Chapter 3: Cheating in the Game
Chapter 3: Cheating in the Game
The National High School Summoner League is an annual event held across the nation.
The league is divided into two parts: individual and team competitions.
The results from both portions are counted towards the College Entrance Exam credits, each carrying a weight of twenty-five percent.
Furthermore, the league accounts for seventy percent of the total exam credits.
In other words, not participating in the high school league or performing poorly in the competition is akin to a pipe dream for those aiming to enroll in Summoner University.
For Li Wu, this situation is particularly dire.
The reason lies with the Mini Skeleton.
The Mini Skeleton, inherited from his predecessor, is widely acknowledged as one of the worst Starting Summon Beasts.
Li Wu has personally witnessed its shortcomings, even struggling to walk properly.
Using such a Summon Beast in competitions would be like sending a lamb to the slaughter. What's worse, even if Li Wu is willing to 'send this lamb', he needs someone else to accept it first.
The high school league requires team registration.
Individuals or teams cannot register independently; they must have their own squad.
A squad requires a minimum of three official members.
In other words, Li Wu's chances of participating in the league are slim without three members.
Gathering three people seems easy; just recruit two more.
But this matter isn't as simple as it sounds.
It concerns the College Entrance Exam and their future; no one can afford to be careless.
After Li Wu summoned the Mini Skeleton, his childhood friend, who had promised to guide them through the league, immediately abandoned them.
Even a friend with over a decade of friendship acted this way; how could anyone else possibly agree to guide someone with a Mini Skeleton as their Summon Beast?
Putting himself in their shoes, Li Wu wouldn't dare guarantee that he would accept if asked to bring Plumpie to the league.
There's no other way; the high school league is of utmost importance to them!
Thus, Li Wu's current situation can be described as extremely challenging.
However, unlike his predecessor, he isn't at the point of despair. Not because he has a stronger mental capacity, but because he possesses something his predecessor didn't—a Golden Finger.
"I hope this thing can bring me some help!" Li Wu muttered, gazing at the scenery outside the window, his face involuntarily expressing anticipation.
Title: Mini Skeleton
Strength: 0-Star (Ordinary)
Quality: Ordinary (Inferior) [Enhanceable]
Attribute: Necromantic
Status: Shaky (Handle with care, don't apply too much force or it might fall apart.)
Skills: None
Weaknesses: Light, Fire, Thunder
Description: Well, congratulations! You're lucky, as there isn't a worse starting summon beast than this.
...
This is Li Wu, who has awakened to a golden finger upon his arrival in this world.
With just a touch of his hand on a summon beast, he can perceive its attributes.
But this golden finger, Li Wu has been studying ever since he acquired it, and so far, he hasn't figured out its use.
There's an 'Enhance' button behind the Quality attribute, but it's completely grayed out and unusable.
"It seems like meeting certain conditions is required to enhance the quality of the summon beast.
But what are these conditions? Killing monsters or gaining experience, perhaps?"
Li Wu's mind was in a bit of pain.
After much fussing, he found himself more agitated and irritable.
"Damn it! If this is a golden finger, can't it be more straightforward and simple? If you keep making things so vague, I'll report you!"
Li Wu didn't realize that his emotional control had diminished since his arrival. He was prone to losing his temper, influenced by his predecessor.
This was quite normal, given that Li Wu had inherited all of his predecessor's memories. It was natural to be affected by the surge of over a decade's worth of memories.
Fortunately, Li Wu was resilient and could maintain his sense of self. His emotional regulation was still functioning adequately.
Soon, he managed to dispel his agitation and calm himself down to study the golden finger before him.
"Since there's an enhancement function, there must be triggering conditions.
It's not explicitly stated, so I'll have to figure it out myself.
I can only guess a few possibilities: killing monsters, gaining experience, recharging energy, or something else entirely.
Getting angry here won't help, so I'll try the methods I can think of."
Li Wu began to brainstorm and list the methods he could experiment with.
First, killing monsters was definitely out of the question, as neither he nor his mini skeleton had the capability for such a task.
Next, he considered the energy recharge method.
With his current resources, the only energy he could obtain was electricity. But would he use it on the skeleton or himself? Li Wu pondered and decided against it. Whether it was for the skeleton or himself, it could be dangerous. One wrong move might end in disaster.
If the skeleton were to 'die', it would affect Li Wu's mental state, potentially causing trauma. Without proper medical care, such trauma could be enough to deter a novice summoner like Li Wu from continuing on this path.
So, using electricity on the skeleton or himself was not an option.
In this situation, Li Wu narrowed his eyes, "In that case, I can only try this method first!"
