Chapter 305: Meeting the Sage of the Six Paths 【17】
Chapter 305: Meeting the Sage of the Six Paths 【17】
In a world of white mist, a realm between life and death, a place where only those of the Six Paths could tread, a figure appeared. It was Feng Ye, his physical form stepping into this realm, not merely a chakra manifestation or a spirit, but flesh and blood.
This was the power of the Rinne Sharingan, capable of traversing the boundaries of life and death, allowing the living to enter the realm of the dead and vice versa, as well as access to the in-between world at will.
Step by step, Feng Ye walked forward, each footfall stirring up dark ripples beneath his feet. After several paces, two figures came into view up ahead.
Both wore the garb of the Six Paths, one bearing the Byakugan, identical to that of the Hyuga clan, and the other with rippling circles in his eyes.
The Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki, and his brother, Hamura Otsutsuki!
"To enter this realm in the flesh, is this the power of your dojutsu?" The Sage of Six Paths spoke, his gaze fixed on Feng Ye as he approached.
Feng Ye glanced at Hamura, seeing the gravity in his expression and a hint of tension in his eyes. The pressure Feng Ye exuded was immense, far beyond what he had been capable of in the past.
It wasn't just Hamura who felt it; even the Sage of Six Paths, standing before Feng Ye, felt a tinge of nervousness. In his prime, the Sage had wielded the power of the Ten-Tails and the Six Paths, a strength comparable to the third stage of the Six Paths realm, not unlike Feng Ye's current power.
But now, having split off the Ten-Tails, the Sage's retained strength was, at most, on par with that of Kaguya Otsutsuki, falling short of Feng Ye's might.
"Nice to meet you," Feng Ye said.
"No," the Sage replied. "It's our first formal meeting."
Feng Ye turned his attention back to the Sage, ignoring Hamura for the moment. "The Fifth Hokage of Konohagakure has come to pay his respects. I seek information about the whereabouts of Kinshiki Otsutsuki. Have you any leads?"
Feng Ye wasn't keen on searching for Kinshiki throughout the ninja world. After all, Kinshiki could use the Yellow Spring of the Dead to hide in other dimensions, making him incredibly difficult to find.
So, seeking the Sage of Six Paths' wisdom on the matter was the best course of action.
"Nice to meet you," the Sage said again. "I am Hagoromo Otsutsuki, as you know. I, too, have been searching for the alien's whereabouts, but I have yet to discover his location."
In this in-between world, while they could observe every corner of the ninja world, it wasn't on a grand, overarching scale. They couldn't simply gaze upon the entire world at once but could only view individual areas.
The Sage of Six Paths had been keeping an eye on Feng Ye, but ever since Feng Ye obtained the Rinne Sharingan, his ocular power had surpassed that of the Sage, blocking the Sage's sight and preventing him from observing Feng Ye's activities clearly.
Feng Ye wasn't one to take kindly to being spied on, and after blocking the Sage's vision, the Sage had turned his attention elsewhere in the ninja world.
The Sage had sensed the arrival of Kinshiki Otsutsuki and witnessed his defeat of Orochimaru and destruction of the latter's base. However, Kinshiki then used the Yellow Spring of the Dead to vanish, and the Sage had yet to locate him again.
"No leads?" Feng Ye mused. "His threat goes without saying. I need your assistance in finding him."
"I will do my best to discover his location and inform you when I do," the Sage promised, nodding slightly.
In truth, the Sage needed no reminding. He would have done so regardless, for both Feng Ye and Kinshiki Otsutsuki were aliens, and if they weren't from the same faction, a clash was inevitable.
Moreover, judging by the events that had transpired in the ninja world thus far, it was evident that Feng Ye wasn't seeking to destroy it. Thus, to protect the ninja world, Feng Ye would undoubtedly fight Kinshiki.
Hagoromo's expression tightened slightly.
Hamura's demeanor became stiff and strained as he looked at Feng Ye and said, "You are an outsider, and I admit I did not trust you. My previous actions were offensive..."
Feng Ye calmly replied, "When I needed power to recover, you gave your chakra to your descendants to hunt me down. This is not something that can be simply brushed off as a minor offense."
The Sage of Six Paths sighed and said, "Hamura and I have differing opinions, but we both want to protect the ninja world. I have tried to stop him before, but my failure to do so was my fault. If you wish to hold someone accountable, then let it be me."
"..."
Feng Ye's gaze deepened as he looked at the Sage of Six Paths and Hagoromo, causing the atmosphere to become oppressive, as if a chill were spreading.
After a few seconds, Feng Ye retracted the aura he was emitting and calmly said to Hamura, "I won't pursue the matter of the chakra you released, but you must sever that connection—that chakra resides in your descendant, and I will not take it by force."
"Agreed," Hagoromo quickly replied, speaking on behalf of Hamura.
Given their current states, if a conflict were to arise between them and Feng Ye, it would likely be a brutal one. Moreover, Hagoromo did not wish to clash with Feng Ye, as he believed that even if Feng Ye couldn't create a truly peaceful world, he could at least usher in a period of peace lasting several decades or even a century for the ninja world.
"Also, give me another portion of your chakra." Feng Ye turned to face the Sage of Six Paths.
...
Moments later, Feng Ye returned to the ninja world.
In the palm of his hand, two clusters of chakra floated, one white and one black. The white represented the Six Paths Yang Power, while the black was the Six Paths Yin Power.
In the original storyline, these were the two portions of chakra that the Sage of Six Paths had given to Naruto and Sasuke, and though they were divided into yin and yang, they were both of the Six Paths level.
While these two powers were essentially useless to Feng Ye and couldn't elevate his strength any further, they would be incredibly beneficial to others.
If Kakashi were to receive one of these portions, he would instantly ascend to the Six Paths level.
"I'll give one to Kakashi, but who should I give the other one to..."
Feng Ye pondered this for a moment.
There weren't many people qualified to bear these two portions of chakra. Kurenai Yuhi and Rin Nohara wouldn't be able to handle it unless they perfected their Sage Body Tempering.
However, neither of them was particularly interested in cultivation. They would probably rather spend their time figuring out how to 'squeeze' more out of him than work on perfecting their bodies.
As for the others...
If Itachi Uchiha continued to cultivate his Sage Body, given his talent, he might be able to develop a sufficiently robust body within ten years. Combined with his Mangekyo Sharingan, he would then be able to bear a portion of the Six Paths power.
Naruto and Sasuke, after merging with the chakra of Indra and Ashura, would also be qualified to bear the Six Paths power.
The last option was Hinata, who had merged with Hamura's power.
"I guess I'll give it to Hinata," Feng Ye decided after some brief deliberation.
Naruto and Sasuke were unrelated to him, so they were out of the question. That left Itachi and Hinata, both his disciples. While Hinata's talent was far inferior to Itachi's, she had inherited Hamura's chakra, making her a more suitable choice.
Hmm.
To be honest, all these reasons were just excuses.
The real reason was simply that Hinata was cuter, so he decided to give it to her.
