Morning Star, whether from being too full or too young, closed her eyes and nestled into Elise's arms, ready to drift off to sleep after eating the crystal stone.
Su Yu quickly roused her. "Morning Star, don't go to sleep yet. How about I take you to our world?"
"Your world? What do you mean by 'your world'?" Morning Star looked utterly confused.
Earlier, when Su Yu was explaining things to Elise and Tina, Morning Star was still inside the Dream Realm (the pale green portal), so she hadn't heard a word.
"Here’s the thing," Su Yu repeated his explanation to Tina and Elise.
After hearing Su Yu’s words, Morning Star’s eyes widened, and her drowsiness vanished.
An extraordinary world! And she had the chance to go there?!
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go now!" Morning Star leaped out of Elise's arms and perched on Su Yu's shoulder.
"Alright." Su Yu used his willpower to summon Morning Star into the pet space, and she vanished in a streak of starlight from his shoulder.
Then he turned to Elise and Tina. "I’ll be back soon, probably within half an hour to an hour or two."
"Okay, I'll wait for you," Elise nodded, sitting down in front of the vanity.
"Be careful, Su Yu," Tina added.
"Thanks, I will."
With that, Su Yu logged out of the game.
In the real world.
Su Yu removed his game helmet and stood up from the sofa. He stretched, feeling no significant changes. However, unlike usual, he sensed a diamond-shaped rune deep within his forehead—the same rune that had merged with him when he and Morning Star signed the equal contract.
Perhaps he could summon Morning Star using this rune.
Su Yu channeled his magic into the diamond-shaped rune, which began to glow a deep blue.
Soon, a six-pointed star array, shimmering with starlight, appeared on his forehead and reflected onto the floor.
In the center of the star array on the floor, "Meow~"
A clear, kitten-like cry echoed as Morning Star leaped out of the array and landed on the cold tile floor.
After arriving in this world, she spun around, curiously inspecting everything around her.
Then she jumped onto Su Yu's bed, still observing her surroundings, and asked, "Su Yu, is this where you live?"
"Yep!" Su Yu smiled.
"This place is so small. Are you a hermit crab or something?" Morning Star teased.
Su Yu coughed. "Actually, this much space is plenty for one person."
"Really?" Morning Star was highly skeptical.
But she didn’t dwell on it.
Morning Star hopped onto the balcony and gazed out at the view.
It was three in the afternoon, and Su Yu’s apartment was on the ninth floor, providing a clear view of the city far into the distance.
Morning Star’s eyes were fixed on the towering skyscrapers, her gaze full of curiosity. "Su Yu, Su Yu, why are the buildings here so tall? Do you have some special earth magic?"
"What are those black and white boxes moving on the ground?"
"And what’s that in the sky? It’s not a strong being... It must be some special metallic beast!"
Morning Star spoke excitedly.
But she wasn’t satisfied with just this view and turned to Su Yu. "Su Yu, can you take me out to explore now?"
"Sorry, not now," Su Yu shook his head. "Princess and Tina are still waiting for us. We need to let them know before we go out."
"Sure." Morning Star turned her head and continued to admire the view outside the window.
...
But then, Su Yu suddenly thought of something and said to Morning Star, "Morning Star, can I touch you?"
Archers and Summoners can summon their pets into the real world, but the summoned pets are only psionic illusions. Su Yu wanted to touch Morning Star to see if she was a solid entity or just an illusion.
"What are you trying to do?! Stay back!" Morning Star jumped back onto the bed, pulled the blanket over her body, and glared at him with a suspicious look.
It's not like there's anyone else around, is her true nature finally showing? But she's just a cat, not the human form that unlocks at level 10. Could she really be so desperate that she can't even resist a cat?
"No, you misunderstand." A black line appeared on Su Yu's forehead as he explained the situation with Hunters and Summoners.
Morning Star tilted her head and thought for a moment.
Then she nodded in understanding. "Alright, you can touch me. Wait!"
As Su Yu's hand reached out, she immediately stopped him.
"What's wrong?" Su Yu asked, puzzled.
"No touching the tail!" Morning Star said seriously.
"Alright." Another black line appeared on Su Yu's forehead.
But just as Su Yu's hand was half a meter away from Morning Star, she twisted her body and called out again. "Wait!"
"What now?"
"No touching the belly, and definitely not the lower half!" Morning Star emphasized.
Su Yu: "Okay."
A third black line appeared on his forehead.
"Wait! No touching the legs, only the head."
A fourth black line.
"You don't let me touch you, but I will touch you anyway!"
Su Yu's stubborn side kicked in. He ignored her protests and pounced onto the bed, petting Morning Star's body vigorously.
He knew her personality well.
During the early part of the Empress line's main quest, Morning Star, in her Star Deer form, wouldn't let him ride her. But after the 14th stage, when Su Yu rode her once, she completely relaxed. In the following quests, she let him ride her several times, even coming to him on her own to help him complete difficult tasks.
Now, it was the same. Morning Star might act like she didn't want to be touched, but if he petted her enough, she would get over her discomfort.
Morning Star was just a level 2 cat; how could she possibly escape the grasp of a level 60 Mage like Su Yu?
She changed shapes in his hands, meowing softly as he petted her.
But since she was still a newborn kitten, Su Yu was gentler with his touch.
At first, Morning Star struggled a bit.
But as Su Yu had predicted, she soon stopped resisting and began to enjoy his petting, closing her eyes in contentment.
Afterward, Morning Star lay in Su Yu's arms, nuzzling his chest with her forehead. "Human, I will forgive you this time because you are young and inexperienced. Don't do this again, understand?"
"Understood," Su Yu replied.
It had to be said, Morning Star's fur was incredibly smooth and felt great to pet. This indirectly confirmed that she was a physical entity in this world, not an illusion.
Checking the time, he realized he had been offline for 5 minutes, which translated to about an hour in-game. The Empress and Tina were probably getting impatient!
"Alright, let's go back now. I'll tell Alyssa, and then I'll show you around our world," Su Yu said to Morning Star.
Without waiting for her response, Su Yu returned her to the pet space, put on his helmet, and logged back into the game.
