Chapter 3: Gao Yaxin
Chapter 3: Gao Yaxin
Wavey Master Gao stood in the lobby of the three-story building.
She turned to Li Qian and asked with a slight smile, "Are you Sister Han's son?"
"Greetings, Master Gao. I'm Li Qian, a senior student at Ling Shui Beast Taming High School."
Li Qian spoke with a calm and respectful tone, "I aspire to become a Breeder in the future."
He didn't waste time and directly stated the purpose of his visit to the breeding base. "Recently, I've been pondering the evolution of Carps, but I've hit a roadblock. I believe my current knowledge and abilities are insufficient, so I came here hoping for your guidance, Master Gao."
"Pondering the evolution of Carps..."
Upon hearing Li Qian's words, a hint of surprise flashed across Wavey's elegant face, followed by a thoughtful expression.
Seemingly wanting to test Li Qian, Wavey continued, "So, what have you come up with?"
"I've studied numerous documents and literature about Carps and Green Scaled Dragons, and I've also consulted with my breeding class teachers."
Li Qian spoke with a serious tone, "I can't say I've made any groundbreaking discoveries, but I do have some thoughts. First, I believe there's a definite and fixed evolution path between Carps and Green Scaled Dragons, but the conditions are quite strict and obscure."
"Like most speculations, I also think that the evolution of Carps is closely tied to their racial skill, the Fish Leap."
Li Qian looked at Wavey, his expression solemn and earnest. "I suspect that the requirement involves the Carp's racial skill, Fish Leap, reaching a higher level. Perhaps the conditions are even more stringent than we imagine."
"May I ask, Master Gao, is there a skill level beyond Perfection? Is there a higher skill grade?"
Through his special insight, Li Qian could confirm that there was indeed a fixed evolution path between Carps and Green Scaled Dragons. Otherwise, the research task wouldn't have been possible.
Furthermore, he was also certain that skill levels didn't stop at the highest grade.
However, he couldn't reveal this directly and had to confirm it by asking. He also wanted to understand what these higher skill grades entailed.
"Does the evolution of Carps require a skill level beyond the highest grade..."
Wavey mulled over Li Qian's words, a spark of interest flashing in her eyes. "That's quite an innovative perspective..."
"As you've guessed, skill levels don't end at the highest grade."
Wavey didn't keep him in suspense and answered his question directly. "The skill level beyond the highest grade is called 'Beyond Limit', which literally means breaking through limits. In the wild, it's almost impossible to find pets with such skills, and even among tamed pets, they are extremely rare."
"So, there is..." Li Qian muttered to himself upon hearing Wavey's response, then continued, "How does one achieve a Beyond Limit skill?"
Wavey held up three fingers, "There are three ways to attain a Beyond Limit skill, and none of them are incredibly challenging."
"First, a very small number of pets with extraordinary talents can achieve it through countless training sessions."
"Second, a tiny fraction of Beastmasters with exceptional Beastmaster Talent can help their pets attain these skills."
"Lastly, and relatively easier, is the use of a Limit-Breaking Stone."
"A Limit-Breaking Stone..."
Li Qian's eyes lit up at her mention of the stone.
"Aside from that, do you have any other speculations?" Wavey nodded and asked.
Li Qian honestly replied, "Although the carp possesses dragon blood, it is so diluted that it can be almost negligible. To trigger its evolution, one would need a potion that can stimulate the bloodline."
"Not bad at all. Just from online research and the information you've gathered, you've managed to deduce so much. Your mindset and thinking are impressive; you have the makings of a great Breeder."
She gave Li Qian an appreciative look and changed the subject, "You've just awakened, haven't you?"
"Yes!" Li Qian nodded.
"Which Beastmaster University are you planning to attend?" Wavey continued.
"Jiangnan Beastmaster University," Li Qian answered after a moment's thought.
"I hope you get into Jiangnan Beastmaster University. That way, I'll have a junior to look after." Wavey smiled.
Li Qian was momentarily surprised but quickly realized, "Master Gao, did you also graduate from Jiangnan Beastmaster University?"
"Yes, those were truly wonderful times during my student days." Wavey sighed.
"By the way, my name is Gao Yaxin. You can call me 'Sister Gao,' no need for formal titles."
It was evident that Gao Yaxin, the Intermediate Breeder, had a good impression of him.
"Okay, Sister Gao," Li Qian readily agreed.
Having lived two lives, he was well aware that connections were crucial in any society.
"Researching the carp's evolution method is a good direction, but don't get too deep into it."
Gao Yaxin advised, "This is a deep pit that many Intermediate and Advanced Breeders, even Master Breeders, have fallen into."
"For you right now, solidifying your foundation is the most important."
Gao Yaxin, speaking from experience, said, "By the way, give me your email. I'll send you some materials later."
"With your current identity, you won't have access to secret materials. In this regard, I can provide you with some help."
Gao Yaxin's suggestion was sincere, causing Li Qian to smile wryly in his heart.
He had no choice; he had already set up a Research Task and was already deep into it.
It was too late to back out now; he could only persevere.
Smiling wryly inwardly, Li Qian respectfully expressed his gratitude, "Thank you, Sister Gao."
Whether it was due to his mother, Han Yuying, or the good impression he had made, or the potential she saw in him as a future Jiangnan Beastmaster University student, Gao Yaxin's investment in him was timely. Her answers and the subsequent materials would indeed provide Li Qian with significant assistance.
Without asking any further questions, Li Qian could tell that Gao Yaxin was quite busy at the moment.
After expressing his gratitude once more, he left the three-story building.
As he departed from the breeding base, he bid farewell to his mother and headed straight for the exit.
Taking one last look at the breeding base's entrance, a faint smile curved his lips.
[Research Task: The Evolution Method of Carp]
[Current Task Progress: 80%]
Looking at the task progress on the system panel, Li Qian felt confident at that moment.
Although there was still a 20% gap in progress, he believed he was not far from deciphering the evolution method of the carp...
