Chapter 3: Teacher Mu Yue is a Good Person
Chapter 3: Teacher Mu Yue is a Good Person
Upon returning home, Mu Yue made her way to the bathroom and stuck out her tongue at the mirror.
As expected, there was a black curse seal on her tongue—the infamous Tongue Disaster Root Annihilation Seal, a mandatory mark for every member of the Root Organization.
If Mu Yue recalled correctly, the effect of this curse seal was to paralyze the entire body if one spoke anything related to specific matters.
Danzo's configuration of the curse seal naturally pertained to information about him and the Root Organization. This way, even if a member was captured or defected, they couldn't divulge any secrets.
If that was all there was to it, Mu Yue wouldn't have minded. She had no intentions of leaking the Root's information anyway. However, she feared that Danzo could activate this curse seal at will, which would essentially give him control over a fatal weakness.
Mu Yue pondered, trying to recall any method from the original story to break this Tongue Disaster Root Annihilation Seal.
"It seems the only way is for Danzo to die," she muttered.
But no matter how hard she racked her brains, she couldn't remember anyone in the story who had successfully broken this curse seal. Perhaps the Third Hokage would order its removal for those he chose to release from the Root, but other than that, the seal would only become inactive if Danzo died.
However, Danzo wasn't some squishy AD carry in a MOBA game who would conveniently die on his own during a team fight even if you ignored him.
That old fox was notoriously cautious and valued his life dearly. He usually holed up in the Root's base and might even have a revival coin on him—he was a real pain to deal with.
Considering her current strength, Mu Yue temporarily abandoned the idea of killing Danzo.
"My only options are to either seek Orochimaru's help or research it myself," she concluded, realizing the limitations of her choices.
In reality, it was only one choice, as the Orochimaru route wasn't feasible at the moment.
Mu Yue glanced at the time and, sensing that it was about right, activated her Perception Ninjutsu. As expected, she perceived Kakashi drawing closer.
Stepping out of the house and into the courtyard, Mu Yue mused that Danzo seemed to trust the original owner of her body quite a bit. She had cast her Perception Ninjutsu multiple times and hadn't detected any Root ninja spying on her.
Just as Kakashi was about to enter the courtyard, Mu Yue quickly formed the necessary hand seals, channeled her chakra, and created an eight-meter-high giant fireball with a burst of her full power. In an instant, the training log in the courtyard turned to ashes, and a large area of the ground became scorched.
Kakashi, who had just stepped in, witnessed this stunning display and was shocked by Mu Yue's proficiency in Fire Release ninjutsu.
Although the Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique was only a C-rank ninjutsu, the ranking merely indicated the difficulty of mastering the technique. Many Uchiha jonin favored using this technique.
However, Kakashi was certain that even the jonin in his clan wouldn't be able to match this display of power, as they wouldn't be able to convert such a large amount of chakra into fire in such a short time.
"Teacher Mu Yue, I apologize for disturbing your training," Kakashi quickly apologized as he snapped out of his daze.
"It's no trouble. I was just about to finish anyway," Mu Yue replied with a long exhale, smiling as she invited Kakashi into the room.
"Actually, the reason the Uchiha clan ended up like this has a lot to do with your clan's former leader, Uchiha Madara," Mu Yue said as she poured two cups of water, handing one to Kakashi and taking a sip from the other. She then began to recount the story of the Uchiha clan.
"You should know that Uchiha Madara defected, right?" she asked.
Kakashi nodded. "The clan's history states that the leader left Konoha."
"If he had merely left, things wouldn't have turned out this way," Mu Yue said, explaining to Kakashi that if it weren't for Hashirama's strength, Konoha might have been destroyed by Uchiha Madara.
Kakashi fell silent.
But Mu Yue continued, telling him that the story didn't end there.
This incident had caused the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, who already had his reservations about the Uchiha clan, to become even more wary of them. So, when he became the Hokage, he implemented several policies specifically targeting the Uchiha clan.
These policies, in turn, stirred dissatisfaction among the Uchiha clan's hardliners, leading them to contemplate a coup d'etat. However, their plans were discovered by the Anbu, and they were imprisoned.
This series of events ultimately caused the Uchiha clan's negative reputation to overshadow their past contributions, making them disliked by the villagers.
"So many things happened behind the scenes..." Kakashi murmured, realizing that he had vastly underestimated the complexity of the situation.
"Actually, there were Uchiha clan members who tried to change this situation, and Uchiha Kagami was the most successful among them," Mu Yue said, steering the topic toward Uchiha Kagami.
"Then, Teacher Mu Yue, what kind of person do you think Uchiha Kagami was?" Kakashi asked, suddenly curious about how his grandfather was perceived by Mu Yue.
He had never met his grandfather but had heard a lot about him from other clan members—about his strength and his status as a genius ninja.
"He was an Uchiha who embodied the Will of Fire," Mu Yue replied after a moment's thought. "He acted as a bridge between the Uchiha clan and Konoha, easing the tensions between the two sides."
Although Mu Yue's words were devoid of excessive praise, Kakashi felt that this was the best and most fitting evaluation he had ever heard.
"I want to become a Uchiha like my grandfather!" Kakashi declared, his eyes shining with determination, unaware that he had directly referred to Kagami as his grandfather.
