Chapter 293: The Recruitment Decree
Chapter 293: The Recruitment Decree
September 25, 2017
When Lu HaiKong saw the Gale Raider Recruitment Order, he was pleasantly surprised.
The Gale Raiders had caught his eye from the very beginning, and Lu HaiKong felt that they were the perfect fit for the Black Gale Legion. If the Black Gale Legion underwent a major overhaul and replaced all its members with Gale Raiders...
Wait a minute!
Upon further thought, doing so before today would have significantly boosted the Black Gale Legion's strength, but attempting it now would be a reckless move.
Currently, the Black Gale Legion's members are all elite Horse Bandits, and their attributes are no less impressive than those of the Gale Raiders. In fact, they might even be slightly stronger. There's no need for replacements at the moment, but the Gale Raiders could serve as direct candidates for the Black Gale Legion.
Aside from the Gale Raider Recruitment Order, the last token fragment in this secret chamber also piqued Lu HaiKong's interest.
Mysterious Artifact Fragment
Item Type: Unknown
Item Effect: By collecting two artifact fragments, they can be freely combined to create an entirely new item.
Well, Lu HaiKong had seen his fair share of these "trap" items, and he didn't feel like complaining about the mysterious artifact fragment. He simply collected the four items and then opened the three Silver Chests he had brought along.
Today, Lu HaiKong's luck seemed to hold as he opened the three Silver Chests and obtained a Recruitment Decree, thirty copies of the Junior Blacksmith Certificate, and a potion.
The Recruitment Decree had two types: one for recruiting special individuals like Gongsun, and another for recruiting historical commanders like Dian Wei.
Up until now, Lu HaiKong had obtained three Recruitment Decrees, and each time, his luck had been extraordinary. He had recruited a master blacksmith, a top-tier commander, and an exceptional scholar. So, when he saw the Recruitment Decree, his eyes lit up with anticipation.
Upon picking it up and examining it, he found that it was a decree for recruiting a special individual, not a historical scholar or commander. Well, a skilled person was still a skilled person, and they could help his mountain camp's technology tree flourish. Lu HaiKong didn't mind and directly used the decree without much hesitation.
After using the Recruitment Decree, Lu HaiKong reached for the potion.
It wasn't that he was uninterested in the Junior Blacksmith Certificate; on the contrary, it was what excited him the most.
These thirty certificates were equivalent to having thirty blacksmiths, which was about one-fifth of the entire blacksmith camp. This increase would significantly reduce the workload and greatly improve the efficiency of the blacksmith camp.
However, the Junior Blacksmith Certificate was a sure thing, a guaranteed result. All Lu HaiKong needed to do was keep it in his pocket and use it when the time was right. There was no need to examine it further; no matter how much he looked, he wouldn't find any hidden surprises.
Taking the potion in hand, Lu HaiKong immediately used an Appraisal Technique to identify it.
Odd Mysterious Potion
Item Type: Potion
Item Description: Created by a seven-year-old child using a haphazard collection of recipes, materials, and medicinal ingredients.
Item Effect: Unknown (Not recommended for consumption)
"These chests really can contain all sorts of things," Lu HaiKong mused as he learned about the potion's attributes. He felt an uncanny sensation, as if even the bottle had taken on a strange aura. Shaking it, he found that there seemed to be quite a bit of the substance inside. After some thought, Lu HaiKong managed to suppress the urge to discard it.
As Lu HaiKong rummaged through the secret room, opening treasure chests, Zhao Er and the others began collecting the spoils of war from the large raider camp. It was a task that couldn't be handled by the Black Gale Legion alone, so they were accompanied by members of the Fu Clan Tribe, who were incredibly loyal and dedicated to Lu HaiKong.
From the very beginning, the Fu Clan's people meticulously gathered the spoils after each of Lu HaiKong's battles, and upon returning to their tribe, they presented the collected items to Lu HaiKong without missing a single one.
Thanks to these diligent tribesmen, Lu HaiKong was able to conquer sixty-one raider camps in just seven to eight days. Otherwise, it would've taken him much longer to both conquer the camps and collect the spoils.
To Lu HaiKong's surprise, Zhao Er discovered a prison within the raider camp, holding over a hundred captives.
Lu HaiKong had heard of such underground prisons in forts before, but this was his first time seeing one in person. It was dug deep into the ground, with limited space, covering an area of less than a thousand square meters.
In the dimly lit underground, the prison was a miserable place, filled with dampness and foul odors. Lu HaiKong couldn't imagine spending even a day there, let alone the horrific conditions the prisoners must have endured.
Lu HaiKong didn't venture inside, only glancing at the prison a few times. Meanwhile, Zhao Er released the captives.
Most of the prisoners were Data NPCs with limited intelligence. For them, their captivity was merely a setting, and they didn't seem to mind being inside or outside.
Surprisingly, among the captives were several talented individuals, including twenty basic blacksmiths, over ten basic carpenters, and three basic brewers.
They were all at the basic level, but it was still a welcome bonus from conquering such a large raider camp. Lu HaiKong gladly accepted them, and with these new additions, he would be returning with over fifty basic blacksmiths. The Blacksmith Camp was poised for significant growth.
After Lu HaiKong finished tallying the skilled workers, members of the Fu Clan Tribe arrived at the fort.
With their help, it took only half a day to transport all the supplies from the large raider camp.
The camp had plenty of fodder and food, along with some gold, but surprisingly few horses. Despite the camp's size, Lu HaiKong's forces only managed to capture less than a thousand horses.
The rest had either fled during the battle or been struck down by arrows. However, the fodder and food were abundant, enough to feed an army for a couple of months.
Lu HaiKong didn't plan to transport all the supplies back to the fort. Instead, he decided to leave some for the Fu Clan Tribe, who were loyal and dedicated members of his forces. He had no intention of treating them unfairly.
