Chapter 299: Wings of Thunder
Chapter 299: Wings of Thunder
A few hours later, Naoki finally breathed a sigh of relief as he finished chopping all the firewood. He set down his axe and returned to his bedroom for a refreshing shower.
At that moment, he felt incredibly relaxed and invigorated.
"Looks like the upgraded Muttonberry Juice is indeed too potent for the average person!"
Its effects were outrageously potent, but one had to admit that it was indeed an excellent tonic for humans.
After calming down, Naoki began to ponder if he had been too impulsive earlier.
He had gulped down an entire bottle of the juice in one go.
What if he had only drunk a small portion, just enough to satisfy his body's needs without overflowing? Would that have prevented that embarrassing situation?
Subsequently, he could have digested the nutrients through exercises like running.
Combining the two methods, drinking the juice while exercising, would, in the long run, make his body even healthier and stronger, leading to a long life.
As he was deep in thought, a young girl's voice suddenly sounded from outside.
Naoki walked out of the house and saw a short-haired girl in Grape Academy's uniform, with a backpack slung over her shoulders, standing outside the ranch.
Her eyes lit up when she saw him, and she quickly asked, "Um... hello! I'm a student from Grape Academy, and I was wondering if you could tell me which way to go to reach the Shrine of Bounty?"
A trainer heading to the Shrine of Bounty? It seems the news report had the intended effect! People were already drawn to the legend of the Lorelei King.
Naoki pointed in the direction of the back mountain, "Go straight down this path until you reach the end, and you'll see the mountain path leading to the shrine."
The girl put her hands together and thanked him gratefully, "Thank you so much!"
With that, she turned and ran off in the direction he had indicated.
Naoki watched her retreating figure thoughtfully.
Obviously, this girl wasn't the first, nor would she be the last, trainer drawn to explore the Lorelei King legend.
It was time to officially put into motion the Thunder and Storm Trials he had contemplated earlier.
With that in mind, Naoki immediately called over Babo the Diglett and Pidgeot.
"Do you remember the Thunder and Storm Trials I mentioned before?"
"Babo!"
"Pidgeot!"
The two Pokemon nodded eagerly, recalling how Naoki had told them that these trials would help them become stronger and more formidable.
"Very good. Now, let's recap the trials," Naoki said, turning to Pidgeot.
Pidgeot blinked, anticipation clear in her eyes, "Pidgeot?"
"Your trial is called the Storm Trial," Naoki explained. "As the name suggests, use your most powerful Storm Secret Art to unleash a storm that will sweep away your opponent."
"Start with Rain Dance and then Hurricane. In between, you can use other moves depending on the situation, such as Thunder, Thunderbolt, or Dragon Rage."
"However, keep in mind that our ultimate goal is not to defeat the opponent but to gain experience. Treat the Pokemon you battle against as sparring partners. Experiment with the moves you've mastered on them, learn from the actual battles, and thus achieve the effect of special training. Do you understand?"
"Pidgeot!" Pidgeot nodded excitedly, eager to try out her newfound strength.
Ever since she had eaten that piece of steamed bread, she felt she had grown stronger, but she hadn't had a chance to test her powers in a battle.
And now, Naoki was saying that challengers would be arriving soon. Did this mean she would finally get to battle and showcase her improved abilities? Pidgeot was thrilled and eager.
She flapped her wings, and immediately a gust of wind stirred up the surroundings.
Naoki was surprised at this display.
It seemed Pidgeot's compatibility with the Storm Bread was even higher than he had anticipated!
Next, it was Babo's turn.
Naoki turned to the Diglett, who was holding the Thunder Hammer.
Before Naoki could say anything, Babo swung the hammer with enthusiasm.
It wanted to become stronger, a formidable Pokemon, using its power to fight evil and uphold justice, just like the Pokemon named Thor, a true superhero!
Naoki: "...Looks like I don't need to say more. You've already mastered the use of the hammer."
"Ba Bo!" Babo the Diglett exclaimed happily.
"Excellent," Naoki thought to himself.
With all preparations in place, all that was left was to await the arrival of challengers to the ranch.
League Calendar Year 199, February 6th.
On this morning, Naoki received a letter from the Elief Peach Garden.
The letter informed him that the Sakura Blossom Wine Party would be held soon and invited him to attend with his Pokemon.
The Sakura Blossom Wine Party...
Naoki instantly recalled his experience at the party the previous year. Since Ai hadn't been there before, this would be a great opportunity for her and the other new members to relax and enjoy themselves.
However, plans often go awry.
That afternoon, Naoki received a call from the Zero Zone Research Institute.
Seeing Dr. Olin on the screen, Naoki was slightly taken aback and asked, "Dr. Olin, what's the matter?"
Dr. Olin looked excited as she nodded and said, "Naoki, the matter I discussed with you before can now be realized!"
"What?" Naoki was momentarily puzzled.
Dr. Olin reminded him, "You helped me take care of Piper, and we promised to find you a paradoxical Pokemon in the Giant Pit that can coexist with humans. Now, we have made a new discovery."
Hearing this, Naoki immediately reacted, "Which paradoxical Pokemon is it?"
A calm and collected Ironthorn? A fluffy Crawling Wing? Or perhaps a Santa Claus-like Iron Package?
Dr. Olin answered, "It's the paradoxical Pokemon called Zhenyifa, recorded in the book of Zhuzi! Like Gorldon, it comes from the ancient times!"
"Zhenyifa?"
Upon hearing this name, Naoki froze.
He never expected it to be this paradoxical Pokemon.
After all, according to eyewitness reports, Zhenyifa was known for its violent and belligerent nature!
"That's right," Dr. Olin nodded. She proceeded to give Naoki a detailed introduction to this unique Zhenyifa, "Not long ago, we used the time machine to summon it from the ancient times to the present world."
"At first, I thought it would immediately attack us, but surprisingly, it didn't. Instead, it hid in the shadows, secretly following us, as if observing our actions."
"Moreover, it stole and ate a large amount of food from the cafeteria warehouse. Aside from that, we made another significant discovery."
Naoki was intrigued, "Oh? What is it?"
Dr. Olin excitedly replied, "It seems particularly interested in the photo of you and Gorldon that you left behind at the Zero Zone Research Institute!"
"Because of this, Professor Fort and I came up with a bold hypothesis."
"Could this Zhenyifa be from the same time period as Gorldon, and have they met before?"
"So, I'd like to invite you and Gorldon to the Zero Zone Research Institute to have Gorldon meet this Zhenyifa and verify our guess."
"If they recognize each other, you can then bring it back to the ranch through Gorldon and have him help in capturing it."
"Don't worry about the League. I'll submit the application to Ye Ci on your behalf. All you need to do is come to the institute!"
