Chapter 293: Can Lu Xiaofeng Eat Silk?
Chapter 293: Can Lu Xiaofeng Eat Silk?
The atmosphere at the scene was somewhat solemn, and Bitter Gourd Master realized that the conversation had veered off-topic again.
So he said, "Perhaps Ximen Chuixue will make a name for himself in the future, but not now."
Lu Xiaofeng nodded repeatedly, trying to liven up the atmosphere, and continued guessing Ye Gucheng, Zhu Ting and his wife, the honest monk, and Da Bei Chan Shi, and even mentioning Du Gu Yihuo.
"My master thinks it's too dangerous to go down the mountain, so he's decided to stay hidden in Emei and not come out," Su Shaoying said, waving her hand.
Mudao Ren laughed, "Next time this old Taoist goes to find Master Du Gu, I must tell him what you said."
Lu Xiaofeng smiled bitterly, "This matter isn't over, is it? If I go to Emei, will I be chased and hacked by hundreds of Taoists?"
Bitter Gourd Master shook his head, "Rest assured, Master Du Gu isn't so petty."
Lu Xiaofeng finally reacted and asked Bitter Gourd Master, "Then who is the most prominent person recently?"
Bitter Gourd Master said, "It's a man who knows how to embroider."
Lu Xiaofeng smiled, "There are quite a few men who know how to embroider. Among the tailor masters I know, several of them can embroider!"
"But not only can he embroider, he can also embroider the blind!" Bitter Gourd Master shook his head and said lightly, "It is said that he has recently embroidered at least seventy or eighty blind people, using two embroidery needles to blind one person."
Lu Xiaofeng finally understood, and raised his eyebrows, "Who are the blind people he embroidered?"
The following dialogue was the same as in the original novel. Master Bitter Gourd mentioned a few names and the reasons for the Embroidered Bandit's actions, and then, through Master Bitter Gourd's well-informed intelligence channels, Jin Jiuling was brought up.
Lu Xiaofeng felt that he now understood. He smiled and said, "He can't solve this case, so he must find a helper!"
Bitter Gourd Master nodded, acknowledging this.
Lu Xiaofeng was very proud, but deliberately affected an aggrieved tone, "The most unfortunate thing is that I just happen to be the most ideal helper. Whoever encounters something they can't solve always comes to find me, so..."
Bitter Gourd Master remained expressionless, "So what?"
Lu Xiaofeng shook his head and said, "So you invited me to this meal, probably not with good intentions."
Bitter Gourd Master shook his head, "Don't forget that you crashed here yourself. I didn't invite you."
"Maybe I'm just unlucky, so I crashed here!" Lu Xiaofeng nodded speechlessly, and then firmly refused, indicating that he would not get involved this time.
Bitter Gourd Master said indifferently, "He didn't ask you to get involved in this matter. Why are you being so sentimental?"
Lu Xiaofeng blinked, "He didn't?"
"I really didn't." A graceful voice, tinged with laughter, reached their ears, and Jin Jiuling appeared at the door, lifting the curtain to enter.
Gu Song Junshi immediately asked him if he had any fine calligraphy or paintings, and then Jin Jiuling took out a piece of red silk embroidered with a black peony.
"What is this?" Gu Song Junshi asked, "Could it be the genuine work of Shen Zhen Madame Xue?"
"This was embroidered by a man," Jin Jiuling said.
Gu Song was shocked and moved, "Is it the same man who can embroider and blind people?"
Jin Jiuling nodded, "This is the very piece he embroidered in the Wang Palace Treasury."
Su Shaoying stood by, watching Lu Xiaofeng and Jin Jiuling go through the question-and-answer session from the original novel, finding their expressions fascinating.
Lu Xiaofeng's curiosity was laced with excitement, while Jin Jiuling remained calm and collected.
As Lu Xiaofeng's questions became more detailed and he started analyzing the case, Bitter Gourd Master suddenly interrupted him, "If you don't want to get involved in this matter, why bother asking?"
Lu Xiaofeng blinked, "What's wrong with asking?"
Jin Jiuling smiled bitterly, "Of course there's nothing wrong. It's just that whatever I know, you now know as well."
Lu Xiaofeng's eyes flickered, and he suddenly asked Jin Jiuling, "Why did you tell me all this?"
