Chapter 305: Don't Get So Close, It's Deadly!
Chapter 305: Don't Get So Close, It's Deadly!
"Welcome back, Erza. President Makarov and Master Jose are attending the regular meeting," Mira told Erza, "What's with that horn?"
"It's the horn of a monster I defeated. The locals gave it to me as a memento," Erza seemed to like this item, "But let's not talk about that. I heard they've caused quite a stir again..."
Those involved in the fight shuddered.
Natsu and Gray made Happy's sound.
Erza went through each of these problem children, sighing at the end, "Forget it, I don't want to talk about you today."
Lucy whispered to Lachi, "Haven't you said this already?"
Lachi forced a smile, "That's just how Erza is..."
She had just been called out as well, having caused trouble during the last mission.
But Cana was the most formidable one. She went to a tavern for a drink, and since she didn't have enough money, she put the bill on the Council Chamber's tab.
It was unclear if this was done while she was sober or after getting drunk.
Erza truly didn't want to say more today, as she had something more important on her mind:
"Although I should discuss this with the President first, but since he's not here, I'll do it my way. Natsu, Gray, I need your strength for this. Help me out!"
"Is Erza forming a team with them?!" Those in the guild with slightly more normal thinking were all a bit shocked.
What kind of trouble would this stir up?
Mira tilted her head, "Would a team of Erza, Natsu, and Gray be the guild's strongest team?"
"Huh?" Cana looked at her, "Isn't the strongest team you and Jose?"
Mira waved her hand, "We can't count ourselves. I think Natsu and Gray together might even surpass me."
Cana, who had been beaten up by Mira a few years ago, believed that Gray and Natsu together couldn't beat her.
And the way this was said...
"So, in your eyes, is Jose on par with Erza? I wonder if he'd be happy to hear you say that."
"I think he would," Mira smiled.
After inviting Natsu and Gray, Erza pondered, "Actually, it would be more secure if Mira came along too, but the guild needs someone to take care of things... Well, the three of us should be enough."
She wanted to cause trouble for the Dark Guild Ironwood and investigate their intentions... In this situation, it felt like partnering with Jose would be more comfortable.
"Anyway, we'll set off early tomorrow morning. You two get ready, and I'll fill you in on the details along the way."
"We haven't agreed yet!"
Natsu and Gray's opinions were completely ignored by Erza.
"If you need more manpower, I can recommend a new member," Mira suggested to Erza with a smile, introducing Lucy, "Lucy gets along well with Natsu, and she might be able to help mediate the conflict between Natsu and Gray."
Erza listened to Mira's introduction seriously, "Hmm? You defeated a strong gorilla mercenary? I see, she's a powerful new member."
"I have a feeling you might have misunderstood."
Mira found it strange. She was talking about the same thing, but for some reason, different people always seemed to spread different versions of the story.
...
The venue for the regular meeting remained unchanged, still at the large villa in the outskirts of Croba City.
This wasn't Jose's first time here, so he didn't feel the slightest bit nervous. Not only was he familiar with the venue, but many of the guild masters also seemed familiar.
In fact, the guild masters found him even more recognizable. The title of the New Era's Fairy Strategist was first coined by these guild masters.
The guild masters expressed their envy to Makarov, wondering why Fairy Tail always had such outstanding young people.
Makarov thoroughly enjoyed their envious gazes.
So, when he arrived, instead of hurrying to rest in his room, he took Jose around, his expression full of swagger.
Jose couldn't persuade the guild master, so he politely greeted those he was acquainted with, like the Four-Headed Hound's guild master Gorden, and the Azure Sky Horse's guild master Pop.
"President Rod!" President Pop maintained his usual friendly demeanor, which could be unnerving. "I heard about the last incident from Hibiki and the others. They were very grateful for your and Mira's help."
"It's nothing. Hibiki and the others were a great help to us," Rod replied.
"Oh my, still so modest," President Pop gestured to the girl beside him, "This is our guild's Jenny, a popular model just like Mira."
"Miss Jenny, it's been a while," Rod greeted her.
"It has been a while," Jenny responded.
Jenny clearly remembered this referee, and although she gritted her teeth upon seeing him, she maintained basic politeness in front of the guild masters.
"So, you two know each other? You should get along well~"
As the pre-meeting banquet began, the atmosphere gradually became more relaxed.
Jenny sat next to Rod and said with a hint of annoyance, "You're really dating Mira?"
"Yes," Rod was puzzled by Jenny's intense reaction. Could she also be a rival in love? "You're admitting it so casually in public. Don't you know that models' popularity can decline if they're in a relationship?"
Rod nodded, "That's usually the case, but my relationship with Mira has been public for a while now.
Even though she doesn't pay much attention to it, her popularity is still quite high, right? She even became the top-ranked in some kind of ranking."
"..." Jenny felt a stab in her chest. She couldn't understand why Mira's popularity was defying logic and even took away her own top spot.
Rod casually suggested, "Why don't you try dating someone too? Hibiki seems like a good choice."
Find a capable woman to tie him down and prevent him from being overly friendly with other people's girlfriends.
Hibiki was indeed a great choice! Not just good, but the perfect boyfriend... Jenny's heart raced.
She had heard about Mira and Rod's relationship from Hibiki, which was why she came to the regular meeting.
In truth, she wasn't quite sure why she came.
Perhaps she wanted to take this opportunity to increase her own popularity?
Perhaps she wanted to find out who the Fairy Strategist was and if it was the same person who had caused the other Jenny to lose her explosive magic crystal.
Or maybe it was simply because Hibiki had mentioned Fairy Tail, and she wanted to see if she could meet someone from the guild.
Jenny glanced at Rod, who was about a meter away from her, and said, "Hey, I was just about to say this, why are you avoiding me like this?"
Rod estimated the distance and said, "It's not that far, is it? About a meter, a normal social distance."
"Social distance?" Jenny struck a charming pose, "I'm a well-known model, and you don't want to get a little closer?"
They weren't strangers, and getting a little closer wouldn't kill anyone.
Rod shook his head, "I don't want to. As you said, this is a public occasion, and maintaining some distance is a good idea.
What if people start spreading rumors that Mira's boyfriend is close to the famous model Jenny... someone could die."
"Oh?" Jenny leaned closer to him and smirked, "I heard that Mira recently resumed her identity as a Sorceress, is that why you're so scared?"
"No, what I mean is, if something like that happened, Mira would definitely hesitate to kill me. But now that you're the one coming closer... then the one who will die is you."
"..." The conversation ended for the day!
These past few days, my fingers have been hurting a lot. I'll try voice-to-text, and there might be more typos than usual. Apologies in advance.
