Chapter 294: After the Battle
Chapter 294: After the Battle
After the main battle ended, Liam and his team began to clean up the battlefield. The integrated incinerators imported from the Plants vs. Zombies World were running at full capacity, processing the corpses.
According to the Merchant who had been to the grasslands, the bodies of the slain Khals were identified one by one. It was confirmed that due to the Doshake tradition of leaders leading the charge, most of the Khals and their Bloodriders had died here. The bodies of over a dozen Khals, including Khal Drogo, were identified, accounting for about 70% of all the Khals on the grasslands. The others were likely blown to pieces and could not be identified.
Rose Crystal used transparent purple Crystals to encase the heads of these Khals and their Bloodriders, and instructed the Priests to send the treated heads to Meereen, a bustling commercial city, to showcase the military might of the Freshmen nation.
The casualties on their side were minimal, with only a little over two hundred deaths and nearly a thousand injuries. Although Liam was somewhat regretful about not achieving zero casualties, the Native Generals were astounded by the low casualty rate. Thanks to the imported medicines and divine spells, the wounded would soon be able to return to the army.
After resting for half a day and resupplying from the rear Railway and Pier, Liam set out on an Energy Tower Robot. In addition to him, there were over three thousand Steam Engine Robots and nearly ten thousand soldiers. Naturally, Rose Crystal was by his side, deeply interested in the Dothraki's lack of a unified faith.
Their destination was Vaes Dothrak, located at the foot of the Mother of Mountains. After all, in this vast grassland, this was the only fixed settlement.
Thanks to radio communication, the pursuit forces easily made contact with Liam's main force. According to their reports, during an eight-hour pursuit, the Dothraki horses were outmatched by the tireless robots. Over ten thousand Dothraki cavalry were killed, and it was now certain that out of the nearly one hundred thousand-strong army, no more than five thousand had managed to escape.
So, this journey to Vaes Dothrak was very smooth. Apart from the first day, when they destroyed a Dothraki supply camp a day's journey from the Iron Gate Fortress, capturing a large number of horses, sheep, supplies, and thousands of miscellaneous people, and freeing nearly ten thousand slaves who were then sent back, they encountered no organized resistance for the rest of the journey.
Five days after setting out, the mechanized force finally saw the snow-capped peaks in the distance and the silver waves of the lake at the foot of the mountains. They had arrived at Vaes Dothrak.
Upon discovering Liam and his forces, the city was in chaos. The mechanized force had advanced so quickly that the city was still unaware of what had transpired in the war.
Since the city had no walls and there were no Khalasars present, its defenses were virtually non-existent. There were indeed some mercenary guards from merchant caravans encamped outside the city due to the weapon ban inside, but these scattered groups, numbering less than a thousand in total, had no plans to engage the tenfold larger and elite force. They were quickly disarmed and detained.
"This is the sacred site of the great Dothraki. Whoever you are, you must lay down your weapons and atone for your sins. Otherwise, you will face the sharp blades of the powerful Dothraki cavalry!" After half an hour, a eunuch stood at the city gate and shouted in a shrill voice. Behind him was a group of Merchants from all over, watching the army with curious eyes.
"You Dothraki, born of iron and fire, will also perish in iron and fire today." At this moment, Rose Crystal flew from Liam's shoulder into the air and spoke in her clear, youthful voice. Although her voice was not loud, with the help of Magic, everyone present heard her clearly.
"As for the powerful Dothraki cavalry you spoke of, they have been reduced to ashes." Little Puppet waved his hand with authority, and the soldiers behind him threw the banners representing various Dothraki khalasars at the city gate. Every time a banner hit the ground, Liam could hear the merchants inside the city gasp and exclaim in shock. By the time the last banner landed, the city was deathly silent.
"Oh, right, I almost forgot to tell you", Rose Crystal, who was about to fly back, added. "The heads of those khals and their bloodriders are now on display in Meereen. If you pass through there on your travels, you can take a look."
Liam mercifully allowed the non-combatants to leave the city, and soon the merchants were fleeing. After a while, the sound of battle erupted from within the city. It turned out that the Doshkhaleen had wanted to die with everyone else, but the slaves, seeing the light of freedom, finally rose up in rebellion under the threat of death.
Before long, some slaves emerged from the city with the heads of the Doshkhaleen and their lackeys, signaling the end of the main phase of the war.
Rose Crystal quickly flew into the city to claim the unowned faiths, and soon, with the ground trembling, a stone temple inlaid with purple crystals began to grow.
"Dothraki faith is filled with blood and violence, which is completely at odds with me. It would take too much time and energy to assimilate those faiths, so I decided to burn them and use them to build a temple for myself", Little Puppet said as he sat next to Liam. "This way, I've gained a fair amount of clean faith, which is quite a profit."
After declaring the city, now renamed Rose City, a free trade city and calming the merchants from various regions, Liam and his forces withdrew, leaving a small contingent to guard the area.
"We will build a railway here in the future. This place will be the economic center of the grasslands", Liam said as they left.
Upon returning to Amethyst City, Liam met with some important prisoners, including Daenerys and her brother, whose husband had died before their wedding.
In this world, Daenerys was the age of her novel counterpart. Looking at the thirteen-year-old girl, Liam felt he had even more reasons to see Drogo as a monster. After a brief conversation, he discovered that the current Daenerys was just a girl seeking a peaceful life. Liam immediately arranged for her to be settled in the Crystal Sanctuary, where she could attend school with other orphans who had been adopted into the sanctuary.
However, her brother Viserys was a far worse case. Upon meeting Liam, he loudly and repeatedly emphasized that he was the true king and demanded that Liam immediately support him in reclaiming the Iron Throne. He claimed that as soon as he set foot in Westeros, countless people would raise the banner of the true dragon and follow him. He was willing to offer his sister in marriage to Liam in exchange for his army's support in attacking the Seven Kingdoms.
Liam had nothing to say to such a delusional man. He swiftly ordered the guards to drag the lunatic away. As Viserys screamed and cursed, Liam instructed the guard leader to send him for labor reform, believing that this was the only way to restore his sanity.
As news of the total destruction of the Dothraki spread, wave after wave of envoys were sent to Amethyst City. The Nine Trade Federations, in particular, were concerned. Their once-feared neighbors were gone, but now a more formidable power had taken their place. The leaders of the city-states were eager to learn what kind of nation this new power was.
However, all these matters were handled by the modern diplomatic institutions, allowing Liam to focus entirely on the study of the unique magic of this world.
