In the world of Ice and Fire, almost all Magic currently in circulation requires sacrificial victims to be activated. According to ancient texts, these sacrifices are offered to the Deity, and only after receiving the sacrifices can the Magic succeed.
However, Rose Crystal firmly denies this. Based on her personal experience, she believes that the Deity would not favor such grotesque and disgusting offerings. She has now established a rule that the highest-quality offerings are the essence of wisdom, such as a new invention or a beautiful poem. Mid-tier offerings include clothing, food, books, and money, which can be used for charitable purposes. Lesser sacrifices are things like luxurious spices and other luxury items.
Although people are somewhat puzzled by this classification, they naturally follow it under the direct instruction of the Deity. As a result, Rose Crystal has gained a great deal of Merit and faith.
After examining the situation, Rose Crystal found that most Magic in this world does not actually require the Deity's involvement. The so-called sacrifices to the Deity are, in fact, a way to harness the energy contained within certain objects when the natural magic power in the world is insufficient, thus enabling the casting of spells.
This is why the Undying stole Rose Crystal's sleeping box, as the box contained a significant amount of Magic power, which could serve as an energy source to aid in spellcasting.
Understanding this principle, Liam naturally replaced the sacrificial victims with magic power. He quickly mastered a variety of Blood Magic and Shadow Magic.
Meanwhile, the three Dragon Eggs he obtained from the Horse King and the two Dragon Eggs he acquired from the City-States, which had been nourished by the magic power gathered through the Alchemical Array, were gradually regaining their vitality. It wouldn't be long before they hatched into baby dragons.
Since this was the first world where Liam had fully controlled a significant force, he devoted a great deal of time and effort to its management. Just as he was preparing to leave after everything was arranged, the large trading fleet he had sent to Westeros returned, reportedly bringing back many important items. Liam had to delay his return to welcome the merchant fleet.
The fleet brought a large number of specialties from the West, satisfying the growing market demand. After increasing productivity and freeing the slaves, the consumption desire and purchasing power in this region had significantly increased. More people were eager to obtain distant specialties.
However, this was not the most important gain from the voyage. During their stopover on the western side of the continent, the trading City-States had initially shown no interest in the new nation and refused to sign trade agreements.
But after the defeat of the Dothraki, the new nation's combat prowess thoroughly impressed the entire continent. Consequently, upon their return from afar, the City-States readily signed the agreements they had previously rejected and even sent their envoys along.
After meeting with all the envoys, Liam went directly from his office to the Crystal Sanctuary to pack up and prepare for the journey back.
However, in the courtyard behind the main hall, Liam was surprised to find some guests had been brought there.
One of the guests was a little girl who appeared to be only a few years old. However, her left face and most of her neck were covered in ash-gray dead skin. Lata was carefully examining the skin with gloved hands, using some divine spells, which caused a faint purple glow to emanate from her hands.
"No problem, it can be treated", Lata said after her examination. "However, using Magic would reduce her lifespan and harm her body, so I personally recommend using a Potion."
"What's the difference between these two methods?" an old nurse asked, standing beside the young girl.
"Both methods can completely cure the Greyscale. However, Magic is faster, while using medication would take one to two years to gradually resolve the issue. I believe that if there's no urgency, it's better to treat her slowly. After all, Lady Shireen has had this disease since birth, so we can only gradually remove it from her body. Using a quick and aggressive method could easily harm her body", Lata answered seriously. "But the Magic to prevent the disease from spreading won't harm her. I can cast it on her once a week, and after that, she can live a normal life."
"Oh, thank you so much", the old nurse said, moved. "Lord Stannis Baratheon, the Admiral of the Fleet, will remember your kindness. I believe Lord Baratheon made the right decision in bringing his daughter here after seeing your Priest heal those patients. Lady Shireen will surely have a happy life in the future."
It seems this is the poor girl who was burned alive in the TV show, Liam thought. He felt his decision to help was the right one. After all, this world combines elements from both the novels and the TV series, so that terrible event could happen. If so, saving her life now made Liam feel a bit happier.
Lata only noticed Liam standing there after examining the patient and bowed slightly. "Your Majesty." Everyone else bowed to Liam as well.
At this moment, Liam noticed another girl, about seven or eight years old, standing beside Shireen. Strangely, she was accompanied by a strong middle-aged woman with an axe at her waist.
"Who is this young guest?" Liam asked Lata.
"She is Lyanna Mormont, the youngest daughter of House Mormont, the rulers of Bear Island. This time, Bear Island bought a large amount of goods from us, but they didn't have enough money. However, they didn't want to give up on these goods because Bear Island is very poor, and many of their people die every winter due to this."
"So, after hearing about your deeds, they sent their youngest daughter to pledge allegiance to you as a warrior, along with thirty warriors from Bear Island. In exchange, they took over eight hundred tons of goods. The Priest on the ship prayed, and only after receiving the approval of the Supreme Crystal did this agreement come to fruition", Lata explained to Liam.
"Big Brother, this is the Mouth of the Queen of the North", Rose Crystal suddenly said in Liam's soul. As his Puppet, Liam had shared a lot of his memories with her. "If we cultivate her well, we'll gain an excellent talent for free. We can't stay in this world forever, so it's important to cultivate loyal and capable individuals."
"Moreover, as the youngest daughter, Lyanna has no inheritance rights. Your kingdom is rich and has the powerful force to annihilate the Unsullied, but it's far from the North, so there's no risk of conflict. Most importantly, as a new nation, there are countless opportunities. Maege Mormont wouldn't miss this chance to ally with a powerful friend and find a good future for her youngest daughter. After all, as long as such a girl doesn't go to the enemies of the North, she won't interfere with their loyalty to House Stark."
"Furthermore—" Rose Crystal smiled strangely. "Big Brother, you're too young. The nobles who can serve normally are all too old for you. As one of the first nobles to join, there's a high chance she could become an important minister in the future. How could any noble pass up such a great deal?"
Well, Liam thought, it looks like my place might become a nursery in the coming years. The nobility in this world, like those in medieval Europe, value cultivating relationships from a young age. For example, the current heads of the deer and wolf families have been friends since childhood. As a young and powerful king, many nobles will try to place their underage successors near him.