Jin Jiuling said, "Because you were asking.
"You didn't intend to look for me?"
"No."
"Great, then I can drink in peace." Although Lu Xiaofeng's words were light, his smile had become somewhat forced. He hadn't expected that Jin Jiuling truly didn't plan to ask for his help.
However, Jin Jiuling laughed and said, "But now that you're here, there is something I'd like to ask you about!"
Lu Xiaofeng's eyes lit up. "I knew you must have something you wanted to ask me!"
Then Jin Jiuling asked Lu Xiaofeng about Sikong Zhaixing's whereabouts.
"Sikong Zhaixing, the self-proclaimed King of Thieves, is indeed a rare genius in the martial arts world. If there's anyone who can figure out how the Embroidered Bandit entered the Wang Palace Treasury, it's him," Jin Jiuling explained.
Lu Xiaofeng turned his head away, refusing to listen, and focused on eating and drinking. But Jin Jiuling persistently inquired about Sikong Zhaixing's whereabouts, which eventually angered Lu Xiaofeng.
"You've been babbling on, and it's all to find him?" Lu Xiaofeng asked.
"Aside from him, who else can I turn to?" Jin Jiuling replied.
"Me. Why can't you ask me?" Lu Xiaofeng asked, a hint of annoyance in his voice.
"You're not up to the task!" Jin Jiuling stated.
"Who says I'm not?" Lu Xiaofeng challenged.
"This matter is beyond your capabilities!" Jin Jiuling argued.
"Why do you think I can't handle it?" Lu Xiaofeng pressed further.
"Because this case is extremely tricky, and you don't even want to get involved!" Jin Jiuling exclaimed.
"Who says I don't want to get involved? I'll solve it just to prove you wrong!" Lu Xiaofeng declared.
"Fine, let's bet on it. I'll bet on anything you want!" Jin Jiuling goaded.
And so, Lu Xiaofeng fell right into Jin Jiuling's trap once again.
Everyone believed that this was Jin Jiuling's way of provoking Lu Xiaofeng to take on the case. However, Su Shaoying knew better. While it was indeed a provocation, it wasn't to ask for Lu Xiaofeng's help in solving the case but rather to use him to deal with Gongsun Daniang.
Jin Jiuling had set up the entire scheme, and now he was just waiting for Lu Xiaofeng to lift the lid off the pot.
Lu Xiaofeng's angry expression was tinged with a hint of amusement, as he had intentionally fallen for the provocation. He enjoyed meddling in others' affairs and relished being asked for help, no matter how it was requested.
Jin Jiuling's happy expression carried a hint of satisfaction, as he believed he had seen through Lu Xiaofeng's character and abilities. He thought he could manipulate Lu Xiaofeng to serve his own purposes.
As Su Shaoying sat by, nibbling on snacks and sipping tea, she watched the interplay with a smile, finding great amusement in the twists and turns of their interactions.
...
Gu Song, the Recluse, valued health preservation above all else. Mu Daoren had caught a lazy bug, and Bitter Gourd Master had evening prayers to attend to, leaving only five people in the cloud room.
Holding the red satin in his hand, Lu Xiaofeng ignored Shi Xiuxue but turned to Su Shaoying and asked, "Why are you still here?"
"Why should I leave?" Su Shaoying questioned.
"Do you want to be involved in this case, too?" Lu Xiaofeng asked.
"Of course not. I never get involved in cases you're a part of. I'm afraid you'll mistake me for a villain and chop me down," Su Shaoying shook her head.
Lu Xiaofeng's face darkened as he ignored the sarcasm in Su Shaoying's words. "Then why are you still here?" he pressed.
Su Shaoying replied nonchalantly, "Because I provided a clue to Elder Jin, and he promised me that I could observe this case from start to finish."
"What clue?" Lu Xiaofeng asked.
"The approximate location of the Embroidered Bandit's lair," Su Shaoying revealed.
Seeing Lu Xiaofeng's glaring eyes, she continued, "Moreover, now that you're involved, given your track record, I want to see who you'll wrongfully accuse this time."
Lu Xiaofeng bared his teeth and retorted, "If I accuse the wrong person this time, I'll eat this piece of satin!"
