Chapter 297: Expansion of the Blacksmith Camp
Chapter 297: Expansion of the Blacksmith Camp
September 25, 2017
The various situations on the Yellow Turban side were all normal, and their attitude of allowing Ma Pen to scout freely within their territory indicated that they had no ill intentions.
At least, their attitude was clear, and Lu HaiKong had to accept this favor.
Currently, Lu HaiKong's focus was on the skydropped governor in Dingxiang City, who had given him a three-day deadline. Although Lu HaiKong had decided to go, he had no intention of following someone else's schedule blindly.
Soon after Ma Pen returned, Lu HaiKong sent him out with a mission, the destination being Dingxiang City. Lu HaiKong was a complex individual; by nature, he was cautious and even somewhat afraid of death. However, after more than a year in this world and the tempering of the "Mountain Splitting Axe" skill, Lu HaiKong's personality had become more resilient, confident, and even exuded a sense of dominance.
These conflicting traits, when combined, formed the current Lu HaiKong. In fact, it wasn't just him; many people had such multifaceted and contradictory personalities, making it difficult to discern any particular character traits. Unlike in novels or movies, where characters often had distinct and even sharp personalities, such individuals were a minority in real life.
Therefore, it was inevitable that Lu HaiKong would not go to Dingxiang unprepared. To do so would be akin to courting death.
While Ma Pen and Li Xiong were clearing the way for Lu HaiKong, he wasn't idle at the mountain camp. During this raid, he obtained a significant amount of loot, which needed to be properly managed.
Lu HaiKong first took the 'Gale Raider Recruitment Order', 'Bandit Swordsman Recruitment Order (Elite)', and 'Bandit Spear Fighter Recruitment Order (Elite)' to the Mountain Camp.
The Mountain Camp in Yan Huang had now reached level 15, just enough to use the 'Gale Raider Recruitment Order'. After using the three recruitment orders, the Mountain Camp immediately gained seven recruitable unit types.
Bandit (All Stats: 2), Daily Recruitment Limit: 1000, Recruitment Cost: 200 Copper per recruit.
Bandit Swordsman (Elite) (Strength: 15), Daily Recruitment Limit: 50, Recruitment Cost: 10 Gold per recruit.
Bandit Spear Fighter (Elite) (Strength: 15), Daily Recruitment Limit: 50, Recruitment Cost: 10 Gold per recruit.
Bandit Archer (Elite) (Strength: 15), Daily Recruitment Limit: 50, Recruitment Cost: 10 Gold per recruit.
Horse Bandit (Elite) (Strength: 20), Daily Recruitment Limit: 50, Recruitment Cost: 50 Gold per recruit.
Bandit Guard (Strength: 20), Daily Recruitment Limit: 5, Recruitment Cost: 100 Gold per recruit.
Gale Raider (Strength: 25), Daily Recruitment Limit: 5, Recruitment Cost: 200 Gold per recruit.
Although the system list didn't categorize the units by beginner or intermediate levels, it was still easy to distinguish them based on the recruitment limits.
The Bandit unit, with its high daily recruitment limit and extremely low cost, was clearly a basic unit, not even qualifying as a beginner unit. Interestingly, these basic units had the most potential for growth.
Bandits could gain experience through combat and eventually become warriors by obtaining 'Certificates of Employment' and other means. In contrast, other units could only improve their rank through experience, and the chances of them becoming warriors were slim, if not impossible.
Out of the seven units, Lu HaiKong regularly recruited only the 'Bandit Guard' and the newly added 'Gale Raider'. Considering the current financial situation of the mountain camp, he decided to hold off on recruiting the other units for now.
Lu HaiKong headed to the Blacksmith Camp after setting up the daily automatic recruitment of 'Bandit Guard' and 'Gale Raider' in the Mountain Bandit Camp.
The last time Lu HaiKong returned from the Mountain Fort, he sent the blueprints for the 'Savage Wolf Sword', 'Galewind Saber', 'Light Iron Shield', and the elite-level weapon, the Vermilion Lance.
This time, Lu HaiKong also brought thirty Junior Blacksmith Certificates and twenty-odd Junior Blacksmiths rescued from the Large Raider Camp to the Blacksmith Camp.
When Lu HaiKong arrived, the blacksmiths were working diligently, and several construction teams were outside, expanding the camp.
The original Blacksmith Camp could only accommodate around two hundred people. Now, although it hasn't reached two hundred yet, it's almost at capacity. It's high time to expand the camp; they can't wait until the number of blacksmiths exceeds two hundred to start the expansion.
Upon Lu HaiKong's arrival, the Blacksmith Camp had two projects underway: the forging of 'Savage Wolf Swords' and the elite-level Vermilion Lances.
The 'Savage Wolf Sword' is a standard weapon, and a few Junior Blacksmiths can work on it with the help of Intermediate Blacksmiths. With the current efficiency of the camp, they can produce over a hundred swords per day. At this rate, the Second Battalion will be able to upgrade their primary weapons in just over half a month.
However, the Vermilion Lance, being an elite weapon, is slightly more challenging to craft and requires Advanced Blacksmiths. Currently, they can only produce three to five lances per day.
This output is already impressive, and it wouldn't be possible without Elder GongSun, a master-level blacksmith, providing his buffs. As the camp expands and the fifty-plus Junior Blacksmiths join, the efficiency will further increase.
If this trend continues, Lu HaiKong's entire army will be rearmed with elite weapons in less than half a year.
This is a cause for celebration, but Lu HaiKong can't help but feel the weight of the task ahead when he thinks of the elite cavalry unit in Dingxiang County, fully equipped with elite-level gear.
Lu HaiKong's visit to the Blacksmith Camp was not only to inspect the camp but also to bring a set of elite-level equipment.
This set of equipment was taken from Cheng Yi, including armor, battle boots, and even a helmet that Lu HaiKong had smashed. The entire set was of elite quality.
Lu HaiKong found Elder GongSun and Old Man Wang in a corner of the camp, drinking and singing songs.
Seeing these two unkempt old men, Lu HaiKong's face darkened. "Are they spending 500 gold a day on these old men?" he wondered.
The two old men quickly tidied up and stood when they saw Lu HaiKong approaching, putting on a serious and meticulous demeanor as they discussed philosophical matters in front of him.
Lu HaiKong didn't bother to say anything to these two old fellows. Instead, he had someone throw Cheng Yi's armor set at Elder GongSun.
"Chieftain, do you want me to repair this set? No problem, leave it to me, and I'll have it fixed in no time!" Elder GongSun flattered.
Lu HaiKong's eyes flashed with determination. "No, I want you to replicate this set and create a finished product!"
