Chapter 302: Lanchi's Daily Routine as Principal
Chapter 302: Lanchi's Daily Routine as Principal
Outside the window, the sky was a dull gray, and gentle gusts of wind blew through Protoss Royal Magic Academy from time to time, carrying with it a shower of falling leaves.
At first, there was a solitary raindrop that gently tapped on the windowsill.
Before long, the raindrops became a fine, dense string, pattering down.
In this thin curtain of rain, a canary perched on a branch began to chirp softly.
"..."
Lanchi, seated by the window, seemed to rouse from a dream, his deep emerald eyes clear and bright.
He raised his finger and gently traced the dew-covered windowpane.
The damp and chilly weather brought with it a bone-chilling cold that made one's skin feel sore.
Accompanied by the tapping of raindrops on the window, the bird outside chirped as if it wanted to confide in someone.
This office, originally vacant and now belonging to Lanchi, had wooden furnishings that exuded a sense of stability and the passage of time. Every detail, from the furniture to the decor, seemed like a meticulously crafted work of art.
Occasionally, beams of sunlight filtered through the clouds outside and streamed into the room, bathing Lanchi in a soft, golden light that lent a touch of warmth to his expression.
His swivel chair was positioned facing away from his desk, towards the window, as he enjoyed the pleasant afternoon.
"My apologies, little bird.
Though your song is sweet, I did not turn to face you."
Lanchi murmured.
The Great Lover, a renowned poet, often proclaimed him to be the kingdom's best judge of fine livestock.
In truth, he couldn't be a mentor to little animals.
Speaking of which, he realized that Shubelian hadn't summoned the Great Lover recently, and he barely felt any drain on his magical powers.
However, given Shubelian's cautious nature, it was understandable that she wouldn't casually release the Great Lover in front of others.
Typically, summoning cards couldn't be lent to others because only the owner could summon the creature. However, in the case of the Great Lover, who could summon herself, it was possible to lend her in this unique way.
Although the Great Lover sometimes didn't heed his words, she listened to Shubelian, or at least, in Shubelian's presence, she became more composed? It was perplexing.
Everyone knew she was just a little she-devil pretending to be dignified, as laughable as an old lady pretending to be a maiden—comical in a different way.
Lanchi then turned his chair back and focused on the documents on his desk.
He had almost finished the tasks that the teachers had requested his assistance with, and only a few minor matters remained.
Tomorrow, he would be leaving the school temporarily, and his next return would likely be in two weeks to a month.
A healthy school should be able to function smoothly even in the absence of the principal for a period of time.
Just like how most students rarely see the principal more than a few times during their school years.
Lanchi was immersed in perusing the documents, his attention fixed on every word.
Before long, a clear and rhythmic knock on the door suddenly interrupted the quiet afternoon, echoing through the antique office space.
Lanchi slowly lifted his head, his gaze shifting towards the door, and in a steady voice, he said, "Come in."
As the aged brass handle on the door turned, the heavy wooden door trembled slightly and was pushed open. A handsome figure with eyes that always seemed a bit sleepy stepped into the room.
"Professor Rocky, or should I say, Principal now?"
Associate Professor Cid spoke with a hint of helplessness.
Even though, in the strictest sense, Lanchi's position at Protoss Royal Magic Academy had changed from an assistant professor of history to a "senior advisor" to the school, the position of principal still didn't exist.
Often, principals rely on their status and authority to coordinate the teaching staff, but now, the teachers willingly accepted Lanchi's instructions, won over by his work capability and reform plans.
The work Lanchi did was no different from that of a principal.
"Professor Cid, you're here." Lanchi said with a smile. "If you need help with classroom discipline, I'm always happy to assist."
As the associate professor of history who had partnered with Lanchi from the start, Cid was now the teacher closest to Lanchi in the academy.
He had arranged to meet with Lanchi on Friday afternoon.
"The students have turned over a new leaf, and in the anonymous survey, they gave you a perfect score." Cid marveled.
After speaking, he stepped aside and continued, "But today, I mainly wanted to introduce you to someone."
Following Cid into the office was a female figure. She wore a tailored noble hunting outfit, and the finely braided ends of her hair rested on her shoulders. Her androgynous attire added a touch of vitality to her otherwise slightly austere appearance, and her aura was more likely to attract other girls than males.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Rocky," said the young Miss Crolysis, Duke Morotian's daughter, as she gracefully greeted Lanchi without the air of superiority of the noble students he had met before.
"Miss Crolysis, please have a seat." Lanchi gestured to the visitor's chair across from his desk with a gentle look in his eyes.
He had vaguely heard of the academy's most outstanding student. She was the daughter of Duke Morotian, the holder of the [Original Stone Slab-Undead].
The main reason Lanchi had an impression of her was because she followed the school rules. She was one of the few students in the school whom Lanchi truly recognized as exemplary.
Associate Professor Cid sat on the sofa to one side of the office, soon drooping his eyelids and looking rather listless as he hugged his arms.
He didn't plan on saying much during today's conversation, preferring to let Miss Crolysis do most of the talking with Lanchi.
"Mr. Rocky, I heard from Associate Professor Cid that you don't believe the Northern Demon King's Army Special Killing Force is real," Miss Crolysis asked outright after taking a seat.
Her deep crimson eyes shone as she looked directly at Lanchi.
"That is correct," Lanchi admitted. This was the very statement that had sparked controversy in the history classroom and was also the catalyst for Cid to recommend him to Protoss Royal Magic Academy.
"Could you please explain your reasoning to me in detail? I'd like to hear the specific reasons," Miss Crolysis requested. Unlike Cid, she was very concerned about the rationale behind Lanchi's conclusion.
"Actually, many people, including myself and Associate Professor Cid, have similar suspicions. It's like a missing piece of the puzzle. Once it can be proven, many things will be turned upside down. But we haven't been able to find any evidence, and no one believes that there is a racial disguise magic in this world that can bypass the detection of the Protoss Empire," she explained.
Although their suspicions were just inferences for now, Rocky Lochi's attitude was more certain than anyone else's.
His demeanor suggested that he naturally believed those panic-inducing individuals weren't demons.
