior to the Black Queen. If Hanae inherits the White King's legacy and he provides some support, would there be a chance?
Lu Ke pondered as he walked down the corridor until Old Dad's ingratiating voice sounded.
"We're here."
Lu Ke stopped and saw a twenty-centimeter-thick metal wall and three layers of bulletproof glass. The security here was exceptionally tight, even though the walls would become as fragile as paper after the judgment was activated.
The sound of splashing water echoed, and a blurry shadow stood behind the misted glass door, indicating someone was getting out of the bathtub.
Lu Ke raised an eyebrow and promptly shooed Old Dad away.
"You can leave. Go back and clean up the spies hiding in the Serpent Clan. Fully cooperate with Caesar and Chu Zihan's work."
"Yes, yes, I've already given the order. You can leave with Hanae without any obstacles. Just remember to wear... cough," Old Dad added as he respectfully took his leave.
The shadow in the bathroom seemed to be getting dressed. In the past, she would have come out directly, but Lu Ke had taught her online how to protect her privacy, and now it seems Hanae is listening and following his instructions."
Lu Ke couldn't help but smile. He gently pushed open the door and entered the room, looking around at the simple and plain surroundings. The room was sparsely furnished with only a bed, a TV, a wardrobe, and some basic necessities. Nothing else was there.
The bathroom door opened, and Lu Ke looked up. A girl in a shrine maiden costume stood there. She had a round forehead, long eyelashes, a slender figure, and a beautiful appearance. The only regret was the lack of liveliness in her eyes.
Hanae's deep rose-colored eyes held a searching look. She didn't seem surprised by the presence of a strange man in the room, nor did she show any signs of shyness or embarrassment. Instead, she lowered her head with anticipation and wrote something.
After finishing, she showed the paper to the person in front of her.
"Are you Lu Ke?"
"Yes, it's me."
Lu Ke approached Hanae and gently caressed her damp red hair, a smile on his face, his tone gentle.
"I came to Japan to see you."
These words brought a smile to Hanae's face, though it was thin and cold, like a glimmer on the snow.
"You came so fast."
