Chapter 3: The Boy with Eight-Pack Abs
Chapter 3: The Boy with Eight-Pack Abs
The next day, Jerry woke up early, knowing that Professor Mcgonagall was coming for a home visit.
After receiving the Hogwarts acceptance letter yesterday, he had toured the entire orphanage.
According to the information in his mind, this orphanage, named Edward's Orphanage, was established twenty years ago by a businessman named Edward before his death.
The original intention was to help the unfortunate orphans who had been abandoned for various reasons.
Unfortunately, after the old man's death, things changed a bit.
However, it wasn't too bad. The orphans' food and various treatments were just reduced, and the orphanage staff were not as kind and friendly as before.
Jerry thought this was quite normal. In this era, it was already quite good that places like orphanages did not have cases of child abuse.
After all, some orphanages, while officially called orphanages, were actually illegal institutions behind closed doors.
As the saying goes, "All under heaven are bustling for profit, all under heaven are hustling for gain!"
Apart from great saints, no one is absolutely selfless.
He himself was no different. He would only do thankless tasks if there was a certain benefit involved.
Previously, he had always tried to be a good person and actively help others, but his initial motivation was simply to earn Little Red Stars.
Without the Little Red Stars, he probably wouldn't have gone out of his way to help strangers he didn't know.
When he was in school, if he saw someone fall on the road, he would help them up. After working for a few years, if he saw someone fall, he would choose to walk around them.
After all, the cost of helping could be a year's hard-earned salary.
However, in this new life, the good deeds he did to earn Little Red Stars did have some impact on him.
He discovered that when he received genuine gratitude from others, it did make him feel a certain sense of happiness, although he was reluctant to admit it.
After finishing a simple breakfast, Jerry went to the large courtyard in front of the orphanage.
He remembered that Professor Mcgonagall was an Animagus who liked to transform into a tabby cat when she ventured into the Muggle world. So, he stood by the front gate, hoping to witness the magical sight of a cat turning into a person.
Half an hour later, Jerry, hiding in a corner and observing the walls for any signs of a cat, frowned and looked towards the right side of the courtyard.
There, three teenagers, around fourteen years old, were laughing heartily as they pushed an eight or nine-year-old boy to the ground and continued to mock him.
From his memories, Jerry knew that these three fourteen-year-olds were the oldest children in the orphanage and enjoyed using their strength to bully the younger orphans.
If any orphan refused to listen to them, they would likely face long-term bullying and even physical abuse.
So, the children in the orphanage were all very afraid of these three teenagers. When they saw the young boy being pushed and mocked, none of them dared to intervene.
In the past, some victims had reported this to the orphanage staff, but the staff didn't take it seriously. They only gave the three boys a verbal warning, and the one who reported them ended up facing prolonged retaliation from the three.
For the orphanage staff, as long as the orphans weren't seriously injured, they generally wouldn't intervene. To them, fights between children weren't a big deal.
As for the boy who was being beaten now, he had only recently transferred to the orphanage, which was why these three boys had targeted him.
After some thought, Jerry didn't step forward. He felt that even if he helped the boy now, once he left the orphanage for Hogwarts, the boy would still be bullied.
Besides, there was no real benefit to it. If a fight broke out and Professor Mcgonagall saw, it might leave a bad impression.
However, when he heard the three boys' arrogant laughter and the stubborn boy being surrounded, about to take a beating, he sighed and stood up.
"I'm not being soft-hearted; I just want to test if doing good deeds in this world can earn me Little Red Stars. Yes, this is just a necessary experiment!"
Muttering to himself, Jerry quickly stepped forward and shouted:
"Stop it!"
At Jerry's command, the three boys stopped involuntarily and turned to look at him, their expressions surprised.
They hadn't expected any of the orphanage children to dare shout at them, especially someone as quiet and reserved as Jerry.
"Looks like you want the same treatment as the new kid?"
The three boys temporarily left the boy, whose eyes were already brimming with tears, and approached Jerry with malicious intent.
They could understand a new arrival being disobedient, but for someone like Jerry, who had been at the orphanage for five or six years, to dare resist them, that called for a severe punishment.
Otherwise, how could they maintain their authority over the other orphans?
"We're all orphans, and life isn't easy for any of us. Why do you have to do this?"
Looking up at the three boys, who were all a head taller than him, Jerry tried to keep his voice calm.
Children who grew up in orphanages, with a few exceptions, often had psychological issues.
Those who felt inferior weren't too much of a problem, but it was the ones who felt inferior and sought to gain a sense of achievement by bullying and abusing those weaker than themselves that were truly concerning.
"You're wrong. In my eyes, you're all just trash. Making me happy is your greatest purpose!"
The tallest and fattest of the three boys looked around and then gave a mocking smile.
"Although I don't really enjoy bullying kids, if I don't teach you a lesson, there might be more trouble in the future!"
At this point, Jerry realized that he still had a month to go before school started. With these three boys' personalities, even if nothing happened today, a conflict was inevitable at some point.
Since that was the case, it would be better to teach them a lesson now and save himself some trouble in the future.
Shaking his head, Jerry casually took off his jacket and T-shirt, placing them on a nearby table, revealing a lean but well-built body.
Despite being only eleven years old and not quite reaching 1.4 meters in height, Jerry's muscles were very solid.
They weren't the large, bulky muscles of a fitness enthusiast but small, wiry muscle groups that looked like steel cables.
This made him appear somewhat thin when clothed, but once he took his clothes off, he looked like a completely different person.