"Teacher Yu Sheng, you don't need to worry too much about gratitude. If you have time, pay your respects at my grandfather's grave. I think he would be very happy about that," Itachi said.
"How can I not repay the debt of saving my parents? How about this, Itachi, are you willing to become my disciple?" Mu Yue asked.
Itachi understood Mu Yue's intention, but he felt that this would be taking advantage of her kindness.
However, he didn't want to make things difficult for Mu Yue, who was a grateful and virtuous person. Additionally, Itachi thought that becoming a disciple of a knowledgeable and powerful teacher like Mu Yue was indeed a good idea. Finally, he nodded and called out, "Teacher Mu Yue."
[Do you want to establish a master-disciple relationship with Uchiha Itachi?]
The system prompt immediately appeared, and Mu Yue chose 'Yes' without hesitation. After all, Itachi was a genius disciple he had finally managed to convince.
[Relationship successfully established. Current trust level is 2. Unlocked: "Disciple's Cultivation Returns to Teacher" and "Gift Returns to Teacher."]
Mu Yue took a quick glance at the introduction and was thrilled. 'Disciple's Cultivation Returns to Teacher' meant that as his disciple grew stronger, he would also become stronger. The higher the trust level, the greater the feedback. At trust level 2, it would be a twofold return, so if Itachi increased his chakra by one point, he would gain two!
As for 'Gift Returns to Teacher,' if he gave something to Itachi, the system would randomly give him a reward. The higher the trust level, the better the reward, and it could be used once a day.
Mu Yue thought for a moment and took out a small booklet, offering it to Itachi.
It was the Fire Attribute Chakra Nature Alteration Cultivation Handbook he had written that afternoon. He had originally planned to find a suitable opportunity to give it to Itachi to increase their goodwill, but now he wanted to test the 'Gift Returns to Teacher' function.
"This is the Fire Attribute Chakra Nature Alteration Cultivation Handbook I compiled myself. Take it back and have a look. I will regularly check your cultivation results. As a teacher, I am very strict and will not lower my standards because of gratitude," Mu Yue said solemnly.
If Itachi became stronger, he would benefit twice as much, so Mu Yue felt that he should supervise Itachi's cultivation diligently.
"Thank you, Teacher Mu Yue. I will cultivate diligently," Itachi said sincerely as he accepted the booklet from Mu Yue.
Regarding Mu Yue's mention of strict standards, Itachi didn't think it was a problem. Instead, it proved that Mu Yue truly considered him a disciple and not merely reciprocating his grandfather's kindness.
[You have given your disciple a Nature Alteration Cultivation Handbook, and your disciple is deeply grateful. Due to the gratitude bonus, you have obtained the Ninjutsu Fire Style: Great Dragon Fire Technique (Proficiency).]
As Mu Yue received the reward, his mind was filled with a flood of memories of him cultivating the Great Dragon Fire Technique countless times, as if he had already mastered this ninjutsu.
The Great Dragon Fire Technique was a B-rank Fire Style ninjutsu. Unlike the Fireball Jutsu, which focused on area-of-effect, the Great Dragon Fire Technique emphasized flexibility and control. It allowed the user to freely manipulate fire dragons to attack the enemy. Once mastered, the number of hand seals could be reduced to one, and multiple fire dragons could be released simultaneously.
Since the system provided him with direct proficiency, Mu Yue could now instantly release three fire dragons with just a single hand seal.
The look in Mu Yue's eyes as he gazed at Itachi was no longer that of looking at a person, but rather a bottomless gold mine, one that could shower him with rewards daily.
Noticing that the sky outside was gradually darkening, Mu Yue said, "It's getting late. I'll send you home so that your family won't worry."
"Thank you, Teacher. I can walk home by myself. I'm the only one at home anyway," Itachi said, waving his hand.
He felt that he had already troubled Mu Yue a lot today and didn't want to waste any more of his teacher's time.
Hearing Itachi's words, Mu Yue recalled that Itachi's parents had never appeared, presumably having passed away not long after his birth.
He then realized that neither of them, teacher and disciple, had any parents. What a peculiar coincidence.
"But my uncle often comes to take care of me," Itachi added, seeing Mu Yue's concerned expression.
Mu Yue nodded, not insisting on sending Itachi home. After all, today was just the first day they had met, and there would be plenty of opportunities to increase their goodwill in the future.
On his way home, Itachi flipped through the cultivation handbook Mu Yue had given him and recalled the Fire Style ninjutsu he had witnessed in the courtyard. He felt a growing curiosity about his new teacher.
As a famous child prodigy of the Uchiha clan and the grandson of Uchiha Kagami, Itachi had come into contact with many powerful Uchiha ninjas, and his horizons far exceeded those of his peers.
He felt that Mu Yue's strength shouldn't be that of a mere Chunin. It was strange for such a powerful ninja to be teaching at the Ninja Academy. After all, the academy didn't require instructors with such high skill levels, as the ninjutsu they taught were basic, like the Transformation Technique.
As Mu Yue watched Itachi walk away, his anticipation for tomorrow grew.
He had classes in the morning and afternoon the next day, and he wondered what rewards he would receive.
Moreover, the afternoon class was for Might Guy, Kakashi, and their team. He wondered what level of potential they would exhibit.
