Chapter 30: The Strength of the First Tier
Chapter 30: The Strength of the First Tier
Another busy day had passed, and it was already the 11th day since Qin Muye arrived in this magic continent.
He opened the leaderboard to check his territory's overall strength, which was still at the 1st Tier Elite level, not reaching the 1st Tier Champion. However, his ranking had improved significantly, moving from 267th to 203rd, thanks to the 200 Bloodthirsty Goblins and all the Mana Goblins being fully equipped.
This showed that the Lords ahead of him were incredibly powerful.
Especially in the speed rankings for the monster siege, the top three were still the True Dragon Emperor, the Demon Subduer, and the Fallen Noble. Qin Muye had no idea how these people could achieve such terrifying monster-killing speeds.
What did 0.1 seconds even mean? He couldn't blink that fast.
As for his ranking on the speed leaderboard, he didn't even make the list. Unlike the general leaderboard, which recorded all the Lords, the speed leaderboard only listed the top ten, with the 10th place having an average speed of 43 seconds.
"Many more people have died. If this keeps up, I'll be at the bottom soon." Qin Muye was somewhat helpless. After three waves of monster sieges, only 371 Lords remained. The fourth wave today would definitely be even harder, and it might reduce the number of Lords to just 300.
This was just one event, and they hadn't even truly interacted with the native system of this magic continent yet.
Qin Muye suspected this was a survival of the fittest game, otherwise, it wouldn't be so brutal.
"The strong get stronger, and the weak get weaker."
The stronger a Lord's overall strength, the stronger the monsters they faced during the siege, and the better the rewards for killing them. The rewards for 3rd Tier monsters were entirely different from those for 1st Tier monsters.
Now, the top ten on the leaderboard, after three waves of monster sieges, had reached 3rd Tier overall strength. In particular, the True Dragon Emperor, who was in first place, had already achieved 3rd Tier Elite status.
From this, Qin Muye deduced that the True Dragon Emperor must be at least level 30 and have a 3rd Tier territory, otherwise, it would be impossible to reach 3rd Tier status.
The territory was the key to overall evaluation. He wanted to upgrade too, but he didn't have the means. His territory was so small and weak that even upgrading to 2nd Tier was out of the question, let alone surviving the upcoming monster siege as a 1st Tier Champion.
Who knew how much the difficulty would increase?
"I suspect these people are cheating, or maybe the difference in territories is really that significant."
Qin Muye knew that his Mage Tower territory couldn't compare to those top-ranking Lords. There might be some balance initially, but he had found a way to break through, and so could others. He wasn't the smartest person, and neither were they.
Everyone had their own opportunities, and rising to prominence was a normal thing. He couldn't assume that just because he couldn't do something, others couldn't either.
"The damaged Mage Tower has a mana pool, but it's dry and needs repair. I wonder what the Saint Dragon's Nest and the Sinful Temple have. They must have something good." It was impossible not to be envious; a small step ahead could lead to a significant advantage.
Qin Muye's slow start had led to a slow progression. If he hadn't broken through, he would likely have ended up like those Lords who disappeared from the leaderboard.
"I need to find a way to repair the mana pool. Other resources are manageable, but where can I locate the four elemental cores—earth, water, fire, and wind? They're not accessible in the Jifen Shop or the market, and acquiring the necessary resources from the surroundings is challenging. It's quite a dilemma."
From the description, the mana pool was a core building of the Mage Tower.
The top-ranked Blessed Lords probably had them or knew how to obtain them, but they might not be willing to share the information.
Moreover, he had no means of communication, and even if someone was willing to trade, there would be no way to do so.
And he didn't have the money to buy them.
These elemental cores were undoubtedly rare.
"I'll have to wait for Morick to return and ask him, but he's not entirely trustworthy. Who knows if he might suddenly attack."
Qin Muye was cautious with everyone, especially those stronger than him.
Traders could turn into bandits, and his territory was isolated and a Blessed Lord. If someone decided to rob and kill him, no one would know, and even if they did, it would be swept under the rug.
"In summary, one must be strong to survive."
"Once the 400 Mana Goblins are all converted to Bloodthirsty Goblins, I should have enough strength to protect myself."
Well, even then, they would still be 1st Tier units. Even after modifications and training, they would only be on par with 2nd Tier units, not true 2nd Tier units.
He needed more time and knowledge to advance the Mana Goblins further.
Now that he had Bloodthirsty Goblins, he had obtained a lot of 1st Tier peak data. With further refinement, he could turn the Mana Goblins into 2nd Tier units.
Qin Muye didn't plan to convert all the Mana Goblins into Bloodthirsty Goblins. He still intended to use the Mana Goblins as the base sample because, while their attributes were inferior to the Bloodthirsty Goblins, their flexibility, potential, and versatility far exceeded those of the Bloodthirsty Goblins.
He estimated that maintaining around 1,000 Bloodthirsty Goblins, led by a Blood Commander, would be sufficient.
Moreover, the Bloodthirsty Goblins were a sub-species derived from the Blood Goblins, still falling under the Blood Goblins category.
Just like Skeleton Archers and Skeleton Warriors, though their names changed, they were still 1st Tier Skeleton units.
So, once Qin Muye upgraded the Mana Goblins to 2nd Tier, he could also upgrade the Bloodthirsty Goblins to 2nd Tier, saving a lot of resources.
"Once this wave of the monster siege is over, I'll upgrade the Mage Tower to 2nd Tier. Then I can enhance the Goblins, though it might only be a small improvement."
Qin Muye's "Goblin Experiment Manual" and "Advanced Goblin Experiment Manual" were decent, but they required a 2nd Tier territory.
As long as he survived this time, reaching level 10 would be easy.
However, he didn't understand the experience gain system.
Just as he was thinking, the time for today's monster siege arrived. As the clock reset, Qin Muye saw the notification and inwardly cursed.
"Damn, a hero unit!"

Qin Muye was also somewhat troubled.
