Chapter 295: I'm Lucy
Chapter 295: I'm Lucy
After the Guild Master went upstairs, he didn't show up again, not even for lunch.
Mila quietly went up to check, and the old man was writing a self-reflection letter before falling asleep again.
She asked Mr. Cook to make an extra lunch and put it in a thermal box for the Guild Master to eat when he woke up.
The pub was bustling with people discussing recent events, and Natsu's destruction of half the port was a hot topic.
Many were curious about how the Guild Master would punish him.
"Did the package include a compensation bill?" Rod also looked a bit worried, "Can the guild's treasury handle it?"
In this situation, the guild might have to cover the costs first, and Natsu would repay them gradually. His and Happy's little savings were probably not going to be enough.
"It depends on the extent of the damage. The news report was rather vague, but thankfully it was half the port, not half the port city."
Mila thought for a moment and added, "But this time, Natsu took down a criminal gang, which should offset a large portion of the fine."
"Let's hope so. Natsu has done a great deed this time," said Rod. "I remember that guy, Bora, who used to be a thief, and now he's become a human trafficker."
Last year, he borrowed a magazine from Lucy, and that's when he saw Bora's information.
"Mila, three beers over here!"
"I'll have a roasted chicken!"
"Coming right up!" Mila and Rod got busy as the pub was at its liveliest during lunchtime.
Just then, the guild's door was kicked open, and Rod knew who it was without turning around.
Sure enough, Natsu's noisy voice echoed, "I'm back!!!"
Happy chimed in, "You're back!"
"Welcome back, Natsu, Happy," Mila greeted them.
She noticed that after they barged in, there was a blonde girl with a suitcase standing at the entrance, looking around in awe.
And Rod was staring at that girl.
Mila pouted, but from Rod's expression, it didn't seem like he was captivated by the girl's beauty.
She was quite confident about understanding Rod's expression when he was attracted to a beauty.
She'd ask him about it later.
First, she'd go greet the girl.
"Natsu! About the Fire Dragon..." Niki, who had said a few days ago that it was no big deal, now chose to explain rationally.
However, before he could finish his sentence, Natsu's foot had already stamped on his face, "Damn it! It was false information!"
"Oh well, it turned out like this." Mila smiled and stood aside to watch the commotion, forgetting about the blonde girl she had intended to greet.
"Natsu!" Gray suddenly stood up, "We haven't settled the score for your ambush last time!"
The two foes immediately started fighting, and Niki, who had just been kicked, wasn't going to back down either. A chaotic brawl was about to break out.
"Gentlemen! Your sister is watching!" Elfman, who was caught in the crossfire, joined the fray without a second thought.
Soon, Kana and Loki joined in...
The golden-haired girl, who had entered with high expectations, was now lying flat on the ground, her fantasies shattered.
She had thought that Fairy Tail was full of powerful mages, but instead, she had encountered a naked man, a beast, a drunkard, a playboy...
And a whole bunch of other maniacs.
"Hello?" Mira finally remembered there was a stranger present.
"Miss Mira Jane! It's Miss Mira Jane herself!" The golden-haired girl stood up excitedly,
"Hello, I'm Lucy! I heard that you recently... Ah, never mind that for now, shouldn't you stop them?"
"It's okay, they do this all the time," Mira chuckled, "Isn't it interesting?"
"I don't see the fun in it at all!" Lucy complained habitually, "Ya—watch out!"
A bottle flew by, and Rod's silhouette appeared in front of Mira, catching the bottle with one hand and casually tossing it aside.
He turned around and smiled at Mira, "Isn't that cool?"
Mira clapped lightly, "Very cool."
Although she was capable of doing the same, she had grown accustomed to Rod's timely interventions.
Being protected by him wasn't so bad, was it?
Moreover, it allowed her to focus on the spectacle.
"Wow! Fairy Strategist!" Lucy exclaimed, pointing at Rod in surprise, "Mira's rumored boyfriend!"
"First of all, the rumors about the boyfriend are just that—rumors."
"It's just a rumor, how could Mira possibly..."
And then she saw Rod wrap his arm around Mira's waist, and Mira leaned into him.
Mira smiled and said, "Not a rumored boyfriend, but an official one~"
Lucy's face turned red, her mind going blank, "Eh? Ehh~~~~~"
In her astonishment, Lucy suddenly found herself being picked up.
Loki, in a sentimental tone, said, "Beautiful lady, there's no need to envy them. I'll be by your side from now on."
Mira exclaimed in surprise, "Loki actually dares to get close to Rod?"
"Blinded by lust?" Rod pointed at the keys hanging from Lucy's waist, "Loki, she might be the Spirit Mage you've been longing for."
Not only was she a Spirit Mage, but three of her keys shone with a golden light.
She possessed three of the Zodiac Keys!
Typically, a Mage with these three Celestial Spirits alone would be enough to become the face of a guild.
But for Loki, this was obviously bad news. He loosened his grip and leaped ten meters away, "I'm sorry, Miss, but we're not meant to be!"
"Ouch!" Lucy fell with a thud onto the wooden floor, "What's wrong with this guy?"
Wasn't he supposed to be one of the top-ranked Mages she wanted as a boyfriend? Was he all looks and no substance?
"Sorry, Loki can't handle Spirit Mages," Mira helped Lucy up, "Are you here with Natsu? Do you want to join the guild?"
"Can I?" Lucy was a bit surprised and delighted. She had thought that the top guild in Fiore would have strict entry requirements.
"You can meet the Guild Master later. For now..." Mira looked at the increasingly rowdy tavern, "...it's almost time to wake up."
Before Lucy could understand the situation, a giant appeared in the guild, "Everyone, stop!"
Everyone froze, except for Natsu, who was laughing with his hands on his hips, but he was promptly stomped into the floor by the Guild Master.
"You've done a lot of good things!" Makarov scolded the troublemakers, calling out each of their names.
Almost every one of the brawlers was on the list of complaints sent by the Council Chamber.
He seemed to be shaking with anger, and finally, a flame ignited in his palm, which he used to burn the documents and then threw them into Natsu's mouth.
"Let the Council eat shit! If we worry about prying eyes above, magic will never progress... Follow the path you believe in! That's the way of Fairy Tail!"
The guild erupted with laughter and cheers, and Lucy was infected by this atmosphere. This was the Fairy Tail she had been searching for!
This chapter had been a struggle... I couldn't come up with a better idea, but I had to write it.
