Chapter 295: Rewinding Time
Chapter 295: Rewinding Time
It seemed to be the case.
Ivan suddenly realized this and looked at Hermione with a peculiar expression.
So what exactly is going on? If Professor Trelawney's prophecy comes true, does that mean Hermione will cause a massacre?
Or will Hermione encounter some danger this school year?
Ivan looked at Hermione with some concern.
Hermione rolled her eyes at Ivan. She didn't believe a word of Professor Trelawney's nonsense!
Even so, the young witch kept flipping through *The Future Unveiled* during the class, trying to find some evidence to refute Professor Trelawney's prophecy.
*Ding, after some time of study, your proficiency in Divination has increased. Current progress: (3/100) Level 0.*
Just before the class was about to end, a system notification echoed in Ivan's mind.
Divination?
Ivan was stunned for a moment, then felt a wave of joy. He had only taken this Divination class for the credit points, never expecting to gain any actual Divination abilities from it.
However, when Ivan opened the system panel, he realized that the Divination he had obtained was not a magic spell but was categorized under knowledge and theory. He had no idea how to use it.
Observe the shape of the tea leaves?
Ivan tried to observe his teacup, hoping to see some kind of omen, but he couldn't make anything out after a long time.
Professor Trelawney spent the entire Divination class delivering ominous prophecies to more and more young witches and wizards, especially to Harry, where she made another death prophecy.
Even after class, Harry was still somewhat worried. Ron comforted him, telling Harry to learn from Ivan and stay calm.
Professor Trelawney's prophecy for Ivan was even more terrifying, mentioning words like slaughter and hell.
Harry turned to look at Ivan but found that Ivan and Hermione had already disappeared.
"That's strange, where are they? Ron, did you see them? We're about to go to Transfiguration class", Harry asked in confusion.
"How would I know?" Ron shook his head. "Let's just go to the classroom. It's Professor Mcgonagall's class, they can't possibly be absent!"
Meanwhile, Ivan and Hermione had already hidden in an empty rooftop, preparing to use the Time Turner to go back two hours to attend Muggle Studies class.
Hermione reached into her robe's collar and quickly pulled out a thin, long gold chain.
"Get closer! We need to wear this together! The chain might not be long enough", Hermione said, looking at Ivan.
Ivan nodded and took a few steps forward.
Hermione pulled the gold chain and hung it around Ivan's neck as well. They stood very close, almost able to hear each other's breathing.
"You do it!" Hermione handed the Time Turner to Ivan.
Ivan held it with his left hand and began to turn the hourglass on the timer.
One turn, two turns...
As the hourglass began to turn, Ivan felt the surroundings blur, everything seemed to be retreating rapidly, and he felt as if he were suspended in the air, isolated from the world.
Fortunately, Ivan could still sense Hermione's presence, which made him feel a bit more at ease.
A moment later, Ivan noticed that the changes around him had stopped, and he felt his feet touching solid ground again.
Is it over? Is this two hours ago?
Ivan looked around. The rooftop terrace still looked the same, but the angle of the shadows cast by the sunlight had changed slightly.
"Let's go, we should check it out!" Ivan removed the gold chain from his neck and handed it to Hermione, then suggested.
Hermione nodded, and the two left the terrace, heading towards the Muggle Studies classroom.
On the way, they were very cautious, deliberately avoiding people.
"We should act naturally. Usually, no one will notice", Ivan shook his head, feeling a bit like a thief.
"But Professor Dumbledore told us to avoid being seen by them", Hermione hesitated.
"That's just to avoid the same person seeing two of us at the same time, which could cause unnecessary trouble", Ivan speculated.
Since they were going to class, they would inevitably be seen by the students and the professor in the same classroom.
Sneaking around like this would only raise more suspicion.
Hermione quickly realized this and adjusted her mindset. However, as they passed through the tower, Hermione suddenly reached out and tugged at Ivan's sleeve, pointing to the stairs below.
Ivan looked down curiously and saw another Hermione and himself climbing up the stairs. Ivan realized that this was the time when he had just left the headmaster's office and was heading to the Divination classroom.
"This feeling is so strange, seeing another version of myself", Ivan felt very awkward. He wondered if there were two systems running simultaneously and how the system would judge if he completed a task now.
"Ivan, we need to think of a way to avoid being seen!" Hermione said urgently. The first taboo of using the Time Turner was being seen by yourself.
Dumbledore hadn't told her what would happen if she saw herself, but it definitely wouldn't be good.
"Don't worry, the Disillusionment Charm should work", Ivan drew his Wand and tapped his chest, and a magical aura enveloped him, making him disappear from Hermione's sight.
Then, Ivan cast the Disillusionment Charm on Hermione as well and pulled her along, trying to stay close to the wall.
"Be careful, hold your breath!" Ivan reminded her.
Although the Disillusionment Charm provided invisibility, it was still just a spell and didn't have the same isolation properties as the Deathly Hallow Invisibility Cloak. Any large movements might be sensed by their past selves.
Hermione covered her mouth and followed Ivan cautiously, not daring to make a sound.
Ivan walked slowly, and they tried to be as quiet as possible, but their footsteps still made faint sounds on the stairs.
Ivan frowned. This wouldn't do. He was certain that he hadn't heard any unusual sounds when he had climbed the stairs earlier.
If they continued like this, his past self would definitely notice something was wrong.
As they got closer, Ivan hesitated, wondering if he should stop and wait for the other to pass, or if he should test whether the past could truly be changed.
What would happen if they just walked past? Ivan's mind suddenly had this thought.
