Chapter 302: A Professional Lecture
Chapter 302: A Professional Lecture
A god had descended.
The Serpent God let out a sharp roar, spewing chaos from its gaping maw. Like a black deluge, the onslaught engulfed the heavens and the earth, tearing through space in its path.
But it was to no avail.
The apocalyptic assault collided with sacred flames. The golden radiance, like the dawn's first light, effortlessly dissolved the darkness, tearing through the night and scattering it in an instant.
Then, the Sun God opened its mouth, its golden body resembling a blazing phoenix. The shining flames whirled within, ready to be unleashed.
"Divine Majesty Flame Cannon!"
The flame cannon, like a fiery meteor, pierced through the darkness. Light and darkness briefly intertwined, but the latter was quickly suppressed. The cannon bored through the Serpent God's massive body, as if piercing through the very heart of the night when viewed from the ground.
The serpentine body soon ignited, torn from the chaotic flood and falling from the night sky. It was completely incinerated in mid-air, reduced to nothingness.
After delivering this devastating blow, the Winged Dragon of Ra soared, emitting a high-pitched, keen cry. It spiraled upward, breaking through the sky like a meteor and also dissipating into flames.
You Xuan watched the direction in which the Illusion God had vanished, furrowing his brow. "That was..."
"'Ra's Winged Dragon, avatar of Ra, the Sun God, the strongest of the Egyptian Gods. But not quite,'" the Chaos Warrior whispered.
"I suppose it's similar to the state of that Serpent God," You Xuan mused.
You Xuan nodded in agreement.
Indeed.
The Divine God's card hadn't appeared, and without a card as a medium, even the most powerful spirit would be unable to exert its true strength. What they had just witnessed was likely only a residual image of its power.
Through this derivative of the Millennium Puzzle, a vestige of the Illusion God's power had been sealed, designed for emergencies such as this. Only an artifact left by the Pharaoh King could possibly possess the authority to command the Illusion Gods.
Although he might not be able to harness its power yet, this miniature puzzle was undoubtedly an extraordinary artifact. Should he ever be fortunate enough to obtain a Winged Dragon of Ra card in the future, this artifact could prove to be of great assistance.
Even if he couldn't directly control it, it could still serve as a commanding flag. Perhaps the three Divine God brothers would view this artifact as the Pharaoh King's personally signed "proof of diplomatic envoy"?
The battle between the gods seemed to shake the heavens and the earth, but it lasted only a moment. In the blink of an eye, the entire valley was left with only You Xuan standing.
All the followers were instantly wiped out. Even more amusing was the fact that they hadn't fallen to the enemy's Phantom God, but had been devoured by their own Serpent God.
Feeling sorry for these followers who had chosen the wrong side, You Xuan could only shake his head and sadly inherit their collective will—through their card decks.
Don't underestimate this seemingly simple task. The Serpent God had instantly defeated so many of its own followers, and going through each and every card deck would be exhausting. It would even take more than one trip to bring them all back.
Last but not least, there was the unexpected gain of encountering spirits along the way.
After finishing his task, You Xuan once again pulled out the card of the Evil Emperor, Gaius. The black mist drifted out once more, taking on the form of the Evil Emperor.
However, this time, the Evil Emperor was more subdued than during his previous appearance, and his expression held a hint of strangeness.
"Now I have some free time," You Xuan said. "We didn't finish our conversation earlier. Where were we?"
You Xuan scratched his head. "I think you were saying something about me defeating your duelist and having quite a bold streak, if I recall correctly?"
The Evil Emperor shook his head repeatedly.
"No, you misunderstood."
"Oh? Was I mistaken?" You Xuan tilted his head, "Because it sounded like you two had a good relationship, and you wanted to avenge him?"
"Hah! A joke," the Evil Emperor scoffed.
"I was also captured by that serpent god of Orichalcum, and had no choice but to submit to its rule. I've long despised that disgusting soft-bodied creature. Now that I've finally met a wise and virtuous lord, please allow me to pledge my loyalty and join the ranks to vanquish that evil god and restore order to all realms!" The Evil Emperor declared resolutely.
You Xuan contemplated the iron-willed Evil Emperor.
"Even if you claim to uphold justice and vanquish the evil god, you must be aware that your card name is the 'Evil' Emperor, right?" You Xuan mused.
"Never mind the details. What's important is that my collection of 'Emperor' cards is almost complete. This trip yielded one of the strongest monarchs, and it's even a divine beast. All in all, it's a cause for celebration."
If there was one slight imperfection, it was that the Emperor was an Evil Emperor. Given a choice, You Xuan would have preferred the Wind Emperor. But he couldn't be too greedy.
"Oh well, the Evil Emperor will do just fine."
Thus, the Evil Emperor, having pledged his loyalty, quickly straightened his attitude and retreated back into his card.
Of course, his attitude had to be impeccable. During their previous duel, he had sensed that You Xuan was no ordinary duelist, and the power displayed was likely just the tip of the iceberg. But even so, the truth far exceeded his expectations.
The Sun God! The Winged Dragon of Ra!
These were beings that stood at the pinnacle of all realms in Duel Monsters, and with a single breath of divine fire, they turned Orichalcum's serpent god into ashes.
In comparison, he, the Evil Emperor, was but a speck of dust.
And so, Gaius swiftly acknowledged his place in the pecking order. However, he didn't seem to realize that the Winged Dragon of Ra, in the strictest sense, was not summoned by You Xuan, nor did it heed his command to engage in battle.
Nonetheless, the gains from this trip were substantial—visibly so. You Xuan returned to the real world with a new item, a new divine beast, and a dozen new card decks.
Although he might have to apologize to Kaiba, the so-called "Seal of the Spirits" that the divine beasts spoke of had ultimately fallen into his, You Xuan's, hands.
He didn't feel it while wandering in the Spirit World, but upon his return, You Xuan felt mentally exhausted. As his consciousness returned to his dorm room, he felt a pressing need to rest.
So, he took a nap, and after waking up refreshed, he took a invigorating shower. Then, he headed to the cafeteria to grab some food to satiate his hunger.
Playing cards indeed taxed one's mental and physical energy, and upon his return, he devoured three large bowls of food in one go.
With his belly full, he casually left the dorm to take a stroll around the campus to aid digestion. As he walked, he casually checked his student terminal and noticed an unread message from Kippei, reminding him to register for the Duelist City tournament.
Although he was a candidate hand-picked by Kaiba to participate, it seemed that the registration process couldn't be skipped.
Thinking that he had some free time now, he decided to go ahead and complete the registration. Suddenly, he heard the sound of hurried footsteps approaching from behind.
You Xuan turned to see Judai and his two inseparable roommates.
Although it was already the holidays, the ship that ferried students to and from the island wouldn't arrive until tomorrow, so most students were still on campus.
"Oh, it's you, You Xuan," Judai said as they briefly paused in their tracks.
"Where are you rushing off to?" You Xuan asked casually.
"Haven't you heard? It's a professional duelist! A real pro!" Judai exclaimed.
"Huh?"
"There's a professional duelist giving a lecture at the academy!"
Judai was brimming with excitement as he grabbed You Xuan's hand and pulled him onto the moving vehicle.
"Come on, let's go together!"
