Chapter 297: Entering the Otherworld

Lin Qi listened quietly as Wan Ming spoke, his thoughts suddenly drifting to Jiang Tao.
Jiang Tao’s parents had come to the Otherworld during the Great Colonization Drive, hoping to strike it rich and improve their family’s circumstances. He and Jiang Miaoyin’s Mysterious Waterdrop Gemstones were also treasures found in the Otherworld—priceless artifacts.
Some of the information Wan Ming shared was known to Lin Qi from online sources or the Martial Arts General Education Course. But other details were entirely new. Now, Wan Ming had synthesized all of it into a coherent explanation.
“Our Azure Firmament Martial Academy has a massive Spatial Gate connecting to the Otherworld. It remains open 365 days a year unless the War Base itself is destroyed.” Wan Ming poured himself another cup of tea before continuing.
He projected a large holographic screen into the air, displaying their current location aboard the Fighter Aircraft.
“Wan Ming is correct,” Dean Liu chimed in, returning from the cockpit and activating another holographic display. “We’re approaching the Otherworld’s entrance.”
Lin Qi focused on the screen. The view shifted to a bird’s-eye perspective of a vast, desolate landscape dominated by jagged steel fortifications. Countless massive transport vehicles crawled across the terrain like ants, all converging on a single point: a colossal white circular portal emitting concentric ripples, as if reality itself had been torn open.
Nestled within a black steel wall over 300 meters in diameter, the portal offered glimpses of a dark, industrial base on the other side. Disassembled Disaster Beast corpses and heavy machinery flowed through the gateway, loaded and unloaded by rugged, armored transport vehicles moving in orderly lines. Fighter Aircraft like theirs soared overhead, disappearing into the portal.
“Everyone, prepare yourselves—gravity here is three times Earth’s normal!” Dean Liu warned suddenly.
As the words left his mouth, the Fighter Aircraft surged forward and plunged into the Spatial Gate.
Vrrrrr!!!
An invisible gravitational force enveloped the aircraft, rattling the table violently before stabilizing. Lin Qi felt as though he’d been dropped into a Gravity Chamber, his body instantly crushed by triple gravity’s weight. Others grimaced, their movements sluggish, as if burdened by invisible leaden weights. Though they were accustomed to withstanding six or seven times gravity in training, sustaining triple gravity constantly was still jarring.
Lin Qi instinctively resisted the omnipresent Primordial Energy pressing against him. He sensed the Fighter Aircraft flooding with luminous particles—Primordial Energy, dense and palpable, seeping into his very being.
No wonder this is the Otherworld, he mused. The Primordial Energy here is astonishingly rich.
Back on the hologram, the Otherworld’s landscape unfolded: endless black steel fortifications, airborne metal spheres, and colossal cold-eyed weapons mounted on walls. The sky itself seemed unchanged from Blue Planet’s.
“So this is the Otherworld? The Primordial Energy here is indeed intense,” Wan Ming remarked, waving his hands as glowing blue patterns surfaced on his skin. “I feel my [Flowing Water] ability has become even more responsive.”
Others’ auras flickered erratically as they adjusted to their new conditions. Lin Qi felt a similar stirring within—a restless surge of latent power.
“Welcome to the Otherworld, everyone!” Dean Liu announced cheerfully, pointing at the hologram. “Our destination is near!”
“This is Azure Firmament Base—the largest stronghold in the Otherworld, constructed over 28 years and spanning 1,024 hectares!” Dean Liu continued. “It’s the Xia Kingdom’s—and Blue Planet’s—most formidable War Base, fortified to withstand even a Ninth-Level Disaster Beast Tide!”
Lin Qi felt awestruck. The scale of the War Base was staggering, akin to an entire steel metropolis built in just two decades.
“We’re here!” Dean Liu added. On the hologram, towering pyramids of blinding brilliance emerged—colossal structures over a hundred meters tall, arranged in precise formation.
“Those pyramids…?” Wan Ming’s eyes lit up.
“Correct,” Dean Liu confirmed. “They house the corpses of Ninth-Level Disaster Beasts.”
Before Lin Qi’s eyes, the pyramids stretched beyond sight, an endless array of monolithic tombs.
Boom!!!
A minute later, their crimson Fighter Aircraft descended onto a sprawling airfield alongside several differently colored crafts.
The aircraft hatch hissed open, and figures poured out. Triple gravity slowed their movements as they stepped into the open. The airfield stretched vast and empty, flanked by towering steel buildings with gleaming metallic walls. Advanced instruments and devices lined the perimeter, while rows of imposing white Smart Robots stood motionless nearby.
A group of men and women awaited them, led by a striking middle-aged man in a red-and-white robe. His sharp, angular features and Eurasian charm were overshadowed by the raw Vital Energy radiating from his body—a Seventh Realm Martial Artist.
“Welcome, students of Azure Firmament Martial Academy!” he greeted, his voice crisp.
Dean Liu grinned, shaking his hand. “Old Yi, long time no see!”
“Old Liu! Didn’t expect you’d be here too!” Yi Wei gestured to the students. “Let me introduce—this is Yi Wei, our expert in managing Ninth-Level Disaster Beast corpses. You may address him as Professor Yi. He was once a faculty member here.”
Yi Wei’s gaze swept over the group—the cream of Azure Firmament’s freshman class. His eyes lingered on Lin Qi, the sole unawakened prodigy among them, standing out like a crane among sparrows.
“Follow me,” Yi Wei said. “I’ll escort you to your quarters. You may link with Smart Robots to assist with luggage.”
As Smart Robots efficiently loaded their belongings onto cart-like frames, the students boarded a sightseeing vehicle. The convoy rolled out, leaving the airfield behind. Outside, workers and robots bustled among industrial structures. Soon, they reached the residential zone—a stark contrast to the steel wasteland. Lush gardens surrounded three-story villas, their architecture refined and residential.
“Accommodations here are smaller than Blue Planet’s due to the Otherworld’s high construction costs,” Yi Wei explained. “Apologies for the compromise.”
The vehicle hummed forward, carrying them into their new home.
